  1. WE always reckoned that Mac looked like a miniature tan & white wolfhound ;) particularly side on.
  2. Oh Man - reminds me of what Mac looked like when I first got him, stripped and neat. He now looks a mess - might get my lovely friendly groomer to have a go at him so I can remember just how cute he looked stripped - he is still cute now though.
  3. Wow - all fantastic pics but the ones of the rescue pup (sorry - can't remember which one Dogdaz) are just awesome - truly brought a tear to my eye to see her doing what she was meant for when I truly thought she was destined for the green dream. Well done, well done, well done
  4. Oh Stormy.... Ever since you adopted Beau (AKA Kenny) your dogs have felt like family. I've been excited at your new additions and now saddened at your loss. RIP Harley - you were luckier than most dogs to have a home as wonderful as yours. Kisses from Albury.
  5. Thank goodness - hope she continues to improve.
  6. Sounds like bloody parvo to me - I hope not for your sake David. I've just lost a pup to it this week myself .
  7. Yeah Steve have the covered litter tray, dogs can't get into the laundry (well couldn't until a week ago but the pooing started way before that) and have looked into the whole privacy thing. The litter tray is always kept in the laundry facing a wall, with the cover on so that the only entrance is hidden. If it was just recent it would be a case of stress about the puppies in the laundry but it has been going on for a while. Last time we went to the vets he said that she was getting the beginnings of dementia and I think that is what it is. Sad to say but as an indoor only cat (the only way I will own a cat) pooing everywhere is not very tolerable so that is why I'm hoping to come up with some other solutions. I think she'd go nuts if I locked her in the laundry for a couple of weeks, even just a couple of days. Thanks everyone
  8. Her life changes quite regularly due to the rescue work we do and she is not a cat with a great fondness for dogs so that is definitely stressing her. She is a cat I inherited when my parents sold their house in Sydney, they were going to put her to sleep and I didn't want to do that without giving her a chance to adjust to life in my house. Unfortunately she hasn't adjusted quite as well as I had hoped, Unfortunately I'm also unable to put litter trays throughout the house as I have toddlers who think that litter trays are play toys - our litter tray is in our laundry with a child-proof gate stopping the kids getting to it. Will try the Biozet and Fabreze and see if we they help at all.
  9. Hi - have a 13 year old cat who has taken to dirtying behind our television cabinet despite having a clean, covered litter tray available (which she has always previously used). Need two things preferrably - something to put down to stop her wanting to use this site. Secondly something to neutralise the oh so pleasant odour. She has been given hormone injections to try to fix it but unfortunately they achieved very little. I'm now looking for other options that allow my house to not STINK... Thanks Trish
  10. RIP Flynn. We tried so hard but it just wasn't meant to be. I wish I knew what your past had been as there was a very big part of you that was amazing and a small but dangerous part that was revolting... I have missed you all day today you little shit.... Love you :D
  11. I used to live in Sydney and went to dog training with Steve Austin and I must admit I found him to be so positive and helpful that it was a real joy to go to training with my dogs. He'd pull people aside and help them with particular problems, he took no nonsense (from dog or owner) but he also would point out when your dog had improved (and geez that would make you feel good ). I then came down here to Albury and went to Kennel Club - what a disappointment!!! Took my 13 year old along and the instructor yelled at her in front of the class and so of course she never wanted to go back again. She and I had different trainers so that our dogs wouldn't be distracted by wanting to play with each other and she would look over at me and BEG to go home. I was just saying to OH tonight that I wish I could find somewhere to train down here that was like where I went in Sydney - it was fun and positive and I know my dogs enjoyed because I enjoyed it. Can't say the same for Kennel Club down here - my dog just lay down on the grass and refused to move....
  12. I've had a rescue dog that had a huge umby hernia and it was repaired when she had a caesar (came in pregnant). Also - just out of interest, my 3 month old daughter has one, looks disgusting - like a "doodle on her tummy" as my OH says. I was really worried about it but the drs said that as long as you can push it in its fine. If it doesn't repair itself by the time she is a year old they will operate and repair it. Can only assume that if it is no huge drama on little humans its no huge drama on little dogs....
  13. For Pirate, my beautiful greyhound puppy who made it to my heart but never my home. Rest in peace my beautiful Pirate man - I dreamed of you lying on the lounge next to me and wish so much that I had been able to experience it. A snakebite took you before you could truly be mine but you were always mine in my heart - I loved you without ever meeting you.
  14. True - I'm always saying things like that to my daughter. Unfortunately however I took her with me and we "started" out together at Kennel Club training here. I had done training previously in Sydney but she'd never had hands-on experience herself. I thought it would be a good bonding thing (she is 12 after all ). Anyway - the lady who ran her class would yell at her if she did something "wrong" and point out to the class what she was doing wrong. She was horrible! End result was that my daughter doesn't want anything to do with training now so I suppose I should have said trainers that are fun...
  15. I wish I had access to training that was fun!! The only one here (that I have been able to find) is very old fashioned and just as you described.
  16. Definitely interested from a rescue point of view. Melbourne or Sydney would be great for me but would depend on costs.
