UPDATE: The Vet called me today with "good" and bad news The 'good' news is that my little man has a UTI which is treatable with meds so all the wetting should sort itself out The bad news is that he has, to quote the vet "Very notable hip dysplasia" :-( my poor boy.

Alfie has only had minimal exercise and we sorted his diet when he was much younger to suit his likes, tummy upsets and overall demeanour (the diet change made such a wonderful difference) We haven't let him jump around, go up and down stairs or anything like that. I think it is just one of those things. I remember having a Labrador as a teenager and he had such a bad time with hip Dysplasia, the breeder approached my dad and said she couldn't do anything with him. So dad said we would take him. He was kept comfortable and everything was done to keep him happy and healthy. He passed when he was 13. He was a wonderfully spoilt dog.

I can't be sure if he was dreaming. It happens a lot. However... I have sent of an email asking advise. I'm not sure of the process of purchasing a puppy with his dysplasia (if that is what he has, will see what is going on when they x-ray him) Surly it can't be anyones fault

No no I don't want to accuse them of anything at all. They were so nice and polite to us and we love our Alfie pup dearly. I have sent a general email asking how her and her doggies are and have asked if she has come across anything like this with her dogs or past dogs, also asked if she has what she did to help the dog.

I have been trying to work out how to email the breeder without sounds like I'm bitter or accusing? I am well aware dogs can come with medical issues.... I just don't know how to word it

Well we have been to the vet tonight (a new vet) she was a wonderful kind woman would did a full assessment on my boy. Seems a though he has loose patella, possible hip dysplasia and she isn't sure about the tinkle problem. SOOOOO.... on Thursday he has been booked in for an x-ray and a urinary analysis.

We have a cat but it doesn't seem like he is scenting. It just seems like an accidental thing..??... he is releasing a massive wee.

    Bed Wetting

I wish I could say it was a full on day but we only did a little bit of training and spent the rest of the day relaxing as it is horrible and rainy. There has been an occasion when he has wet the bed after puppy play group and I put that down to exhaustion but last night was just weird. The night before last he stood up and piddled the bed. He hasn't been checked for a UTI as such. I think I'll be ringing a new vet tomorrow. He has had a chiro come to see him and has had acupuncture etc but at the moment I can't afford to get her to come back as my eldest is undergoing screening for ASD (ASD screening seems to be a money making scheme for doctors if you ask me)

    Bed Wetting

HI all, I have a 6 month old Brittany pup. In the time we have had him we have had troubles with toilet training him. It has taken a long time to get him to "tell" us he needs to go to go out. So it is great that when he is awake he is able to tell us he wants out however when he is asleep he occasionally wets the bed. It is not just a small overflow wee it is a full on bladder release. He is desexed - we thought it may help eradicate the problem as one of his testicles didn't drop we thought it was the source of the issue. He has some either pelvis or hip issues (he has low tone in his back legs and sometimes sits lazy) He seemed to have some tummy trouble when we first got him. He had super runny poos that were frequent - barf food and protexin seems to have sorted this out. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is could be? Or tell me if it is something that is normal?
  13. My brittany boy Alfie is an absolute joy!!! He just fits in to our family so well. It is like we have always had him. He will be 13 weeks tomorrow. This is my boys Heart
  14. Tomorrow is the day we pick up our brittany pup Alfie :-) Let hope this weather in South East QLD calms down a little and there are no flooded waters on our way out!
  15. Sorry for spamming everyone with photos. I just cant wait to bring this guy home
  16. We went to visit our five and a half week old brittany pup today. He is such a beautiful little lad. sort of placid but with a playful streak. he is a wonderful boy. I cant wait to take him home I apologise if this image doesn't work it is my first time putting up a photo
  17. My beautiful brittany boy is growing fast (4.5 weeks old now) He has been named Alfie (or if you are my husband, Allan) We are heading out to visit him next Sunday so I will take a few photos of him and post them up. I have photo of him that the breeder has sent but I though I would wait till I went to visit him so I could put my own photos up. I can't wait until I get to see him.
  18. The time has come!! My breeder has let me know that a litter of puppies has been born and there is a little male brittany pup for my family :-) I'm so excited! The best Christmas news ever!! My 18 month old son has already decided what he wants to call the little guy (it is the only name he could say hehe) When I was told of the birth I was little nanny from 101 Dalmatians "the puppies are 'ere" when this little guy comes to us our family will be complete :-) 2 little boys, 1 little male cat and 1 little male pup. Perfect little family for us
  19. Suziwong66 thanks for your advice on talking to my chosen breeder. Wrote a nice little email to her and she wrote back with a really friendly reply. She also sent another email a couple of days later with an interesting article for me. I know it is strange because I don't really know the lady from a grain of salt but I love hearing how her dogs are, it just fills me with hope that I will have a beautiful pup from her one day
  20. that's not always an issue so don't lose heart...if you build a good relationship with the breeder they often bump you because you've bothered to develop a relationship with them. This was the case for us with Wilbur; we kept in close contact with the breeder; short emails to touch base and engage in conversation etc. We wanted a boy; there were others ahead of us in the list that wanted boys but when the litter arrived and there was only one boy we were given preference How do you keep in touch and form a good relationship without bothering them? I have caught up with the lovely lady at 2 shows to see her beautiful dogs and and I took my husband with me to meet her and see the dogs as well. I was worried about contacting her too much. I sent her an email after the 1st show to thank her for taking the time to talk to me about her kennels and her breeding. She is a lovely lady and very easy to talk to
  21. Current on a waiting list for a beautiful brittany pup. It is driving me crazy. I know there are people ahead of me so there is no guarantee I will get one from the next litter. I just keep learning more and more about the breed and keep learning about having the pup turn into a therapy / classroom dog. This will keep my brittany and myself very busy and will be very rewarding
  22. Thank you. The rain won't affect the event at all?
  23. Can anyone tell me if the meet at Durack, Brisbane is on tomorrow?
