  1. I want to get Luna a new bed but I'm a bit torn on costs. I really like the look of the Henry Hottie beds, but at the same time for a GSD size we're looking at over $150.

The other thing I was thinking of was buying a cot size mattress and sewing my own cover for it...

I've also made stuffed fleece beds for her in the past but I'm wanting something that's giving a bit more support, she rearranges herself throughout the night so I feel like she's not that comfy.

What's everyone else's opinion? Is that much money worth it for a great quality bed?

  2. I've got 2 alternative suggestions. My kmart sells similar to these in the pet section, but obviously not super quality because it's kmart. Luna hasn't broken it though! Our cheap stores like shiploads and the reject shop have also had similar at times.

I also found a plush toy with it in that promptly got destuffed - I intend to replant it into one of her tuffy toys for durability. I'll let you know if I can figure out what the toy was!

Edit: pretty certain it's Justin beaver. I found him at a local pet store

  3. Ernie gets the Grain free Salmon kibble and has done since around 8 months. He gets odd 'flavour treats' such as sardines, an egg or tuna or the (very occasional!) drippings from the roast pan. He gets two chicken necks on top.

So his diet has been same same since pupoydom.

Since he scoffs everything - I'm assuming he's happy. Mind you, he's a Labrador and a frat boy so I'm pretty sure he'd be happy as long as it's FOOD FOOD FOOD!

What brand are you using Stressy? Grain free salmon sounds delicious

  4. Good to know some others do it as well. The plan is to supplement the dry with rmb's, yoghurt, sardines, eggs, just like we have before (previously with royal canin, and then with barf).

I have the small fish and potato bag at the moment, and a sample of the lamb and rice on its way. She's definitely showing more enthusiasm for the black hawk than any dry we've tried before.

  5. Just wondering if anyone who is feeding dry alternates between flavours in the brand they are using?

I'm trialling Luna on Black Hawk and as it comes in different flavours was thinking if she goes well on it, rotating between the flavours to keep it from being too boring. Last time we were feeding dry was Royal Canin - GSD formula and it only came in the one flavour so not something I've thought about before.

  6. I couldn't leave my pet to get put down. My old pony went down in the paddock and couldn't get up, it was her time. I waited with her head in my lap until the vet had arrived and given her her wings. There's no way I would leave my dog or cats with strangers, I'm there for them till the end.

Not judging those who do leave though, we all process things differently

  7. I always assumed I would have kids because that seemed to be what people did. Where the dog has come into it, after toilet training a puppy in the middle of the night...(which my OH conveniently slept through) I'm not sure I could cope with getting up to a baby at all hours

Of course I'm still young (I'm under 30) so it may change, but for now I'm perfectly content with my dog, partner, and no small people.

  8. I don't think I've commented in here yet, but BSRA I just wanted to commend you on coming in here and clarifying things. Sounds like Rosie has the right team in her corner and I wish you all the best in finding her a family. I follow a few GSD rescues and do prefer the more factual style as opposed to 'first canine'.

  9. My dog is a huge priority in my life and anyone who criticises that isn't likely to last long as a friend

    I own this shirt

Yea, ok so you can't post that and not say where I can get one with an Aussie on it? laugh.gif

I made it through spreadshirt, this link should take you to what I did, just change your text and look for a picture of an Aussie, or remove the picture entirely ;)

  10. I have the ruffwear one as well. I don't notice it impeding shoulder movement myself, so would also be very interested if it actually does. I don't use the front attach for normal walking, but will use it for something like reactive dog class so if I miss a signal and she lunges forward she gets turned back towards me.
