  1. Hi, I have used HSD active and the results on post whelp bitches are outstanding! It does dry out the coat a bit and they smell a little more "doggier' but it works so i will accept the cons. I mainly use Supercoat puppy. Regarding the RSPCA, I am against many of their policies now,but they still get stray, neglected animals, so i will continue buying HSD but I do not condone the RSPCAs decision to support banning certain breedes of Dogs.
  2. Great site, been there many times, You want barkers? be wary of neighbours the most non aggressive barker will still attract the attention of your council if it is a Rottweiler! Many Rottweilers i have had in my care have been great yard security dogs with minimal prompting, but because people try and make them noisy they often do not want them any more, because they lacked general obedience to start with and a dog who learns to bark alot and is encouraged to do so WILL! Cover all the basics first if you intend on purchasing a Rottweiler.
  3. Thought i would mention......my dogs are on supercoat puppy and they do get meat scraps, and egg. The adult supercoat does not do well with them.
  4. my dogs and puppies are all supercoaters! we tried BONNIE EUKANUBA SCIENCE DIET PURINA ROYAL CANIN ETC...... It is reliable, the dogs love it and the pups are mad for it! I do use science diet some times for bitches in whelp and just after. The proof is in the pudding(below)
  5. well, many pet owners and breeders use SUPERCOAT i am one of them also. Price does in many cases reflect the quality but not always! I have indeed tried many higher priced brands but for my dogs they proved to be a waste of $$$$ I use SUPERCOAT and sometimes SCIENCE DIET ACTIVE both great foods. Many dogs will have problems with their bowels if you change their diet frequently, my pups are raised on supercoat puppy only. All dogs need to thrive! so if you buy EUKANUBA and your pup enjoys it thats Great, if you buy pal puppy and your pup enjoys it thats Great too! It really is about what your dogs will thrive on, no good buying something they will not touch!
  6. My Dogs all get a large variety of fruit, Though a male Rotty who has just arrived ,is still turning his nose up, he was fed cow hind legs and kibble! The puppies all love Apple, pear, mango, banana, they get corn cobs occasionally, but these are removed within a day, so they do not get broken off..........
  7. SCRAPS.... mine all love them especially fresh lasagne, i do not expect it to be of any benefit to them They just REALLY enjoy it, I have seen many dogs on raw mostly on farms, when my dogs ate leg bones they got to protective and eventually started on a search for their own Raw live stock live!!! NO THEY WERE NOT ROTTWEILERS AND IT WAS OVER A DECADE AGO
  8. Hello gossco57, I read most of your initial post, I think a thread such as this will surely stir the pot..if only a little, I do not feed BARF to any dogs i own or rescue, I too give a combination of a high quality dryfood and cooked steak or chicken breast vegies they have instead of cow legs(those huge bones) to knaw on, Personally i only go near a vet when i must! I have never had problems with physical or coat conditions, DOGS ARE NOT OBLIGATE CARNIVORES so i wont feed them as such. The canine eating habit is best described as omnivorus not just my opinion but many experts etc agree to this.... It has been and will be one of those "GREAT" DEBATES FOREVER ;) Petfood companies are not the only folks not into barf plenty of people across the entire world do not promote raw feeding habits on domesticated animals p.s I enjoyed the read
  9. Me and my Rotts will be sending positive vibes your way stewie and mum:D And for all the lame doggies and owners out there at the moment be warm be well
  10. GD, HONEY YOU ARE PARANOID, MY ANIMALS ALSO GET FRESH MEAT AND FRESH VEG, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, BUT COMMON SENSE DOES! OBLIGATE CARNIVORE??? SORRY INCORRECT CURE FORWHAT AILS YOUR DOGS????? STILL NOT A LOGICAL TITLE IS IT??? SORRY GUYS TO INTERUPT...
  11. For people still learning about DOGS and what to feed them, a thread such as this one should not be titled CURE FOR WHAT AILS YOUR DOG?????? it is not logical .....Many come here trying to find a solution to a problem not be PREACHED TO ON THE PREFERRED EATING HABITS OF SOME........ I or anybody else here dont need to compare literature found on the internet or take any challenges. the arguement between meat and not is as old as the mountains :D It is really good it works for your dogs, GD but it is not for all CANINE IS CLASSIFIED IN THE ORDER OF CARNIVORA, SO ARE MANY OTHER SPECIES NOT ALL THESE SURVIVE/THRIVE ON MEAT ALONE
  12. SAS greyhoundangel, GoodLink Great danez, perhaps this should be called "The meat thread!" I wont say anymore
  13. Hello All, I have to go with Ellz on this one, Spending more $$$ does not equal better quality at all some foods may have a higher digestability for dogs and so can eat less of it..... But dogs wont thrive if they dont eat it either! I have tried many foods but i will remain loyal to what works and for my dogs that is supercoat
  14. I have had litters on supercoat puppy , They have done very well, but i must say i have had other pups/dogs try it and the result got very runny! It appears the pups who got this from 4 weeks were absolutely fine they thrived on it .... But i have heard of dogs just not taking to particular foods... Their mum was on iams puppy as she needed a highly digestable food after her c-section, she like many bitches vomited quite a lot after the op... she hated it and stopped eating all together
  15. Yep dobermandave, it is absolutely fine as long as you give them less than what you would of a normal adult based food, lots of people also feed puppy formulas to bitches in whelp and after... your friend is right  for example if i feed an adult 7 cups of normal then i should feed the adult 4 or 5 cups of puppy food.
  16. Bonnie gives my dogs the runs too! i have tried all of them too... i stay with supercoat puppy for the adults and sometimes box 1 gold (greyhound formula) i get it from the local stockfeeds and they sell supercoat puppy $35.00 18KG BAG box 1 gold (greyhound formula)$33.00 18kg bag may not be the most popular on the forums but keeps my dogs in exellent shape!
  17. Have tried SCIENCE DIET BONNIE EUKANUBA ROYAL CANIN ADVANCE and many others tried but i stick with 2 foods supercoat puppy (even for adults) box 1 gold (greyhound formula) my choices are fresh veg and meat scraps too
