  1. Mine goes banana's, busting his butt with his wagging and wriggling and throwing himself all around the place when I sing. ..... funnily enough, so do my friends
  2. Well, the Kickatinalong is the closest to what I was wanting in the first place - in fact, it could even be the same pattern, perhaps. I'll do a measure up (accurately - thanks Stormie) and contact them. I thought I might go for the "grass green" colour. A nice contrast to my boy's rich red coat, do you think? And perhaps another set in blue. And I'll look at the Chilly Dog one as well, although I need to work some more before I can spend on that as well. I rather like their rain slickers too. I've got to stop spending. I don't know why I'm doing a splurge. I've just spent about $700 on blood tests and now have meds and extra food to buy.
  3. LOL ... what?! A big tough Ridgy Didge ? Yep - I can imagine it. Hey! I just realised that I have "RidgyDidge" written under my avatar, and note that you also have that. Don't know when you put yours there. Hope you don't think I copied.
  4. I don't know. Perhaps it is something they don't understand - something new, scarey. And that triggers a defence response. Perhaps the noises, body language and actions of the other dog triggers a prey response. And perhaps mother nature has a reason for that in the wild, where it goes back to survival of the pack.
  5. Just wondering if all other countries recognize and publish all titles gained in Aust, and do these titles appear on the dogs “new” pedigree papers when issued. Don't know the answer to that, Pam. Good question.
  6. It's somewhat stupid, really. Do ANKC think that by not noting it, it never happened? And that's their way of getting around supporting the dogs and pretending they don't have the "attack" ;) titles? Surely they wouldn't think we'd not see through that camouflage though. Although perhaps it doesn't matter to them what WE see through or not. Perhaps it only matters to them what they can and can't argue to and with authorities.
  7. Health Food Stores. I get a 50g packet (doesn't sound much, but it doesn't weigh very heavy) for $8.20.
  8. Kal (my previous girl - bhcs) used to do this. It was her 'signal' to me that she wanted to be covered up. If I didn't do anything, she'd continue with her cushion bed (it was much larger than that in your video clip - which btw, I think you're very clever to be able to put it up) until it flipped over and on top of her. And there she'd be, sandwiched between the carpeted floor surface and her 1.5 foot deep cushion bed ..... happy as larry.
  9. I know - but then the fact that these dogs had those titles and exemptions perhaps leant some strength to the Schutzhund argument for Schutzhund to be recognised? I don't know - but one could guess and it was something I thought at the time I found out that they had been granted exemption. Perhaps it is a cynical view. But there's so much skulduggery that goes on in government and what seems to be 'deals' between government and super-orgs, that's it is very difficult to be otherwise. I wish I didn't feel this way and saw the world and all who were in it as wonderful all the time.
  10. In the photo, I imagined the material to be a shiney, thin nylon type so wasn't thinking they'd be warm at all. Better, knowing it is polar fleece. Thanks for the tip about the measurements. These do look similar to that in the pattern I picked. I'll have a look at the Kickatinalong (love the name) website. Cheers for that. Erny
  11. In the meantime, whilst you're trying to find the cause for the allergic reaction (good luck - I hope you manage to find it soon and without too much difficulty), try treating the affected areas of your dog's skin with an application of Calendula Tea. This is how I treated my boy with his skin issues whilst I worked through things much as you are, Missin Bastian, and in this way I was able to avoid the administration of drugs such as cortisone. I'm still working on and through my fella's health issues - they don't seem to be related to food allergy as much as they are likely to be related to something not functioning as it should. But all the same - I've avoided use of chemical drugs and know that at the worst, I still have them up my sleeve to turn to later down the track, if I really have to. And I was able to do that with the Calendula which had my boy going from being driven mad with itch from the hundreds and hundreds of hives that covered his body and were threatening infection, to a dog where the majority of the hives had reduced in size to at least half and no longer itched madly, inside 24 hours, with a further vast improvement after another couple of applications in the next 24 hours after that. Angry red rashes were reduced to pink and then to nothing in almost the same time frame. The Calendula will not fix the cause, but it is something to do to help keep your dog comfortable in his skin until you can.
  12. Are they the same as what is on Orbit in the previous picture, Stormie? The material looks different and I agree, they look super comfy. Mandela's pretty good with me pushing his legs through sleeves and what nots, so I don't think I'll have too much trouble with getting them on and off and I do prefer the thought of no straps, clips, buttons or other fastners for 'sleep wear'.
  13. I agree with Grumpette. He is a handsome devil .
  14. Ahhhhh .... I was wondering about this and why they'd then remove the title from their records. That is really shifty, if this is part of their motivation.
  15. ..... I think that's really special, Star. She sounds like a real character.
  16. Oh . That's ok Pandii. Although I was going to buy the pattern anyway and for the purpose, provide it to the person who would make them. But at least your keeping your word to the person you speak of, and that's not something to sneeze at :D.
  17. They look good too, SK. I still like 'my' pattern with the legs, but the Chilly Dog sweater seems to have the clip attachment at the top of the dog's back? Perhaps this is adjustable - if it is not, I might be a bit concerned that my boy (with his spondylosis) could find this uncomfortable. I guess it might not be anything to be concerned about - hard to tell without literally seeing. The Chilly Dog sweater would be good for during the daytime (indoor/outdoor) where the long leg PJ's would be more likely to get wet. I'd consider a pair of both .
  18. As per the topic title, I'm looking for someone who might like to do a sewing job for me. I haven't yet got the pattern (but I'll get it) - but I need some PJ's for Mandela. I really like this one (refer "D" in the picture) and have seen them on a friend's RR. They fitted really well and seemed very comfortable on the dog. My boy has spondylosis so I want something that isn't bulky nor over heavy, but which will help to keep his back warm on the cooler nights. A paid job - but of course it depends on how much. My Mum (who is now 83) used to do all my sewing, but she has problems with her hands now and sadly, sewing, which she loves, isn't something she can easily manage any more. And me? I can't sew. I'm the sort that the moment I put my foot on the pedal, the cotton all ravels and knots up and I get into a big mess before I've even started . Anyway - the pattern is : KWIK SEW 3076.
  19. Thanks JM266. Have subscribed to their email list and have also sent them an email requesting advice as to their next anticipated sale date. Cheers Erny
  20. Hey! I'm thinking of getting my boy a Snooza Buddy Bed. Anyone know when the next Snooza warehouse sale is going to be?
  21. Admittedly I had to bite my tongue because in your last response to me (the one you asked me to stop talking about it) it was clear (to me) that you misunderstood what I was saying. But I didn't feel I had the right of reply. But that's ok, because it is your thread and what was being discussed was not on topic . And besides - I know through (multiple x multiple dog) experience what fantastic training collars e-collars can be and are with the right method and how much additional freedom it can permit dogs who otherwise might be deprived it. And how happy those same dogs are. Where you misunderstood my point is ...... WHAT misuse is it that everyone talks about? Where is it happening? How often?
  22. Not as likely (taking into account also the other things that you do with them each day). Possibly a separation related behaviour. Possibly eliciting/demanding your return. Possibly a ritual that' become habit. I'd be looking into leadership and where your dogs think they fit in the heirarchy order (I always check on that pretty much as a matter of course as IMO it sets the foundation to many things). And quite possibly utilising the anti-bark. I agree with K9Pro that speaking with your neighbours is a constructive approach - I'm sure they'll be relieved to know you're working on the problem and that they don't feel it is a "forever" thing for which their only alternative is reporting to Council. People don't generally feel good either about approaching Council or approaching owners to complain, but offering them an invitation to let you know if/when there is an issue tends to release inhibitive tensions in neighbourhood relations. I prefer to know that a trainer/behaviourist has visited the dog; assessed its behaviour and health as being suitable for electronic anti-bark use; witnessed the dog's response to ensure correct stim setting; and also to show and explain use to the owner; .... before a corrective collar is utilised. I also like to think that the trainer/behaviourist provides follow-up support to ensure the method is working and that all is well with the dog, the owners and of course, the world . ETA: I also agree with K9Pro regarding the anti-bark collar type recommendation. The electronic anti-bark collars I have used to assist clients with excessive barking issues is the Dogtra YS300. I like this one for the fact that YOU set the level to suit the dog. I'm not keen on the idea of the levels ramping up according to how many times the dog barks. I used to fuss around with the spray collars before going to the electronic anti-bark collars, but found that they were not nearly as effective. It proved much more efficient all round to move straight to the electronic anti-bark, and as I said, the level can be set so that the minimum but effective level stim is applied.
  23. Thanks Staranais - you're a gem for straightening out that one for me . See .... you NEED to come live with me. Well, I guess it's a case if ME needing you to come live with me, LOL.
  24. yes, it is. I kind of get the feeling that the digestive issues came first - with potential for malabsorption being the cause for later thyroid dysfunction. Regardless, I am hoping it is the other way around though. Oops - "Iodine" .... THAT's what Kelp provides, doesn't it. I was thinking "iron". Or are they the same thing? I'm getting confused, LOL.
