  1. Hey Bel softball is in the mornings but this week is the start of the finals, so I'll be free in about two weeks, where do you do flyball? is it like agility where you join a club? or is it in with your obedience training? Oh and are you with Austrailan Obedience Training? or another Obed club?
  2. leopuppy04 we just got put up into the second class, sorry dont know what the level is called we only did it for afew months, there was two of us, my niece did it aswell. My niece has a lab and she would be a great flyball dog as she loves the ball and always bring it back for more, I should get her into flyball aswell
  3. Hey Shoemoster (Belinda isn't it??? sorry I'm shocking with names and its been so long ) How is Eddie and Molly going? I joined Berwick ADT obed to start with but with my daughter playing softball on saturdays I starting going to the one at Chesterfield Farm at scoresby on sundays, but I've not seem them do flyball only agility? but I haven't been for awhile but Minx is great with her abed, early last year we past to go up into the extreme team but sadly I only signed up for control obedience and socialisation so to go up into extreme I had to pay the extra and it was before xmas and just didn't have the dollars so just been keeping her training up, I haven't been to a class in awhile now so I should go down to refresh her memory Tollersowned thanks for the info I did alittle lesson with Minx inside yesterday by rolling the ball along the floor and when she had it in her mouth I would recall her and use the clicker when she brought it back and give her a food reward, to start with when I recalled her she would drop the ball and come back, but ofcourse she got no click or reward so she got the hint to bring the ball back, but I only did it for 5 mins as I dont want to over load her, so I'll do some more today, I'm thinking after she gets the idea to bring the ball back and not drop it and come back without the ball, I'll start putting the ball at the other end of the room and reving her up to get it and bring it back, then I'll start doing it outside....take baby steps She is good with other dogs and people, we do obedience training (although haven't been in awhile ) the only thing she may want to do is play with theother dogs, but I guess once she gets use to it she will get over the playing thing
  4. The one in Doveton, we loved it and Minx was getting really good at it but the time just didn't suit
  5. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering how do you know if your dog is cutout for flyball? she use to do agility but sadly we had to give it away as our classes were at 9 pm on a wednesday night and we just couldn't make it so I was wondering about flyball, Minx will chase a ball but doesn't bother to bring it back, she is very fast and can turn on a dime, and loves her tug-o-war rope, so would she be any good or not?
  6. Ollie1 can you please send me a pic of your agility leads, PM me if you want my email addy, or post a pic here? up to you, but I'm very interested in seeing one
  7. Hi Bel, I havent read all the posts (I probably shoud have) but I have the same problem with Minx and Dakoda, but we keep them separate and do our welcome home thing out side and wait till Minx has calm down before we let her inside, but if the dogs are together they run around like maniacs for hours
  8. That sounds great Ollie1, what do you make them out of? or can you buy them? Sagittarian I am south/east of melbourne but robbos sells some black dog range.
  9. Great thanks everyone I was out buying doggie stuff today and didn't even think about looking for the short leads probably because they do look like someones old lead chewed up Ok another visit to robbo's or petstock
  10. At Agility I see some poeple with a very short lead on their dogs for working on offlead, they almost look like a lead that the dog has chewed down to 4 or 5 inches long, more like a handle lol but does anyone know where to buy one? I'm in Melbourne.
  11. Once I get to a level good enough to start doing comps, will my club tell me what I need to do/join before I can enter? or is it up to me to know?
  12. Thanks Seita its early days yet for us, still got one week to go in level 1 and am really starting to enjoy it
  13. Thanks guys, you can see I'm still very much a learner at this last night's lesson was fantastic we got to have a little run up at the tunnels and Minx flew in and out the other side flat out, and she run right to me which was great Which brings me to another question........ when you enter competitions and win, you win titles someone said? but can you still win a title for your dog if the dog is unpapered/unregistered?
  14. Hi Minx and I have our 4th class tonight with Agility training and we have been training at home as often as I can (which hasn't been alot over easter) but Minx loves going over the 'A' frames and boards etc, but how can I slow her down??? I put my hand in front of her and tell her when to come and all that, but she tries to run/walk past my hand (I put my hand down to slow her) we are up to putting a piece of paper with food on it at the bottom of the boards to teach them to stop and thats going fine, but I want to know about walking across the baords, any hints?
  15. The brackets the poles sit on are actually just joiners with a section cut out... Thanks for that I'll have a look next payday
  16. WOW I love all the pics keep them coming in, Minx has done her second class now and we got to play a little on the fun stuff and we had a ball, she is (so far) taking to it very well, and I've been reading up on weaving training (early days yet) I've read about buying some PVC and making your own jumps, but can you buy the brackets for the poles to sit on?
  17. Hi as I have said in another thread, Minx and I have just started agility and would love to know as much about this sport as I can and see any pics any of you may have? and I'd love to see any staffy pics doing agility, got any then come on and show me
  18. CH I have just joined up at Action Dogs in Doveton Vic, where do you go? Minx and I are in control class at our obedience club which is ADT, but have only been in this class for 2 weeks, so we are getting there and advanced class is next for us, but it will be awhile before we get there so can relax for awhile
  19. Hi All We also did our first agility last night and had a ball, we are only new to this level 1 but Minx was very good and I'm looking forward to getting on the fun stuff Are there many staffy's doing this sport??
  20. Yes I agree, at my obedience club we are asked to clean up our doggy poo, which I fully agree with (nothing worse than stepping in doggy do do) and I have one young girl in my class that every week watches her dog poo and just walks away and NEVER cleans up after her, and I alway want to say something to her but worry she might get nasty and make it hard to do training each week, then I think to tell the instructor but feel I'm being a dober?? so I keep my mouth shut and my head down...
  21. I read ChelseasMum links about ACV and now I'm really confused everyone said to add to water, yet I was told afew months ago to add it to food, which I have been doing, so is this wrong? also my older dog (Border Collie) doesn't burn the grass only seems to be in Minx area??
  22. Hmmmm I am very interested in this thread as I've noticed dead patches in my back yard and noticed its where Minx pee's, but I put apple cider vinegar in her dinner? so this isn't working then
  23. I feed MInx some Omega 3,6 and 9 oils in her dinner every night and once a week give her a can of sardines in her breakfast and if you look at her pic below you will see her glowing coat ;)
