  1. thanks for that kja. At the moment I'm thinking I go with my friends 70-200 and when I want to update I can get pretty much what I paid for this one to upgrade. What is the different between the fisheye and the wide angle in terms of effects in the photo? i only ask because i know that the wide angle lenses can also distort slightly at the edges?
  2. I have a canon 450D and am looking at upgrading my telephoto lens to an L series. I have an amazing offer from a friend and can get the 70-200 f/4.0 USM for $550. Now until this point, while I've toyed wiht the idea to upgrade the telephoto lens, I've never really looked into it. So I guess my main question is: What does everyone prefer? the 70-200 f/4.0 USM or the 70-200 f/2.8 USM? Recommendations? Other than weight, what are the main differences I would find? What would make you pay almost double to go for the lower f stop? What do I shoot? Mostly dogs and dog agility. 90% of the time outdoors, but in June we have the agility nationals which is solely indoors, so I want to have something versatile enough that would allow me to shoot in such an area. I say this because we occasionally show inside too :). Is it worth the extra $$ and weight? Lastly, I'm also quite interested in getting either a fisheye or a really wide angle lens. I guess I've not really looked into it before, but I'm curious about how versatile it is and what sort of photography you would use it for? My cousing has shown me a few shots he has taken with these types of lenses and they are truly amazing. Good focus on his subject (often his kids) with a great amount of background in it too. Is it the type of lens you would use often or hardly at all? I am open to any suggestions that you may have as to what would be a good lens(es) to look at? I think he recommended the 10-22 but I can't remember the specifications (plus he has a Nikon, so not sure what the Canon equiv. is?!) Thanks in advance!
  3. LOL wow huge litters!! Maybe I'll get some nice ones to choose from if Kinta follows suit ;) Great news about your girl Jr_inoz! can start to feel my bubba's moving around now. It's such an awesome feeling when your hand gets thumped out of the way :)
  4. Beautiful little Gundog babies Hawkesdale and GL! GL When can I come for a sniff of some puppy breath
  5. Yup - once they are here and thriving I relax and enjoy them, but when it's getting to those last stages I worry about everything - what if she only has a couple (because I have a few really good homes waiting), what if something terrible goes wrong, and what if she needs a ceasar again! Even then, a c-Sect is not soo bad if you have healthy pups at the end. Loosing them all or some would be heartbreaking Oooh - good luck underfoot! I'm the same as you - my dogs are my life, so I ALWAYS worry! I think I worry more because if anything did happen to one of my dogs at this time, I would feel as though it was my fault... After our last try (ie disaster), we have been anxious from day one, and its getting worse! I think I would feel more relaxed if it was Holly, for example, who was having a litter. Ruby is off for another ultrasound next week to check how the babies are going. Good luck Lyndsay! Oh I know all about that too!!
  6. Does anyone else get really anxious in the final weeks before whelping?! I'm imagining all these horrible things that can go wrong and start worrying about the smallest things . Does it get easier the more litters you have?! But then, on the other hand, I'm so impatient for them to come, I can't wait!! Hahaha!
  7. Thanks for that CFS. Are you able to PM me some contact details for the agility committee, or a link I may follow so that I may contact them? I have tried from the site previously, but haven't been able to get in touch with anyone
  8. Can someone help me with the ruling about girls in season?? It's very hard for me to predict 4 months ahead what my girls might be doing - and the nationals IMO is not like a normal trial- ie: most money I will be out of pocket there is $50 and usually you enter two weeks before. But with the risk of two girls in season I would really like to know that should I need to pull a girl out, what is an appropriate amount of notice to be able to get some refund. I am happy to not have a full refund to cover printing costs etc, but to loose almost $200 on entries with something I can't control is too much of a gamble for me....
  9. Lovely babies Hawkesdale!! Congratulations!! But may your beginning of the Feb litters NOT be the trend for size ;) GL - I could feel her last pups all the time, but it's soo long ago now I can't remember when it started. Mind you - missy K is not quite 7 weeks yet, so I may just be impatient ;)
  10. She's massive underfoot! Best of luck hawksdale! As for me - still haven't felt any pups moving yet . C'mon kiddies - I wanna know you're movin around in there! LOL!
  11. GL smelly looks sooo much like her mum :). As for the sun among, kinta is doing the opposite, sunning her belly under the aircon!!
  12. Naww look at Ellie!! How many are you betting on GL??
  13. That is weird BB!! Kinta has 8 and tahli and Zara 10& 11 respectively! Weird huh!
  14. BB - due date is not until the 22nd Feb :). GL - yeah - we are prog testing from day 60 just to make sure... incase she has inertia again :). My vet is 24hrs which is a big help :)
  15. Might as well join in to! Kinta is getting bigger by the second- she's about 6.5wks now . I feel soooo disorganized this time around! I'm also a nervous mess. Last time we had inertia, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen again, but also lots of my friends have lost pups at whelping or just before recently too so I'm seriously worried and just want some happy, healthy pups!! Compared to kinta's last litter though, she's already bigger than she was atthe same stage past time...so who knows how many she's having!!
  16. Same here, I hate showing in summer months for reasons like today when it was bloody hot! Couldn't let the opportunity pass though and entered, even though I was meant to be working.......changed jobs and yay I could show! Can't pass up those 6 precious points when they are so far and few between. Well done to Leo and Amanda, he is an amazing boy and just looks a million bucks! Such a great achievement! Well done! ETA: Sorry about all the ! marks, just very happy with today's show! Thanks TO - he's divine to show and it's a real shame I don't get the opportunity to show him more often! I love showing my girls, but there is something very different about showing my special boy! I had to giggle today when the breed judge was confused and had to ask the steward a number of times if he had judged the dog (Leo) before. He had confused him for his brother who was being shown in the normal class. Both judges really commented on how much they liked Mr Leo :). always lovely to hear that!
  17. what a shame that some are not keen to have them, but hopefully the entries will speak for itself! Was the newbie the one that won NIG?! She's lovely - she does agility and there were quite a few of them there in the show line up that had multi-titled dogs which is just LOVELY to see! thanks everyone for the congrats! I'm so proud of him :). Not far to go now.... would be much faster if they ran more (local) neuter shows... as next 3-4 months or more I can't really travel
  18. Nup - I havent' got my numbers either, so hopefully they are sent to my home addy and will be waiting for me today . Cheque has been cashed, neuter cert asked for and received so I KNOW I'm in, but I'm paranoid because I'll be soooo upset if I miss this due to the neuter classes on offer!
  19. Thats great news Lyndsay! Can't wait to watch little Irish babies grow!
  20. To the OP - any updates?! Something like this should be reported without doubt. Feel free to PM me as I'd be happy to assist with anything. I live in the area and would certainly hate to come into contact with dogs like this - especially if they were off leash!!
  21. I've bought their stuff a couple of times and have never had an issue
