  1. Hello dog lovers, need your advise: What are the normal signs of old age and what changes should I look out for that need immediate vet care? My beautiful Vizsla Gus is 13-14yrs and in the last couple of weeks tends to drop on grassy patches on our walks. I no longer walk him as far for fear of stressing him too much. Is this arthritis? He's on/off Pernaese powder but wondering if there is something better/effective? Thanks in advance.
  2. This is so distressing. Thoughts and prayers to you pampa !!
  3. ohhh...I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you. RIP sweet Brodie.
  4. Yes - really peculiar but the rocks work for us. We use to have HUGE patches on our lawn but reduced dramatically after these magical rocks. What the goony googoo is in them rocks? And why do we have to change them 2-3 months? What's with that? I thought rocks were rocks. hmmm... ours is not to question why...
  5. oh my gawd. The dyson looks like Alien. How cool is that.
  6. ok - going to recce the Dyson. But interested in those fancy seat covers with loop things. You're all spot-on there. The hair goes right through the *&% sheet - into the car seat fabric! Doh - why that didn't occur to me before..I'll never know. I thought is was because he shakes himself - in the car!!! - or else the hair just goes everywhere when I have all the windows down. Yes, prevention is better.. sigh.. thanks everyone. Right now I can't be bothered. My whole car needs a good clean inside & out.
  7. Dysons are that good 'eh? I know the roller ones you mean. I just thought packing tape was kinda the same thing. What a cheapskate I am. btw what kind of a face is your Max! how can you say no to that!?So cute.
  8. does anyone have any secrets for removal fine short hair? It's driving me bananas. I've got bed sheets covering the back seat of the car, but still, I get Gus' hair (Vizsla) everywhere. They are so stubborn and fine and some weave into the seat! I often spend hours with packing tape or sticky tape running it over the seat to remove them. Takes hours (I need a life)! Vacuum is a joke, not strong enough. I tried a rubber glove (static) or wet sponge but that was useless too. Surely there's a better way?
  9. Since dogs tend to scoff their food - well Gus does anyway, I've stayed clear or peas & corn. They don't seem to digest at all - comes out whole - the corn can obstruct their intestinal tract. Especially if it's the cob - Absolute no.no. I cut up the stalks from broccoli, carrots, potatoes, whatever is available. A few minutes with a bit of water, in the microwave to soften them. And a Hi-Fibre Weetbix - as advised by my vet. All this with fresh meat & dry dog food- we love to spoil them don't we. :D
  10. ohmygawd! What an ordeal for you and poor busta. But she's on the road to recovery yes? they're so trusting aren't they - with those expressive eyes. Bad enough being desexed, let alone have an infection there too!? Lots of love & courage. Gus' mum
  11. I'm so sorry to hear of Kuda. Poor thing. My heart goes out to you & your loss. I've heard that snakes are out because of the freakish weather & we live right near a huge reserve where we like to walk to I'm a little wary - plus the council tends to put out fox baits which makes me even more paranoid. I'd hate to think he was deliberately poisoned. If so - then that's the pits - people can be cruel and worse than animals. We all have to be careful. lots of love to you.
