  1. i raise my pups on bonnie puppy until 6 mths and then change over to adult.the pup i got from a breeder that was using nutro puppy had the worst legs and he is growing fast-65 cm at shoulder(7 mths) we feed minced chicken carcasses, wings and frames,lg bones once a week.funny enough, the pup with bad legs started to straighten up 4 weeks after being on adult food instead.
  2. i lost my first bloodhound bitch to bloat-found her dead in the morning.it was 10 days before my last baby was born and it still haunts me now.i am paranoid about it and what i feed.i dont raise the bowls, some studies have shown that to be a contributing factor.i am looking into thrive d-has anybody else used it?
  3. it is largely diet related,i worked with thoroughbred yearlings on a big stud where the feed(high protein)was pumped into them from an early age.they had a lot of weanlings with it.same with dogs, they should be kept lean with puppies sometimes having to change onto a adult biscuit to slow growth.
  4. i have used everything on my dogs ears, the leo and vet cleaners they hated and their ears would be red.i just tried the diluted malaseb and it is fantastic.
  5. i had my hounds fenced in with a normal chicken wire fence, never got out.brought another girl and the 2 girls got out and spent the day chasing kangaroos in someones sheep paddock. heightened the fence to 7 ft,so then they dug out.electric fence was the best $200 i ever spent,2 hits of that and they dont go close to it.
  6. i totally agree,i took in an 8 yr bloodhound bitch-they didnt tell me until later that they had to feed her off the end of a broomhandle! she attacked my husband when he fed her because he was too slow to move away and then she had a very serious go at me when i decided to start making her sit etc before i would allow to eat-she was euthanised the same day.
  7. i had a very aggressive male bloodhound,he hated any small dogs(was not his fault).we tried focusing his attention elsewhere, rewards etc and absolutely nothing worked.this was a 50 kg dog that we aquired as an adult so he had firmly entrenched behaviour .he became extremely territorial and if there was an in season bitch he also became aggressive to the other dogs i had and towards me.put a 'HALTI" on him and he instantly became easier to handle and was more focused on the thing on his head than other dogs.cant recommend them enough and we will start all our pups in them from now on.
