My funny girl wondering what all the fuss was about
  2. What ring are you in? I have entered CCD for all 4! AM getting nervous now!
  3. Hey Belgianpup, it was you last night! I thought it was but every time I went to say hi and ask about dol we would start a new exercise! (Plus I'm a wuss!) How did you like it?
  4. Do CCD its pretty laid back, if I can do it so can you!
  5. Well done!!!!! First trials or comps are so scary!!!
  6. lol oh no Gambit! At least you can laugh about it...... cant you?
  7. Whose doing Southerns 50th quadruple trial next weekend? (5 & 6 July)
  8. Spending a lazy arvo on the laptop and came across these vids, I love it and not often you see the bully breeds doing this stuff!
  9. Hey guys Have had a query through the breed club on training/trialling dvds and just wanted to see where people had bought theirs from Have done a search on here and have found a few threads with the names of some dvd's on them but was after places to get them, and places that have been good to buy from Thanks heaps ETA I have also reccomended the VCA library to them too
  10. We could have told you she was gorgeous ages ago!
  11. I noticed a dobe pup last night, Dogslover was it you?!!!
  12. WTF, I hardly think a club that doesnt allow "no" and outcasts someone cos their dog wont eat a treat is showing a variety of techniques Sounds very very strange Jey, this isnt a go at you or your friend, it is directed at the way the club works (or what we've been told of how it works) Not giving a dog boundaries could be dangerous, and making people feel out of it isnt the best way to build handler confidence
  13. Keysborough isnt really SE but they also are great with raw feeding and have never suggested I feed dry
  14. You might also want to get a copy of the trialling rule book, so you know what signals are acceptable in the ring, no point making up a signal if you then have to change it later for trialling Does the trainer you use trial? eta some of these might help http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=hand+signals http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=hand+signals http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=hand+signals
  15. The OP specifically asked about Southern, thats why questions is being talked about And quoting myself to reiterate that the puppy classes are taught with food and positive reinforcement I think the best idea is to go to the clubs you think you ight be interested in, so then you can get an idea for yourself, though it is good to hear good and bad about clubs from others. Not sure about moorabbin but southern is also on wed nights so if you run out of weekend you could always go down then (though puppy classes arent on wed only sunday) Also agree with whoever said about getting private classes too, but once again you will still probably want to see a few people and how they work to decide whats best for you and your pup. And that way you can use clicker too. Clicker can be difficult in a class situation, as it sounds the same, so if there are a few people using it, and the dog is relatively new to it, it could be confusing
  16. In good weather we train outside but in cold or wet we train in the pavillion
  17. Wed nights at KCC Yep all breeds accepted, and the top class is mainly aimed at trialling, and sometimes gets split between those who are trialling and those who arent Even so all excercises are done with trialling in mind
  18. Erny who is on here is in Melb and she is fantastic too, be good to get her opinion early on, she ran the seminar with Steve This is her website http://www.prok9.com.au/
  19. Which state are you in? Steve from K9 gave us some great advice re puppies and socialisation at the seminar a few weeks ago
  20. Agreed Rotty club is awesome too! It's done wonders for my boy's confidence going there I was trying to figure out why I didnt mention rotty club, but realised it was cos its not close enough for the OP
