when I had Cardigan Corgis, was asked about my mini Gsds!!!
Also rather tongue in cheek, was told many years ago that my Cardigans (corgi) could never do open obedience....
why...????
because they are not....
jumpers......

Today I noticed one of my dogs having a bit of a chew on some alyssum greenery...is there anything I need to be concerned about????
Or even any medicinal bonus to eating it...

I also remember!! he looks terrific now :) Thank you for the update !!
+1. It's great to hear the follow up stories. Great that it was just one of those things and he's looking good and healthy.
same here too :)
so glad for you

another one here for "dogs instead" no kids :)
I, also, from quite a young age did not want to have children, don't get me wrong I think they are amazing and a miracle but not for this little black duck!!!

I, too, have only just seen this post
Sending loads of healing hugs and love to you all

I am never very good at the "linkie thingies" to here on Dogzonline from youtube, but Adelaide Sportdog facebook page has just put up a whole heap of video from the tracking and individual tests....

a lady friend of mine rushed her male dog to the vet with sudden swelling on either side of his penis....only to be gently informed that her male dog was having "pleasant thoughts"
another friend was helping a first time stud dog...and owner's...when the stud dog had lost interest in the bitch, my friend said to the male owner to "take the dog out & stimulate him", male owner grabbed a tennis ball!!!!! She had to quietly say "Not THAT type of stimulation!!!"

a friend found her JRT loved frozen peas!!

It's a scary amazing thing - someone with dancing talent and training, who can also train a dog
I'm a crappy dancer, not good at keeping time, I'm not sure doing that with a dog would make either of us look clever - tho I love training some of the tricks.
this is one of the first routines that I watched while deciding to get involved with dancing with dogs...it showed what can be achieved with good music choice for the breed/individual dog :D
I am working on getting our high steps that high!!!

As some of you may know my beautiful Kiska has advanced bladder cancer, and I believe the time has now come to say goodbye, no matter how much I don't want to lose her. She will be 14 in August and sleeps a lot more now anyway, but she has now become lethargic and sad. She rarely wants to play with my other dog maggie and her urine output has slowed down. She is still eating ok, but its the sadness and tiredness I can't bear to watch and it will only get worse now.
The problem I have is with my husband, as he says she is fine for a while longer and that she looks alert etc. It's true, sometimes she does look alert, but it's getting fewer times now. I need for him to see it for himself and to not cause Kiska any more grief. She has been a beautiful girl and I don't want to watch her go any further downhill. What would you do?He just won't see it and I don't know how to make him see it. I could and will make him go to the vet with me and get the vet to talk to him, but I would prefer to use that as a last resort.....he has to let go too. for her and his sake, no matter how much it hurts
gentle hugs to you Darien
My parents are doing the same too
Their Cardigan Corgi is almost 15 yrs old and sleeps most of the day/night & when she is awake, walks around in a confused state...both Mum & Dad can't or rather won't see Megan for how she is and being their last dog, both parents are now into their 70's, are finding hard to approach the idea of the final goodbye.
Sadly a bit like your husband, it will take something to happen & the vet to talk to them, rather than them make the final choice themselves...

Thank you everyone!
biker girl, he'll now be (pending confirmation) CH Llandwyn Crescent Moon (AI) RA HTMS FSS - he's from Dorothy Hartcher's last litter, out of multiple generations of her breeding in his dam's side, and his sire was a NZ Rodwell dog, out of Jan West's Oliver (since I can see the resemblance to Oliver in this picture, and you might have encountered one of his Llandaff rellies)
WELL DONE!!!!! May I also ask who bred your Cardi????
My very first 2 Cardis were from Kardibroke in Vic & we are talking 40 years ago!!!
Moving to Sa our Cardis were from Nan Green of Cambrian Kennels & my first Cardi from her, Nike, went to become the first Cardi in Australia to obtain AD for the breed, again we re talking 25 years ago!!!
I know Jan West has had a lot of success with her Cardis in the agility ring & it's lovely to see the Cardis doing well in other dog sports, such as DWDs too CC :D :D :D
Many years ago I was told that I could never do open obedience with my Cardis as they are "Cardigans" and not "jumpers"!!!......insert groan here if you wish...

Thanks Tassie, we have 55 entries across the two comps, so it is going to be a very long day! But we're excited to be welcoming so many competitors from NSW and Victoria.

ok DWD peeps :D
I am pondering my next routine for intermediate freestyle and tossing up between two quite different types of music for my sheppie boy, Jim...
Singin' in the Rain (Gene Kelly)
or
I want to break free (Queen)
both classics, just from different eras :D
-
just home from tonight's DWD at Gawler....very proud of both sheppies with Tasha passing with a very nice 159.7 and Jim once again my star with not only a very nice 161.1 but also scoring highest freestyle!!!
I am hoping video will come latter
YAY congrats What level are they up to now?? Looking forward to watching the video
Are you coming up to QLD for the national this year?
it is their first legs of novice FSS and no, sadly we won't be coming up to Qld for the nationals...would love to :)

great to hear

I am interested to hear how people satisfy their dog's natural prey-related instincts.
On a personal level, my dog Del has strong hunting instincts. I try to give them an outlet (short of actually letting here hunt obviously) through playing with tug toys, soft toys, chasing etc, and she does enjoy this but I feel like it is satisfying her desire to play rather than her strong desire to track and take down a quarry. So I would be more than happy to hear others' thoughts on this if there are any, as ell as what you do with your own dogs :)
lure coursing as a suggestion........

Kato will always be a pup!
Congratulations to the most talented trio I know, and to their "boss". The result does not surprise anyone who knows this team!
Di
aww thanks Di
Now c'mon BC4ME it's your turn!
OK my boy Styler came a close 2nd to Schatzi in HTM Intermediate and he also placed 2nd in Freestyle Novice with our new routine.
I was just a little please is an understatement a great way to start the year.

Yup. All defensive and ALL CAPS. Yuk.
slighty OT though along the same vein........I was on a motorbike FB page....note, was......which promoted it's self to be family friendly, learner friendly & just all round friendly page :D
Until the admin showed video footage of her being taught to ride a motorbike 1/ with no helmet.....2/ no shoes & 3/ riding out on a very public road!!!!
There were a few of us who gently asked her "why not go to the local training provider & learn correctly & safely?"
Well...similar to you Scottsmum...we were all told "it's MY body & I will DO things MY way & will NOT have anyone tell ME what to do!!!!!!"
Our comments were all removed & I removed myself from the page when the same women started threatening another woman for comments about her grankid....talk about finding her home & taking people around to "sort her out!!!!!!!!"
WTF

OK at Toowoomba DWD competition on Saturday: Kato made his debut and came 1st in Starters HTM, Tora came 2nd with an NQ. She got a Qualifying 3rd place in Starters Freestyle. My grand old dame Schatzi at 11 years young took out 1st in HTM Intermediate.
WELL DONE

we also have a little crossbreed, Scout, we are pretty sure that she is a English Pointer/Kelpie as we got her from the AWL 13 yrs ago when she was about 8weeks of age.
When people ask "what is she" our standard answer is "a Mexican Chicken Herder"!!!
Same reaction to you to Pers, people mostly say "Ohh...I was wondering what they looked like"!!!!! ;-) ;-)
