  1. I just cannot comprehend keeping dogs like that. When I think of what my dogs have done this weekend: been to a market; out to Japanese for lunch: out to a country pub for lunch; visited a friend's house where they got endless massages; went up to a horse riding event as a fundraiser; got to play with fire fighters and the water from the hoses; cuddled on the couch and on the bed, I morn for the life that those dogs deserve, but will never get.

That sort of treatment is more than criminal, it is immoral and abhorrent. :mad:cry:

all for the sake of a ribbon

  2. many years ago, and I mean, many years ago, my Mum would pull out her red decor basket full of tea/coffee etc for a day of dog showing etc. That basket would be placed on the kitchen table to be filled with goodies and of course right in view of our dogs.

The red basket was the trigger :D

Cue a couple of years latter, same dogs, different hobby for my brother, go-cart racing and guess what came out Sat/Sun mornings???

The red basket and 3 very confused cardigan corgis

  3. as we had previously been on a very large block (2acres) & no neighbours, then moving into a smallish block (1000sqm) we weren't sure how our dogs were going to be with having immediate neighbours...............

so before we actually moved in, I door knocked our two close neighbours & introduced myself & hubby & explained what was about to happen with 4 dogs moving in!! We also mentioned too, that IF the dogs were making too much noise, that please come & speak to us directly & immediatley.

so far no problems, we speak reasonably regularly with our neighbours & their feedback is "yes the dogs do bark from time to time" though nothing too much smile.gif

in fact a couple of other people in our cul de sac can't believe that 3 Gsds & a pointerX live here as there is hardly any noise!!!! Well compared to a couple of other dogs who bark a lot....biggrin.gif

  4. Believe a certain newcomer to the sport as a brag to post after the trial today - two awesome routines . Well done.

oh gee shucks Ness.......... thank you biggrin.gif

I am feeling pretty pleased with both Jim & Tasha atm thumbsup1.gif

    AND

Jim winning the same class, with 159/180!!!!!!

  5. Happy to help you do a music cut Sheena if you need a hand. Just let me know, flick me a message on Facebook or something and we can sort it out :)

Doing some DWD training with my girls today, it seems that seeing as I wear a hat pretty much whenever we dance, Tora has decided hats = DWD. I put one on just to see how it worked for a costume the other day and felt something on my leg, it was her pawing at me then doing spins and backwards walking!

I love hats too. I think it just finishes of a costume  and they also stop my hair from falling in my face

    What about wigs :)

I've done wigs too, I love a good dress up

I think I have done just about everything there is to do with a costume. I've done capes, wigs, hats, skirts, canes, tiara's, wands, etc and don't get me started on props. I have a love affair with them too.

I love your Game of Thrones costume!

if you don't mind me asking BC4ME.....could you post a pic of you GOTs costume?????

I am doing something similar & found a dress for a dollar in Vinnies thumbsup1.gif & I am curious to see whether it has the same look/feel to have that GOTs feel about it biggrin.gif

  6. I was so worried about our four dogs & how they would settle into suburban life after several years of living on acreage in Tassie, that I spoke to each of our neighbours before we moved in & informed them of us having four dogs & that "if" there was any issue, to please come & speak to us directly!

One of the neighbours have two beagles & they are making more noise than our four combined!!!!!!!!

To the point that even after 6 months of living here, they are still throwing themselves against the fence & baying when I go & do a poo pickup near the fence confused.gif

Luckily for us, our four are not responding back to them & as annoying as they are, I think the more noise they actually make, the better our dogs look or rather (not) sound!!! laugh.giflaugh.gif

  7. we have had 2 seperate occasions which resulted in the same dog "visiting" the vet................

the first time was just after we lost our 8yr old Gsd male, we were both at work when we received a frantic phone call from our neighbour who had heard screaming from the backyard eek1.gif Dell went to investigate & found Scout, our pointer/kelpie had been beaten up by our two other Gsd girls (mother/daughter) Scout was rushed to the vet's & stitched up.......luckliy it was mostly superficial wounds.

We don't know what triggered the fight, though Scout does not back down when things happen & unfortunatley for her, she only weights 18kgs compared to the combined weight of two Gsds frown.gif

The dogs were seperated after that, with Scout staying inside while we were both at work & at night............

The other time, & much more serious, was when, just after feeding the 3 of them, we both turned our backs for a moment of two to wash up after feeding the dogs chick carcesses, when we heard an odd noise from the backyard..............Scout had been choking on what was left of a carcess & both Tasha & Seven had gone in for the kill icon_smile_mad.gif

Seven had Scout around the head & Tasha had hit her on the breastbone, Mike picked up Scout & felt her over & noticed she was bleeding from that area and also could feel some bone damage................we rushed her to the vet, where intially they though the wound was minor.........x-rays later & Scout had an open wound about the size of an adult fist which went through to the lung!!! As well as the broken breastbone. The vet didn't even know if Scout would make it through the operation, she did though again they couldn't say whether she would even make it through the night..............again she did..................

Long story short, Scout made a full recovery, much to the amazement of the vet...........though $4000 later embarrass.gif

That little dog has cost us more in vet bills than the 3 Gsds combined eek1.gif

  8. Ranger finally called me back from my concerns two days ago and said she rang the woman this morning about not getting a padlock for the gate and the woman said her daughters boyfriend was supposedly fixing the gate this weekend. When I questioned the ranger about the fact that this will be 7 days tomorrow since we were attacked and it's still not fixed she said it's not up to council to continually drive past (and they don't have the time) and see if they have fixed anything they can only advise her and then it's up to her. I told her the old lady with the Lab said they are always out and she said nothing can be done unless the actual people that see the dogs out call, which I knew anyway. She said the Dangerous Dog Dec will take up to a month to be processed and said when the judge looks at it he will say it was too harsh, there have been no previous complaints about the dogs and after all it's not a child :(

so the authorities will not act UNTIL a child is bitten or worse..............icon_smile_mad.gif
