There is one at the club I occasionally train at. He's the most gorgeous and friendly dog, but way down the drive scale. English Toy Terrier?

Good on you GSDs Great to see that you're getting it out this side of Melbourne. What's the deal if you only want to audit? I might be interested, depends on cost and it not clashing with good agility trials :D
-
Could've been the same one JJ - it was only one beach around from Killarney itself. How cool, pity we didn't get to see it a bit "fresher"
-
There is bait signs up - I checked when they first put the info in the standard and the baits are laid from the mouth of the swamp (something Cutting?) through to Levy's Beach. Which is why I go to where I go to and walk back towards Killarney. Where does it say there is no dogs off lead The signs there say under effective control, and they ask you to leash your dog near the "fences" for the birds but that's all I've seen. I'm down there 2 to 3 times a week at the moment and while it's always quiet (which is why I go there) you rarely see dogs on lead. Never seen a ranger, only the occasional Parks Vic person. So where are you allowed to have dogs off lead on the beach? Other than Logan's. :D Great pics - I know you work there but how did you go taking the dogs inside? I had Zee as a baby puppy in my arms as I had to duck in quickly to grab something and I got booted out. Told whoever it was it was too warm to leave a baby puppy in the car and they didn't care. :D

Hope your back is feeling better soon tlc ;) Mum has the same problem and I know how much trouble it gives her when it decides to go. ;) Good on you all for doing the session at Bunnings If it encourages a few more people to give their dogs some training it's a great thing :D Darcy and Zee are totally flaked - they have had a big walk, walked from Gorman's Lane to Killarney beach and back with their mate Ivy - combined with a heap of ball retrieving and a heap of playing they did probably triple what we walked, so I'm not surprised they are bombed. Combined with two weave training sessions for Zee (who's up to weaving 6 poles ;) ) they are so stuffed Zee is snoring :D One section of the beach there was a heap of dead fish - all the same type and size, some kind of cod by the look, and what I think may have been a sunfish carcase. Hard to tell but I can't think what else it would've been.

Dog Balance Ball- Where To Get?
J... replied to Cosmolo's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You can get the small and large discs from Hart Sports, but haven't seen one of the half gym balls at a reasonable price. You can get the bosu version which has a flat platform but they are nearly $200. -
I've been told Friar's Balsam does a good job but haven't needed to use it myself. Be warned it stains, so put it on outside and make sure it's dry - the person who told me about it had lovely yellow marks on their tiles :D

I'm envious that it's flat!! Nice backyard My backyard is slopey and uneven, but it is good given it's fully fenced (the people I bought it off had a GSD) so I've never had to do anything to it. I keep looking at places on an acre or two so I could have an agility set-up but I think I'll need to pay a little more off this one first.

I could come in Tuesday (payday) tlc but today is out By the way does anyone know of anywhere that refills gas bottles ???? its not a swapngo job and i havent filled it for a couple of years, i think from memory BBQ's Galore does ??? Caltex in Camperdown does IF there is someone on who knows how to fill them. Won't be in today, might come in tomorrow to give them a fitness session at the beach. Enjoy your walk

Both of mine suffer from the salt water squirts after a big beach session - as long as they have fresh water to drink to replenish themselves there shouldn't be an issue. I tend to pull the pin once they've had one though - to me it's generally a good sign they've been at the beach long enough.
-
Nothing exciting here - already been out and taken the dogs to the beach for a swim and a run. Do some inside stuff that I need to do, sit down with a stack of DVDs and have a movie marathon under the A/C. Going to be too hot to do much more :D

That's ok Not sure - If I'm not agility training then I probably will.

Yes me, but apparently I'm still in the bad books for whatever reason

well said Jed. I see a lot of farms in my work and some of the "workers" have some pretty interesting breeding :p Our most useful working dog was our family pet who was bought from a pet shop *shock horror* back in the late 1980s. Cardigan Corgi cross thought to have some chihuahua in her. She would push, speak on command, cast and heeled just as well as the cattle dog. She had her limitations, but she was incredibly handy as it meant you didn't need to go home and grab a dog if you needed one in a hurry. That said, not having anything to do with herding, who is allowing these people to persist with a dog who is doing nothing but stir up the stock?

Does look like someone's roast has gone missing Darcy and Zee have had a great day First up it was an entire rabbit each for brekky. Then some unwrapping of presents, some news toys and a quick play with new toys (not too much on a full belly). Quick morning nap before a trip to the beach for a few hours. Copped a bath (d'oh!) just because they needed it and the doggy wash was open. :D Finished the arvo off with a dixie cup each for the trip home. Macca's wasn't open for a 50c cone so a dixie cup had to do. Both are now bombed out on their beds before a trip to Mum and Dad's so I can do Christmas dinner. ;)

Merry Christmas everyone...

Nawwwww puppy!!!!!! He must be close to coming home with you? We have just had the loudest crack of thunder I've heard in very a long time. Sasha took off like a bullet and hasn't been seen since. Zee is looking at me expectantly because she wants a walk and Darcy is sound asleep. :p FWIW I sign in as anonymous because online security concerns me and that's what I chose to do. I have nothing to hide from it. Guests can be any Tom, Dick or Harry who choses to view this thread and I have seen up to a dozen guests reading this thread. They could be anyone.

Retrieving Ability Tests For Gundogs
J... replied to twoblackdogs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Does anyone know if they would accept a Lab x who obviously has Lab in her? -
It is giving some good light and cloud shows though ;) Another "I wish I had a camera" moment coming back through Colac. They're burning off in the Otways and the smoke had formed into an inversion layer under the cloud. So you could see the dark grey smoke trapped under the different grey black cloud of the storm. Would've made a great photo! The cloud show behind me on the Westgate over Gippy way was pretty cool - you could see they were going to cop it too.

Hope you're not flooded out tez Got home from Melbourne to find definite signs of it having been very wet very quick - then it started again and found I had my own private creek running through the carport and across the lawn. Glad I'm up the hill. Talk is from weather forecasters that it's going to rain on and off all the way to Xmas ;)

I've posted these before for Loungefly but I'll post them again for comparison This is Darcy, just turned 5 yo yesterday. From a mismate with a Lab bitch and a WKC kelpie dog who scaled a chicken wire fence while visiting with contractors. She has her CDX ADM JDM JDO GDX obedience and agility titles and I think she got her JDM3 this past weekend. Hard at "work" In the backyard She's been such an easy dog to train, loves to work but has a great off switch as well.

Happy Birthday kitty! I've been elastoplasting it - Tues PM I made her a tape boot to try and protect it while I took them for a run but it still opened up again. This morning I taped it up well and then taped a sock over the lot but it was well and truly gone by the time I checked her at lunch time. I suspect it lasted about 5 mins beyond what this morning's brekky shank did. All I can do is keep her quiet and keep the salt water up to it. The BC side of her is scary - I've never seen a dog so dextrous as she is, it's not something I've seen in the kelpies. God forbid they ever end up with opposable thumbs because you'd never keep them out of anything :D

Thanks Tez - have googled her contact details and will make an appointment. Poor Zee has a sore foot too now - unpacked the car Monday night after being at Portland trial all weekend (rained on again!) and found her limping on the gravel. Turns out she has a cracked paw pad which is proving challenging to manage given she's so active and won't leave a bandage on for about 5 mins. But it does look better tonight, she's not happy about the lack of a run but that's the trade off for not leaving her bandage on! Darcy turns the big 5 today - Happy Birthday Miss Darcy! ;) Not sure I could manage anything before Xmas - definitely after the New Year though. Wondering why I'm so stuffed and I've just worked out I haven't had a weekend off from trialling/being away since early September. :D Will be glad to finish up this weekend and have a few weekends to get my Xmas shopping done. And I wonder why I always leave it til the last minute!!

tlc I wish I had even a 1/4 of your dedication for carrying a camera and using it I can't believe how much Gus has grown up We went to Portland for their two day trial - great little trial, really laid back and friendly. Always one of my favourites but they exceeded themselves with a sensational wood cooked spit roast with great vegies and a full range of desserts for dinner last night Got quite wet yesterday and sunburnt today. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see so much rain but I wish it would leave my weekends alone Darcy was totally feral yesterday but we redeemed ourselves with two passes today - last run of the day was a ripper and great fun Change of topic - does anyone have a good recommendation for a podiatrist either in W'bool, Ballarat or Geelong? I think it's probably time I bit the bullet and got my feet sorted out instead of putting it off
