  1. 2 weeks doesn't seam like a lot but it REALLY does make all the difference in the world. I know how hard it would be but would it at all be possible to get your deposit back and go to a regestered breeder? I have been in your situation and I whish I knew then what I do now, would have saved a lot of heart ache... Good luck with anything you decide, and stick a round DOL the people will offer you any help anytime you ask for
  2. my oh my............ My condolences to all
  3. I click each page and quiver, as I know what could be on the next...... I can not think of anything appropirate (sp) to say, except, God bless little angel.... *Goes of to cry in the bathroom*
  4. I once was against crating I was nieve and be the first to admit it, Now I wouldnt have it any other way. My dog loves his crate and as long as he can see us, and hear us, he is quite happy to stay in there. Now he is a little older (10 months) we just say bed and thats it, off he troots to his crate..... Like you said he isnt barking just for the sake of barking, so he isn't really doing anything wrong...If he can't see the lights coming on outside then he isn't going to want to bark.. good luck ;)
  5. Do you know anything yet? How is he.....
  6. Oh no I hope he is ok..... As far as kaos goes i'm not sure maybe if he has to stay at the vets who ever takes him askes for something for her, and can go straight home and give it to her. Not going to help untill she can have it but will be better in the long run if he needs to be admitted. keep us updated  Try not to worry to much, he will be ok......
  7. Sure, you know the computer mouse, the older ones with the ball underneath? Well the next door neighbours threw it over the fence and he ate it :D was 3.5cm in diameter and he is only 9 months old sorry terrorbull ;)
  8. Thanks cavNrott, he is home now and feeling very sorry for himself :D I have a pic but I dont want to deminish the importance of this thread ;) They had to do quite a large incission so poor bugger is cut from sternham to bellow his testicles (or where they would be)
  9. Just reading your posts and it does sound VERY similar to how Dakota was last week, (9 month old SBT)....Unfortunatly he did havean obstruction in his intestines and had surgery on wednesday just gone :D I hope its not but its almost exactly how he was and he is such a happy little soul normally.....
  10. bloody Hell, what a week you have had You must be a special lady, blessed with knowing and loving these beautiful animals
  11. Hi, well I have spoken to the vets and they are saying that he will have to stay untill monday at the earliest He is doing well considering but he is still not interested in food what so ever so he has to stay untill he can eat with out vomiting and then to make sure his bowel and the likes is ok..... They are still saying that they dont want us to see him yet, but they will consider it for tomorrow afternoon, depending on how he is I will let you know how he goes, BUT I miss him terriably....
  12. Vets seem to be so different in their approach to things. My vet encouraged me to come and see Dana as often as possible. I visited her three times a day whilst she was in hospital. They asked me to cook food for her and sit with her to encourage her to eat. She would eat nothing for them and she's a little guts of a dog. She would eat when I fed her the soup with chopped up chicken. Dana went into shock after the surgery and was very sick indeed. She had to have a fair amount of her bowel removed. The vets thought that when I was there she brightened up somewhat. Maybe your boy has to be kept very quiet. He was only done today so he would be fairly much out to it and on a drip. Sending him positive healing vibes and please keep us posted on his progress. I think it is because he is such a happly little soul and tends to bend at his waist A LOT when he wags his tail, that they don't want him to do it to forcefully The senior vet who admitted him to hospital is absloutly stunned by him and even told me to congratulate his breeder for him. He is just being a good boy sitting in the crate (good job he was used to it) watching the staff work :p When they leave tonight (the vet lives next door) they are going to give him a shot of pain killers so he should just sleep right through.
  13. I'm glad your girl had a quick recovery, and I'm praying the same happens for dakota I'm not allowed to see him untill friday at the earliest, which I understand but it will be bloody hard....
  14. Thanks Guys, I just feel like utter S*** that I missed it....I'm suposed to protect my dog not let him eat something like that I have rang up for legal advise in regards to the next door neighbours BUT as you said poodlefan I didn't see them do it therefor cant prove it, so I have no chance of recovering any vetinary costs....At least he is ok and I have to thank dog for that :p When MY OH gets back I'll get him to put a pic up....
  15. Well yes they did and I am trying to see what I can do about it legally.... What caused the blockage was a 3.5cm ball that goes in a computer mouse, the rubber coated metal ones Going back a few weeks maybe 4, we had a clean out of our house in which I threw a hole heap of stuff away in a hired mini skip. Our next door neighbours went through our stuff and has thrown back over our fence the balls from the old computer mice... I thaught I had gotten them all, as I check my yard everyday because of this reason, have spoken to them before about throwing stuff over but have missed that one :p My vet said another 24 hours and he could have died, now I just have to wave my magic wand to pay for it :p
  16. thanks wolfgirl... Dakota did have guite a large blockage in his intestines which did need to be operated on He will be in hospital untill at least friday afternoon, but he is doing ok, he came out of surgery at around 2pm... so $1500 later he is going to be ok :p One good thing is they neutered him while he was under, so only 1 general was needed.
  17. Last night Dakota started vomiting, large amounts of white gooesy stuff We called the vet but he said he could just have a stomach ache, this was the after hours vet.... My OH stayed up with him all night and he only vomited a couple of times, this morning he was really lathargic, and vomiting again so I rushed him to my vet. He is dehydrated and the vet strongly thinks of 2 possible things, 1...He has been baited or 2....he has a blockage in his intestines I cant see it being a blockage BUT i can't be 100 % I feel useless and I am very worried, I will know more tonight :p please keep your fingers crossed, and because it is school holidays I have 2 childeren here at home sobbing becasue there dog is in hospital.......
  18. try another vet.... I had my cavalier girl spayed and about 6 months later she to swelled up and had a discharge, I took her to another vet who did an untrasound and fould that the first vet didn't do the procedure properly if at all, and yes she did have the sutures in her tummy.
  19. If the vet has checked the pup and is saying everything is ok, you may just have a fussy cavalier, I do My cavalier is 13 months old and sometimes she looks terriably thin. Your friend will just have to feed little often there stomachs are small so fill and empty quickly, I feed my cav 4 times a day, I have to otherwise she looks terrible and oh so thin. I have done lots of trial and error and once I found a food she liked I have NOT changed her at all, and now she is finally starting to put on a bit of weight. I got her interested in food by putting a little Nutrigel on top of her food which also helped when she wasnt eating and now I have no probs. Good luck and if you like PM me ....
  20. I use the no-vac pet neutraliser (sp) and my cavalier doesn't have any problems and she does have quite sensitive skin. You can buy the smaller one for the car for $2 from the reject shop, and because my dogs come with me everywhere I need to use it.....
  21. cavNrott ~I agree with you whole heartedly believe me :D persephone ~ I think that is what he has an absess InDogWeTrust ~ Unfortunatly I think I will have to again step in and take over this situation, the problem here is a very long and horrible situation which I don't think is very wise to openly discuss here. To everyone else thank you for your sugestions ~ I will take a couple of pictures soon and add them so you can see what I am talking about.
  22. I had second taughts about putting it on DOL but then I thaught well, who else would know better then people on DOL :D The only thing that is wrong is they wont take him to the vet But at least if I look after it, it may not need it anyway
