Not sure where your getting your figures but approximately Nutro, Eagle Pack, Royal Canin start from around $77, Eukanuba $74 for 15kg bags. Some of the super premium range goes slightly over $90 but most Adult Maintenance are between $70 - $80. Prices are actually worse in my local area as we're regional South Coast, NSW. I mention the price range as these brands are often mentioned, but are unaffordable for some people. If you are keen to give your dog the best diet possible, opt for one of the super premium types suggested. Being a working dog, he needs good quality food to keep his energy levels up. So a chiko roll might not be the best meal to work all day, although I'm sure plenty of people do just that, but by the same token, a human doesn't need to eat $100 fancy meal to do a days work. Do dog's need venison and green-lipped mussel? Only if they have a food allergy, perhaps. We have real working (cattle) dogs and they eat way cheaper than that, and do quite well, thanks. 15kg lasts about two and a half days here, so they aren't likely to get food at $75 a bag Cheaper food as a base with extras can work very well... Fair enough, but if for whatever reason you cannot or do not want to do add-ins or extras, you can give your dog the benefit of the most complete and whole food you can get for them...
