Keeshond Coat

Hi there :p

I am having trouble with Keesha's coat at the moment. No matter how much I brush and use the dog dryer her coat the undercoat (especially her ruff and her pants) are sticking together like velcro. It is similar to when she had her puppy coat. I use Aloveen shampoo (because of her skin) and I use a bit of Aloveen conditioner and Laser Lites protien as a leave on conditioner. What would you recommend that I use for her coat? She looks terrible 5 minutes after I have groomed her :)

Thanks in advance

Weimlover, get yourself a good rake. Some undercoats will go very gunky at this time of year, and you will need to strip it out. Some lines will just blow it, but some lines tend to hang on to it like glue.

I find the rake so valuable in getting it out. I also use a fine tooth comb on the sides of my Kees all year round, to help keep it to a minimum. Only place I wont use the comb is on the mane behind the neck because that will strip too much out for the ring. But if you dont mind a flat mane, you can strip that too.

Edited coz I typed too fast!

this is exactly the problem I heard from other kees owner in my area which is why there are groomers suggesting to me they have 3 layers of coat as I posed in this thread also : http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry2183711

have you try furminator or similar kind of stuff? I tried 1 on my sammy before it really remove a lot of undercoat with minimal effort but u dun want to force in to have the outer coat remove as well.

Gosh its so old I am not sure what brand it is. Let me have a look online and see if I can see one similar.....

OK I would go something like this http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....p;productId=373 but I think mine is more like this one http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....p;productId=378

Both should work well.
