just brought home a american X aussie bulldog puppy he is 10weeks old and growls when you pick him up or do anything he doesnt want you to do, he also growls and snaps at the other dogs, this seems pretty bad to me, ive also got 2 small kids aged 2 and 7months and do not want to take any chances so im just wondering what i do to get him out of it? how do i disapline him when he growls? im really worried about him biting one of the kids, if i cant get him to stop then he is going to have to go, he seems like a really nice pup other than that. any help would be very appreciated.

I would be ringing the breeder and asking for advice. I am sure they can help you in some way. See if the dog was doing it with them, and what they did to handle the problem (if it did do it before).

Have you had him checked over by a vet? he could be in pain for some reason.

thank you all, i will look at the sites, i am a pretty experianced dog owner and have done dog obediance with my other dogs, i kno the american bulldog is a very dominant breed i did my home work way b4 i got him, mum was there she is the aussie bulldog and was a lovely girl, sweet natured easy going, dad wasnt there, it was a planned mating, both dogs are apparently well bred, mum looked very healthy. i know it is not normal puppy behavour, planning on going to vets tomoz going to try puppy classes see if i can socialise it out of him.

a Cross cross breed.

Why did they cross the two dogs?

We have an Aussie and i have seen a few Americans, is it common to breed larger dogs to smaller dogs?

i posted pics of him in the puppy pics post, honestly i think they just thought hmmm they will make nice puppies lets do it! all the pups were american bulldog looking personally i recon you wouldnt be able to tell their mum is aussie, he is a really nice pup apart from the growling he hasnt growled at the kids was playing with them this morning (under my very close and watchful eyes) he was fine, i think it may be a dominate thing.

hi, this is my first time on here so I hope i am doing this right.

in regard to aggressive puppies, i have a 5 month old pure bred bull terrier who has become really aggressive around food. if we go near him when he is eating he growls and makes this awful shrieking noise! we also have two other dogs, who he tries to attack if they go near him when he is eating. any advice as to how we can get this behaviour to stop as he almost tried to bite me this morning when I found him raiding the treat box and tried to get him out of it! he is extremely dominant, which im sure has something to do with it.

please if anyone can help as apart from that he is a lovely dog, who generally loves people except when there is food around!??
