mooki Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 Hi all I'm in Perth and am thinking about going to Northern Suburbs Dog Obedience. My puppy is only 9 weeks old though and isn't due for his second vaccination until he's 12 weeks old. Is it okay to take him to puppy preschool now? Or should I wait? Rusky Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 Northern suburbs hold puppy class from 8 weeks so you will be fine, he will be kept safe. Call them. You can go anywhere with him in your arms. It's a tough one, the socialisation V vaccination. Socialisation is so important, you need to find ways for him to meet some canine friends and take him to as many people/children places you can. GSDhandler Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 most PPS are designed to be sterile so you can get your pup in at 8 wks. but some can be competitive. i wanted to get mine in at 8 wks, ands he has to wait till 11 because htey were just booked out. now my baby has to wait. cwm Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 I would check what the Parvo situation is in your area too - when we first got our girl, there was a lot of stuff in the news about new outbreaks of parvo through Sydney/Wollongong, so we were not willing to take the risk. This was earlier this year. I lost two puppies from parvo many many years ago when it first was around, it is heartbreaking. I will never take that risk again.
