Now I would like to take photos where I can really zoom in on a subject /object either in or outdoors. Any suggestions? Have done a search on here and am still confused as to what distance each lense will go to. Is there a book for camera dummies in plain english? I see cannon have a 70-300mm Im not sure what this lens is like but it is $900.00 ish and would slot in to your existing set up nicely. they also have a 18-200, this would cover a wide focal range and mean less changing. I will pull my head in now and let the canon people come and give you their real world experience :rolleyes: when I look at the lenses available for cannon i have brand envy look at them all!!! http://www.d-d-photographics.com/canonlenses.htm and they are white and comparably inexpensive.... Correct i have used a 70-300 f4.5-6 IS USM lens (cost me around $1000) i have used this for both agility and portrait shots works pretty well as long as the lighting is good. This lens isnt real good in dull light. I have just bought (my xmas pressie to me) the canon 70-200mm f2.8L USM lens this is serious bit of glass that isnt only quick but very sharp. It has cost me a bit tho as the L series lens's are not cheap. Unfortunately the IS version was another $1000. With the current lense if the dogs are at the other end of the yard I zoom in but when I download and edit I ahve to crop alot to get the close up I want, but I want more cos Im greedy. I sometimes have to get up close to get a nice picture. THanks for the web links I shall have a look. Tailwag Posted December 16, 2008 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Ok for the weave shot as it was take at the Nats i was probably about 10 metres away for the diving shot again 10+ metres away Bees roughly 2 metres Landscap hard to judge the distance as i was standing on my verandah Links head shot again maybe 10 metres Sweeps portrait roughly 3 metres.
