Member online access - Until Stage Two of the database development is complete (Dec 2009), the member login and club login sections are not functioning. If you are able to log into the members only area your membership may show as being unfinancial when in fact it is financial. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to members during the database redevelopment.

The Dogs Victoria website, like its predecessor (VCA website) had its construction undertaken by outside contractors to build the site. This new site was not built by the same people that constructed the original (VCA site) and the VCA staff they had in the VCA office to supervise the build of the original site are no longer employed with the VCA/Dogs Victoria, they left when the office moved to Cranbourne in 2002. The original site was tested for a couple of months before going live, not rushed into service before being ready. The original website had the ability for transactions to occur but this could not occur due to the financial package that was used in the VCA office; they could not "talk" with each other and money was required to be spent to remedy the problem. It was decided to wait for the second stage of the ANKC Computer system development to occur to remedy this problem.

I am also led to believe the ANKC database redevelopment is not being undertaken by the same contractors as the initial database.

The old VCA website was meant to be the stepping stone until the DV website (as it is now known) came on line, unfortunately the new website which was meant to come online when the ANKC computer system was upgraded was to have all these items available online from day one of going live. It has been long overdue, the old VCA website was only meant to be in service for a couple of years. In fact, on line access was due to occur in 2002/03 including the ability to undertake all disciplines event entries including registration and financial transactions online.

Over the years the VCA attempted to have certain items added to the ANKC Computer System only to be told if you wanted them they you had to pay for them, but the other states can use them. The VCA undertook some items but the larger (price) ticketed items went into the later day basket.

At the time it showed the ANKC had to be united as one, with all states becoming the ANKC not as individual state governing bodies, unfortunately the states could not agree and to some degree this is why the website (Dogs Victoria owned) and the ANKC Computer System are not working unitedly today. Had it been one organisation, it would have benefitted all ANKC members, nation wide. This is why each state still has an individual state magazine, they couldn't agree on who would control it, they talked as individual states not as one national body.

My breed Club has a stale Puppy Inquiries contact on the VCA web site. Is it true that cannot be changed?

I recently asked an overseas general-media photographer's permission to use a shot in our breed mag. He wanted to see a sample newsletter. We used to have one in text on the VCA site, but it's not there at the moment and we can't do anything.

HMMMM me thinks that 'TEMPORARILY' is a very long time when it comes to the VCA website.

Its been

temporarily unavailable
for a long time now.
Thesaurus Legend:

Adv. 1. temporarily - for a limited time only; not permanently; for a moment, for a short time, for a little while
