They are bowls that have raised pillars in the bowl to stop "piggies" from gulping down their food, they are meant to help reduce bloating or choking. They seem like a great idea, obviously you wouldn't leave them around as they are made from melamine and some "chewers" might find the nodules a bit too tempting.
