Not including anY puppy preschool/obedience classes (yet to enrol in one of these as we will wait till he is fully vaccinated). Just what day to day training do others do with their pups. Or what others reccomend. Currently we are probably doing 3-4, 10-15minutes sessions a day as well as general random things eg. sitting before patting, coming inside and outside and waiting for food. huski Posted July 23, 2009 Share Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) I agree with Poodlefan ;) BTW - when it comes to puppy pre school, you don't need to wait until the pup is fully vaccinated to attend them. In fact, it's most advisable not to wait at all. Most pups attend puppy school from 8-12 weeks. I would be making sure you are still socialising him (that is, giving him new, positive experiences) - you don't want to put it off until he's fully vaccinated because the puppy's most critical period for socialisation is between 8-12 weeks. poodlefan Posted July 23, 2009 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Oh, one more thing.. don't drill a baby. If you say sit, and he sits immediately.. reward and end that little session. Don't ask him to do it again and again.. its the fastest way I know to demotivate a dog. You can train, play, and train again but avoid the drilling. Always end when the puppy is still interested and before his attention starts waning - even if training sessions only go for 30seconds - a minute.
