Watering/weeping Eyes

 Share

Recommended Posts

I asked my vet about this about two and a half weeks ago (while i was there about her spilt paw) when her eyes had just been weeping for two days. The vet just glanced at her eyes and said its nothing. There are still weeping/watering. They are never red, or sore looking or seem to bother her, but what is causing it? I just wipe away her eyes with a cotton ball every morning and night.

see photo for better explaination.

GSDs don't tend to get many eye issues, aside from pannus and dermoids, neither of which present like your dog.

If it is just watery tears and not mucky, it may be an environmental allergy (most likely as it is in both eyes), blocked or "lazy" tear ducts, extra eyelashes (very unlikely) or ectopic cillia (very unlikely).

My guess is environmental. Try bathing 3-4 times daily in cool Calendula Tea.

Good Luck!

thanks elfin, i saw the other thread and your post for the conjunctivitis thread and have just brought some Calendula tea today  Just wanted some second opinions incase it was serious.

My pup had the same, he had a tear duct infection which when it started looked like that, I would see an opthamologist to be sure. If i had left it she said it would have been a disaster, as it is my pup was on antibiotics for 20 days...

her problem is in both eyes but the left being the worst. Could this still possibly be a tear duct infection if it is affecting both eyes?

becks, what could of antihistimine can i use and how much for 30kg?

Only a specialist would be able to tell.
