i have an 8 month old staffy that i thought was toilet trained but as of the last few weeks he's takin to pooing an peeing on the carpet at night my 2 year old girl has also decided that if he's doing she's gonna do it i clean the peed on/ pood on area well when they do it an spray it with no vac animal odour spray. I put them out for the evening then there not allowed back in till 8.30 but by midnight i've caught the boy pooing. when i know which one it is i show them what they've done an tell them no an put them out which is not working i'm at my wits end i dunno what to do any advice would be much appreciated. I've changed his feeding till mornings only to see if it was that making him poo in the night

and it won't work

pups live in the moment.

Unless you catch them actually pooing- save your breath. the pup will have NO idea what you are doing- it will just seem like bullying to him

yes, he will look 'guilty'..but that is just a reaction to being told off...

You may well need to start toilet training again properly ( take pup out every hour, or couple of hours and wait until he does something, then praise him a lot, keep him on lead inside so you know what he's up to... and clean the messes with an enzyme based cleaner ..most other stuff does not remove the smell..so pup goes back there)

there are lots of toilet training threads in puppy problem forum :coffee:

Is your 8 month old desexed? It sounds very much like he is testing you and she is joining in.

Go back to the basics of toilet training. If they can not be trusted without supervision block off sections of the house with baby gates or puppy pen or crate them.

Edited to add:

I have just seen that your girl is pregnant. It's more then posible that this is causing your boy to act up.

I never thought that her being pregnant would affect his peeing but now that you mention it it does make sence cause he's also taken to humping her as a dominence thing i suspect so maybe he's i don't know "becoming a man". Gonna tie him up at his bed an get urine off an start takin them out all the time through the night. I checed that discussion thanks lot of information will be trying everything an hopefully he stops.

oh ok he grew outta the crate we had so i'll get a puppy pen an put it were his bed is. It's all very confusing to whats right an whats wrong we had months of perfection with his toilet training the first toilet trainint\g was pretty easy so hopefully the 2nd time round he'll stick to it
