Send Away Question

Hi all you Obedience people out there in the Internet world.

I've got a question that needs answering.

Do I have to say to Gambit, "Box" when sending him to the "BOX"

During practice he is dropping in the box. He will sit if I use "Spot" as the send away word. He will then go to the box, turn and sit.

If I was trialling, would I be pinned for not using the word "Box"?

All suggestions gratefully received

You can use whatever word you like Gamby. Somebody who trials here with a Cavalier (or use to) used "away". The only place in the rulebook where you are constrained with what word you use is utility food refusal and then the rule book stipulates you may only use the world "Stay" and no other.

Any word for a sendaway is ok as long as it is in english and not swearing.

I know quite a few that say square, other words that I have heard being used are

In

Out

Place

Mark

Away

go

Mat

If Gambit is dropping in the box, have you gone to far too quickly?

As Ness said the only time that you must use the word Stay in UD is for the food refusal

Thanks for the replies.

Now it is back to the drawing board to see which word he would prefer to work for.

I know, I'm the boss not him, but he is so cute and cuddley and does most of what I want him to do

It has to make sense to you and Gambit. Remember that it has to sound the same all the time, and don't ask, plead, beg or growl your command, tell him what you want him to do. Remember KISS.. and signal is to be very clear to him of what you want.

Have fun.. and let us know how you are getting on
