Feeding Raw Fish

Hello All

I am cooking for a dinner party tonight and am off to the Fish Markets this morning in search of something worthy of my culinary skills

I was thinking I could take the chance to pick up some whole raw fish for my whippet. He is currently on a raw diet... Barf Patties, RMB, Some blended veges and tinned sardines.

Any guidance on what I should be looking for? Will the little fish bones get stuck in his throat? Should I gut and scale them? What species?

Any tips?

I've fed whitebait, sardines and small whiting. :D

I feed raw sardines, mackerel, mullet and salmon heads :D

I feed mackeral, mullet, leather jacket, red spot whiting, sardines, salmon heads and body, trevally. They basically eat any fish thats cheap!

Got some salmon heads, whiting and a few mackeral bits and pieces.

Am wondering how often fish can be fed, I give Matey Sardines and havent tried other fresh fish

With a son who is a keen fisherman, I always say anything he doesn't want or use I want although like you I was abit unsure of wether to remove scales, sharp fins etc. In the end I did remove scales and sharp fins.

I just feed it when available....I have removed the really large sharp fins etc. But I noticed when hubby fed and did not, the dogs left the rough bits
