Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend someone around the north shore/Hornsby area of Sydney to help me with socialising my puppy. I am after a professional behaviourist.

He will be 6 months in about 2 weeks, and is increasingly becoming snappy to other strange dogs.

I dont want to attempt to fix this myself as I dont think I know the right way to go about it, and I think that if I unwittingly forced him into a situation where he was confronted with, rather than eased, into social contact with strange dogs, it would make things all the worse.

Thankyou!

Just wanted to say good luck, I emailed K9 Pro and they were very helpful, couldnt help me as I am in WA but I found a great person here and helped so well with a few minor things, money very well spent!

I am also in WA and could do with some assistance in training an extremely headstrong 9mth GSD - have already trained with 2 independent trainers but am no further ahead so could you please let me know who you went through?

I used an Animal Behaviourist who was worth his weight in gold and I saw results almost immediatley, very simple but not what I was being told by other trainers. I have a lifetime service with what I paid which was very reasonable and got a very large assesment and detailed document on what I and the dog needed to do.

Dr Garth Jennens (M.Soc.Sci., Ph.D.): is an Applied Animal Behaviourist with degrees in Zoology and Psychology and a doctorate in animal behaviour.

With GSD's, I think you are always better off with trainers who know the breed well, especially K9 experienced with working dogs, police or security dog backgrounds more so than the general purely positive trainers.

Its OK Garth is well known for the breed and has worked with the Police Service Dogs and Prison Dogs, ( personal reference)anyway best to call him yourself Skye and let him fill you in.
