Bleeding After Mating

Hi all

Last week our girl was mated on day 12 of her cycle and again on day 14. Both matings resulted in a tie. Since the mating I have noticed that she is still showing signs of bleeding (watery blood colour).

She has been mated before and I cant remember this happening with her last time.

She shows no sign of distress, pain etc and is still flagging to our other bitches, so I haven't consulted our vet just yet.

Is it normal for a bitch to still bleed this late in her cycle? Could it be a sign that the mating was not successful?

I've had bitches show good colour for their entire season and go on to produce a litter without fuss.

I wouldnt be to conserned yet ,some bitches do continue to showcolor discharge after mating ,but keep a close eye on it .

I have also had a female that continued to bleed for 4 weeks post mating --- My vet did a swab -- nothing out of order but I asked for antibiotics any way --- she whelped 8 puppies all fine.

Until she goes out of season it's perfectly normal for her to continue to discharge. I've found with mine that if they're pregnant they stop discharging almost immediately but I know this isn't universal

The colour wouldn't worry me, the flagging would and I'd have put the dog over her again until the didn't want him.
