I hand fed and cuddled the Emu doing the chasing in that shot today... he's a bit of a softie with people... but he certainly doesn't want to share with the poor other Emu, who was hiding in a corner trying not to be noticed... poor bugger!

I can now identify male and female adult Emus by the noises they make - you can't tell by physical looks at all. The males make a sort of a burping grunty noise, and the females "drum" - sounds like "book book book" to me. I call females "book-book chooks"... lol!

Bought a season pass to Featherdale yesterday also... the Emus there are really tame and they are so soft to stroke on the neck and head... *grin*... oh - and I have identified the one narky kangaroo that likes to bite.

Seriously - yesterday at Featherdale, and today at Symbio, I had people lining up to take photos of me cuddling the Emus... and I even convinced a few to have a go at feeding and petting them too.

I think I'm developing a bit of a fetish for patting Emus... is that a bad thing?

After spending all day at Featherdale yesterday patting Emus, I went to a friend's place for dinner, and got bitten by her BUDGIE!
