Dogs of Vietnam

Here are a few snaps of some dogs I've seen in the past 2 weeks in Vietnam (Hoi Ann and Saigon/HCMC) 

Thought I'd share. Vietnam definitely needs some sort of education in how to treat animals though, I have seen several casual minor cruelty issues here and know of some that are much more severe (like pet snatchers and the dog meat trade (more in the north I think)) 

But I have seen some lovely people with pet dogs who are well looked after, and seen several poor street dogs roaming about. 

Mostly mutts. Lots seem to be short legged with curly tails. 

Today I saw a tiny wiry terrier sitting on a motor scooter while its mum was eating lunch, he was in a little jumper  (poor thing though it was 30°+!) 

And another little pug/terrier kinda thing.

Lovely SnM,  I remember all the curl-tail dogs, I often wondered if they were an ancient-breed relative of Basenjis.  The street dogs were sad to see, yet so many people would give them some chicken and rice left-overs or the like, some of them were lovely friendly dogs, never aggressive.

I found Lao so different when it came to animals, met many cats in cafes and dogs at Temples all looking healthy and loved.

That was one of the things I didn't like about Vietnam the way they treated animals but I suppose if that's all you have to eat you eat it eh.

Went to a lovely village were all the animals were in great condition, I was just looking at the pics the other day. I got heaps of chook, dog, cat and cow pics!
