Good Brisbane Vet Surgeries

Here's my list of reccommended vets I have had dealings with and would do so again:

West Chermside Vet Specialists(and Pet ER) - a must see reproduction specialist (Dr Thomas) and first class after hours emergency service, not really that expensive for after hours.

Greencross Chermside: principal vet and owner has a soft spot for greyhounds and is very much geared for what is best for the animal, not the bank balance(although sometimes includes both!)

Manly Rd Vet Surgery - 24 hr surgery - have not had my animals treated there, but a close friend works there as a vet and their large animal treatment there is amazing. Toured the premises last week and would be happy to leave my babes there. Plus they do greyhound rehoming!

Camp Hill Vet Surgery - Tiny but very very good with rodents - specialises in guinea pigs(not much help on DOl i guess!)

and last but not least my current vet of 5 years Anvet Kedron - Dr Susan is thorough, down to earth and flexible. Plus I used to teach puppy schools there - biased! I highly reccommend her work and people must like her also - they are always busy! Plus she is another greyhound supporter!

Always happy to reccommend good service...getting harder to find these days...

My vets are great and they are I have found out are specialist and traume vets at West Chermside.

They also do not seem to be in it for the love of the money.

Godzilla has been going to the vet every fortnight for a check up for the last 6 months and I am not being charged as they consider it "on going"

As I do not have a car and if he needs to go to West Chermside to use the specialist equipment some one drives him over and picks him up.

Also if I have to go there for any emergencies (boy we have a few) they have been told to put it on my vets bill and I pay when I can.

They have also contacted me a few times if somone want to get rid of their pet for no valid reason and they will do the necessary surgery such as desexing to help rehome them.

They rang me up last week saying a lady was very upset as her baby was suffering from Ashma very badly and their pets had to go.

If she decides to rehome them they will be desexed, vaccinated and all their relevant history will go with them.

I even have to baby sit their latest sometimes when I go into the surgery so they can look at my mob.

We used to use the Acacia Ridge Vet Surgery on Foote Street and found them to be really friendly and thorough with their examinations and treatment. We only stopped using them because we got a very aggressive security dog and they continually failed to listen when we asked them not to touch the dog unless we had a firm hold of him first. After the vet was nearly knocked through the wall a few times we decided to looked for another vet.

Is this vet actually right down in Foote St or just at the end of the little shops on Mortimer Rd?

Years ago I lived down in Coopers Plains & had to take my mini foxie to a Vet near the corner of Mortimer Rd - they did a great job with her & they were really reasonably priced but really gave me the third degree about how she got hurt in the 1st place. Turns out she was kicked by my horse (I wasnt home at the time, but someone else saw it), but they really gave me a hard time about how it happened & made veiled hints that a person had kicked her (I can only assume they meant me! ) & I never felt comfortable there again.

This is my current vet - no complaints so far although I havent had anything done apart from vaccinations there, but my next door neighbours dog got kicked by a horse & they were very good to her (he was DOA, but they still tried to revive him etc & were very supportive afterwards & no charge). My only comment is that they arent very cheap but not particularly expensive either, but then as someone else mentioned, Im not sure that money should really come into it except as the last factor when deciding on a vet, you can always get more money but you can't replace your pet.

Yes it is... I think part of them questioning you like that was because they do care very much about the animals.

A few years ago my mothers cat went missing for over a week and when we eventually found it the poor cat had a massive swelling on the side of its body. Mum noticed the swelling but was running late for work so she locked it up in the bathroom and rang me at work asking if I could take it to the vet when I got home - I left work early and took it to the vet. I got the third degree as to why the cat wasn't brought to the surgery sooner but the care that cat received was outstanding. It turns out it was attacked by another cat and had some massive internal injuries. We got a phone call later that afternoon to say the cat was in intensive care and may not make it through the night. The staff took the cat home with them and nursed it through the night and during its recovery they totally spoilt it rotten. The cat was at the vets for 2 weeks with my mother visiting 3 times a day (before work, lunch time and after work) - most times my mother found the cat being cuddled by the staff and being hand fed to build up its strength.

I have been going to the same Vet for 20 years now.

Totally happy with her. She has changed practices twice since we first met and now owns her own property /practice.

When we lived northside Brisbane we used Arron Moles at Oakey Flat Rd Vet Surgery at Narangba, we are now at Lowood and will still continue to use Arron for surgeries, just need to find a local vet for the usual day to day stuff. I have used Arron for at least 10 years for horses and dogs. Can't praise him enough for his patience and willingness to treat even the most unfriendly animal.

I have two main vets..

Samford Vetinary Hospital. They are 24 hours which is good. They tend to be a little higher priced, but the extra care they take is worth it. Love Leigh or Debbie for Dogs.. and Judy for the Horses.

Another good vet I have used who is cheaper but a littl efurther for me is Dr Inglis at Kent Street, Wooloowin. He operates out of an old Garage and also owns Priceless Pets online vet meds.

The other vet I have used.. but last time I went there she was on maternity leave is Petmania Vet Surgery on Sth Pine Road. Tania used to be at Samford, with her vet nurse Rachel. They have moved to their own practice.. She is reasonably priced and they will do anything for you

Affordable Vet Care is certainly well priced. Excellent for vaccinations. They were stars on ACA about 12 months ago. Wasn't confidence making. Friends have not been happy with some more complicated procedures.

Dr. Mole is an excellent vet. As is West Chermside.

Thanks ML - used to go to another Greencross vet but left them for Calamvale...phew...

Hi i have a tiny chihuahua who is needing major patellar surgery. as you can imagine i am very very scared of her not waking up from surgery. can anybody recommend if there small dog has had major surgery where they went. i take her to calamvale... i would love to hear back what people think of this vet. i am a very worried mother!!

My experience with Calamvale has been great. They have breeders prices and they let me hold Poppy as she went to sleep under a GA for her hip scores. I was highly emotional that day and got teary because she looked dead (oh yeah I know FFS I am a nurse but it's all different when it's your baby). They were very good with me...lol and her!

They also took the time to attempt to put her IV in without shaving her leg - because she's a show dog. For me it pays to use a vet that deals with lots of show people and breeders.
