  1. l don't like the choker chain either my older dog pulled so hard he really hurt his throat he wouldn't eat and his bark was different afterwards. So l don't know what we will do with that training side of it .l know my husband won't like tassie wearing one .
  2. Thanks everyone for your replies. We tried the school in Narre Warren North 3 years ago .l wanted to know if there were any other schools in my area well my husband will give ADT ago . l have to book tassie in for her first timer session. l read all your post ADT is really close and the times are good (for training). Cheers Goldy
  3. l live in Berwick Melbourne need a doggy school .she will be 6 months .open to training on weekdays does anyone know of a school
  4. l waited with my older dog about 2 years from his last needle when l took him too the vet thinking l will do the right thing and l felt bad for waiting longer , he had a reaction and l was worried sick thinking what have l done to you. It was a C7 didn't know they were out. He had the biggest lump full of fluid didn't seem right had to keep my eye on him for three weeks .So now l have been told not to give him any more. The pup had hers on Friday her last one so she can go walking now and l was just scared because of what happened to my first dog.l am in two minds as to a booster in 1 year or 2 years. If l had another pup l would still give the new pup its vac's and hope all will be ok. It breaks my heart that so many puppys are getting so sick. The Vet said there was parvo in the area l know they can still catch it even though they have been vac.
  5. Fiery di coco's reaction Just read the post what an eye opener it has got me thinking No more Vac's
  6. Staffyutopis hope your pup is heaps better. My bundle of joy 4 month staffy pup. Had Tassie vac on Friday last week her 3rd one l hold my breath and pray she has no side effects this one was ok the C5 but l hate it when my doggys have to get the vac. l really dont want her getting pavo so she has the vac at the puppy stages. Her 2nd needle she had a slight reaction where a large fluid lump appeared around the area of the needle it took its time to disappear. Told the vet when l went in for her third. My other staffy he had his 3 year old shot and it left a large lump that took ages to go away rang vet they said hot face washer and wait. He wont be getting any more beening an atopic dog l wont take the risk.
  7. Hi Miranada, I am always looking out for those grass seeds l check his feet after his walks.Sometimes the lumps are like he has been pricked by those nasty thorn weeds. He should stay on footpaths but l see so much broken glass it makes me mad. Hi Jodie, l might be using my Malaseb way too strong. Would you use 1 teaspoon to a cup of water? HI Caffiend42, Aloe Vera 3 times a day l am off to get some also.Is it 1 teaspoon 3 times a day? thanks Goldy
  8. My staffy gets those red lumps in between his paws l think they are coming from the weeds or thorns if walking in the park or on nature strips . The lumps are raised and have a tiny head on them that can burst and bleed. l have seen so many Vets for the problem but l dont seem to get any answers. Now l wait to see if they come to a head and if they go away by themselves. I wipe the apple cider vingear on the red lumps. I saw a vet last week for the redness inbetween his paws she said to try Daktarin a powder from the chemist a powder for antifungal treatment instead of the Malaseb. This could be too strong .She said try to keep the paws dry. l couldnt find the powder so l got the spray which gives a white powder coat once sprayed. Toby hates it and it smells and it doesnt seem to be working. lt would be a shame but l think dog booties will help his feet.
  9. Cazbear Sorry to hear about Minty it really hurts when they get sick hope all goes well and Minty is back home running around that backyard. Tassie turned 3 months today just found a lump on her eyelid back to the vet. Sending healing vibes Michelle
  10. To Kamuzz my staffy has another problem with his paw found it last night red lump inbetween the toes wants to lick and under the paw red .He keeps getting these lumps and the red sore paw .l dont know if it is a bite or a reaction from weeds but l just put some apple cider vinegar on it to stop the licking (l think he is starting to like the vinegar) and a sock.It is raining today and he is so bored he wont let me type on the computer. l was given a cream from the vet Conofite (topical antifungal agent for dogs cats and horses. Will have to wait and see if the lump comes to a head ,burst then clears up. They keep coming back and l dont know what causes them. Thanks for the info on the tea tree oil l didnt know it had to be diluted let me know how the red soreness goes in the paw and if you found some treatment. cheers goldy
  11. Herbal would be EVEN better Sorry to hear about your dog , my neighbours collie is 12 years old and she has the sore back hip and shaky legs . She still goes for walks even though in alot of pain the vet suggested pain killers and anti inflammatorys. There is a web site called www.kmihome.com.au they have vitamin sprays that can be used for animals and humans. The one for arthritis is called Pro flex if it gives some relief l would try it.
  12. I have been all over the place as well great to get some names for other vets. l liked the RSPCA Burwood they knew straight away that my pup had mange( and my fee bill goes towards helping the homeless animals) where as the other place(Vet) l went to first didnt have a clue . I am interested in this Rowville vet.
  13. Quote from Steve 'Cooked chicken has no benefit for the dog whatsoever. Its better to give the chicken on its own in a seperate meal to your dry food . Anything the dog doesnt eat in 15 mins take away' Thanks steve this is what l needed to know. The chicken and the dry dog food. He eats all his food in 1 minute he has a raw hide bone after dinner loves to get his teeth into them but has a process of taking the head off first then he goes for the center bit pulls it out and thats it l am happy goes to sleep he is a staffy .Also the vets have said he had beautiful teeth. l will give the chicken necks another go l know the breeders feed them to their dogs. He doesnt like pigs ears.
  14. My friend has a gold cocker(male undesexed) and a lab(desexed male) .I found the gold cocker is always after attention when l go around but they both love you to death.Well when l took my dog to have a play at 1 year (male undesexed)my dog and the gold cocker got into a fight l think it was for my attention they both got jealous. Now l cant take 'T' over any more .Now if l ever see a cocker spaniel while out walking 'T' will have ago only at that breed. Well the owner of the two dogs cocker and lab,if she comes over to my house well beware "T' wets the place pees on her the floor and this is the only person he does it too so we try not to get him excited but he still pees. Now l know it is submission/excitement urination.l just dont understand why her only. Does my dog love my friend that much??
  15. dear hedds He is fussy when it comes to dry dog food turns his nose up at it but when the chicken is added he will eat it. When he was younder he had some raw bones l think he choked on some bone very sharp splinters l just worry when he eats these the sharp dagger points. MY friend gave me a whole heap of chicken necks he wouldnt eat them had to give them back . He is keen for dinner.Should they be fed once a day or two meals but halved. He usually eats at 6.oo pm but sometimes l think he would like lunch after his morning walk goldy
