https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-09-16/dogs-shot-dead-attacking-livestock-wa-owners-urge-law-change/101436138 Then this one. They really don't get it. If you love your fur child keep it home.... They have no idea the destruction done by their dogs. I still have nightmares of the sight of my neighbours sheep, pink from her ears to all four feet walking dazed and deep shock, all her skin torn off, torn flank showing her intestines to the morning light, two of her saanan goat paddock mates, equally in shock, flanks torn open internal organs bulging outwards. Doc was an orthopedic surgeon so had all the necessary antibiotics and surgical gear to stitch the savable back together, but nothing could save the poor ewe. Days later the killers came back, three German shepherds, a neighbour saw them coming and quick phone calls had four other neighbours waiting for them, Doc included. None got away that time. Later learnt over 50 sheep and goats had died the previous 3 months. Chip numbers disclosed they were supposedly locally owned, although had travelled over 2 miles to docs for their fun

I wouldn't give in to those morons. And I know exactly what you mean because they are everywhere! I think you need your lovely dog and you should keep her. Could you put a sign on the car with words like" this dog is loved and well cared for. Please mind your own business". Or something like that. There are a couple of Aussie Terriers around my way and they are well behaved, lovely dogs. Your dog is important to you. Don't let the busy bodies win.

I am so F*cken fed up! There are so many irresponsible and entitled dog owners about the place and so many busy bodies in the community that I am rehoming my darling little dog because I cannot deal with living with Joe Public and owning a dog at the same time. Jilly is an Australian Terrier, 4 years old, happy, healthy, desexed, very well cared for and a great little character. I will miss her sorely, but dealing with complete ar**eholes nearly EVERY day of the week is affecting my health. When she is in her new home I will be able to walk around in my lovely suburb and not care if other people don't have their dogs on leashes, I will be able to duck into the shops without coming back to my car with a gaggle of busy bodies taking down my number plate details and telling me that leaving dogs in a car is illegal. Honestly, it is beyond bad. My heart is going to explode!! You can see photos of Jilly in the photos photos photos section of this forum. PM me if interested.

New Life for Corgi Rescued From Tiny Melbourne Balcony.
Mairead replied to Deeds's topic in In The News
"400 people applied to adopt Harry". I would like to know how many were suitable homes and if they went on to adopt another dog. Or were they only interested in a famous dog, or a broken dog? It sounds like the right decision was made for him to have a mentor dog. - Yesterday

Found Samoyed in Calamvale, Brisbane. Microchip is from NSW. Liverpool Council in NSW has left a message with the registered owner. Message me with proof of ownership. Safe with me. I've notified vets etc.

Microchip is from NSW. Qld vets can't access the NSW database (maybe because it's a weekend?). Message me with proof of ownership. I won't give microchip number to anyone not a verified vet / vet nurse. Dog safe with me as long as necessary.

Dog Breeder Charged After Alleged Punchup at Sydney Terrier Show.
Mairead replied to Deeds's topic in In The News
Saying it was a terrier show is very poor reporting. You might be imagining a dispute over a stripping knife. -

The NSW Police News site mentions Raptor Squad was involved. They deal with "serious and organised crime". -

It’s probably worth noting that it wasn’t a Dogs NSW club or event. The mention of a banner made me wonder. (My guess is that it was an advertising banner.) -

What a fluff article... virtually no information whatsoever except for the fact that the show was on May 3, and he'd been arrested yesterday in relation to it. Would be useful to know why he'd been banned from attending the shows and what his banner said. T. -

Dog Owner Ordered to Pay More Than $100k Over Dog Attack.
Rebanne replied to Deeds's topic in In The News
Regardless of the leash, bottom line is off lead dog attacked on lead dog. I too, still have my one and only retractable leash. Very useful tool. I can get tangled in a 6 foot lead. Neither the attacked dog or owner deserved what happened to them. -

Retractable leads should only be used after owners are taught HOW . Unfortunately, their use reminds me of dog park use- a lot of people just use them to give their dog more freedom....and have no idea of otherwise controlling their dog .(or ABOUT their dog's behaviour generally) When training guide dogs we used to use these , and I still use them on youngsters as a training aid .I still have my original, from the 80's! -

Someone took a souvenir It would have needed a fair bit of effort, and a decent knife to carry this out ...doesn't appear to me a spur-of-the-moment decision ...it's concerning.- 1 reply

Dog Owner Ordered to Pay More Than $100k Over Dog Attack.
tdierikx replied to Deeds's topic in In The News
Interesting that they report that she had her dog on a retractable lead, and that she tangled herself in it and tripped over during the incident. Those leads should be banned, as they are a hazard in more ways than one, and no-one using them ever has any actual control over where their dog is going. I certainly don't condone the larger dog attacking the smaller one, but I note that we are only hearing one side of the story of this incident, and have no idea what the actual circumstances leading up to the attack were. I've had people walk their dogs on retractable leads by my house, and many of those dogs have decided to toddle up my driveway while the owners were oblivious to where they were walking until the lead hit it's end point, or they heard my dogs going mental at the arrival at my front door of a strange dog. I've also had small dogs on those leads rush up at my dogs when we've been out and about too. T.
