  1. If you are in Brisbane, why not head along to the show training classes held at Durack on Thursday nights? they only cost $3 per dog and they are very relaxed and friendly. This way you can learn before you hit the ring, and when you feel confident enter some shows.
  2. Hi, Ive lost my catalogue, does anyone have the total entries for show 2 at the dog of the year support committee shows held on saturday at Durack?
  3. Sorry I was offline over the weekend! I have sent you a PM and can bring them along to the next show so you can take a look at them. Let me know
  4. Mine are the medium size, if that helps
  5. I have a set I never use anymore as I have switched to a small breed, they are in perfect condition and I am happy to sell if you are interested, I am showing at Durack on Sunday and can bring them along if you would like?
  6. Hi all, I am on the hunt for a good condition 2nd hand 4 berth Trolley preferably in the Brisbane area - I Just missed out on the one currently being advertised in the market place. So if you have one you are no longer using and would consider selling please let me know! Cheers Mell
  7. Thanks, thats fabulous, we have been feeding VAN for over 2 years with our show dogs and I couldn't be happier!
  8. Hi I currently feed VAN complete mix and love it with great results. I have my first litter on the way and will be raising them on the puppy mix, however for my puppy buyers I would like to include samples in their puppy packs that we provide. Is it possable as a breeder to purchase sample packs to send with our pups to their new homes?
  9. No tracheal or palate problems that I have been told, just a high incedence of chest infections. But again this is relying talk from various breeders, as far as I am aware autopsies are rarely performed to account for the true cause of death.
  10. French Bulldogs, so relativley small
  11. Thanks, I will add the Deelee suction catheter to my whelping supplies list. I would assume the puppy tube is small enough for small breed pups?
  12. Thanks Sway, It hard when the breed community tend to refer to all chest related infections in pups as chest infections. I am trying to do as much research as I can on prevention. No one I know tube feeds as a preventative. Several put their new borns straight onto injectable antibiotices for the first few weeks. When you suction after feeding what are you using?
  13. I would assume so, generally when talking to breeders they simply state CHest infection as the cause. Its also a Bracci Breed so not sure if this leads to a higher instance of Aspiration. Seems to make no difference if pups are bottle fed or feeding off the bitch.
  14. Hi All I am involved in a breed that seems to have a high infant mortality rate due to chest infections. So I would like to ask the DOL breeders Brains trust regarding their experience with new born pups and chest infections, prevention methods etc.. Very interested to see If I can learn something new, and possibly reduce the heart ache... Cheers Mell
  15. Your edited list of questions looks fine by me, I always reply to puppy enquiries with a detailed email about our dogs and our helth testing etc so alot of your questions would be answered by my initial response anyway. But I am involved in Frenchies, and sadly I get alot of enquiries from would be puppy farmers, or pet people who want to breed to get their money back...so I would be thrilled to get your list of questions as it would indicate to me that you are genuinely interested in the breed and doing your research. As breeders we cant complain that people aren't researching their breed and looking for ethical breeders of we aren't prepared to take the time to educate them and answer their questions. I am more then happy to answer a hundred and one postive questions then have have to answer the same horrid question - I want to breed, will you sell me a pup I can breed with....
  16. Hi I will try and get an entry in for you for group 7, will next week be okay?
  17. Your probably sick of frenchies but some pics of my girl from her baby days... LOL no wonder the judges couldn't resist her!! She did mature just a beautifully and got her title in May...
  18. Hi all, Seems there are no Chirpractors in Bundy, Does anyone know of a Chriro/Muscle man in caboolture or north of Caboolture? Cheers Mell
  19. Hi All I cant find my schedule for killarney tomorrow, can anyone let me know what time it starts and if group 7 is on 1st or 2nd Cheers Mell
  20. This has been sorted, Amstaffs are not considered to pitbulls in QLD are have been deemed a breed in their own right and not restricted in terms of BSL, check out the Dogs QLD website for the media releases from the QLD state government. BSL legislation has been amended and passed as law protecting the amstaff from BSL.
  21. As with the above, ask the inexperienced breeder if they are prepared for the heart ache of loosing an entire litter one by one from a bacterial infection, rushing them to the vets pumping their tiny little bodies full of antibiotics only to loose them, and wait for the autopsy results to find out what went wrong, only to find out it was just one of those things, nothing could have prevented it. Thousands of dollars later, heartache and tears, a very stressed bitch who doesn't understand where her babies have gone. This is a real event and happened just this week to a very dear friend of mine who has been breeding for over 12 years. Does he know what to look for when the bitch is struggling in labor and will need an emergency C section? after hours emergency vet care will be a minimum of 2 grand. Does he know how to give injections not just for mum, but for those puppies if they require antibiotics or are dehydrated? what about if they end up with chest infection or fluid on the lungs, is he prepared to sit up all night to put them on a nebuliser every 2 hours and needle with antibiotics? Again a real scenario that happened to another friend this year. What if his bitch ends up with pyometra? does he know the signs? is he prepared to emergency spay her to save her life? This happens more often then you would think. Is he prepared to wash bedding everyday to ensure everything stays sanitary, is he prepared to disinfect himself and his family every time they re-enter the home to prevent the risk of the puppies getting parvo? does he know the signs of parvo? The list is endless, the sad thing is there are unethical breeders outh there who will dismiss all of this as nothing and no doubt when you are puppy farming the loss of 1 litter or the bitch is nothing, they are just business...but when you love your dogs, and are breeding for love and not money the above scenarios will and should break your heart.
  22. American Staffordshire Terriers will not be added to BSL restrictions: http://statements.cabinet.qld.gov.au/MMS/S...e.aspx?id=70902 Huge thanks to Dogs QLD for all their efforts to ensure the future of the Amstaff!
  23. Just a big thanks to JSK for being a fabulous steward! she did a great job and kept her rings organized and flowing! Thanks JSK!! the Judges were also a lovely bunch, with Mr John Rice and Mr Ben Luxton both happy to give feed back to exhibitors. Great weekend all round!
  24. I'm still trying to work out what to wear, its been 6 months since my last show, I cant decide whether its going to be warm or cold, do I go skirt suits or pant suits and what colour!!
  25. I have seen this in Amstaffs, If she is a blue from a red parent, or with a lot of red in the pedigree the blue does tend to get a smutty or bronzy as they get older, just one of those things.
