  1. Wasnt there another thread on this dog food just last week where the same and other issues were raised finishing up with someone saying they couldn't see why it was "holistic"? Or was that a different mysterious dog food? I wouldn't risk it.
  2. Can they have those three dropkicks declared dangerous morons?
  3. He might be still playing the "puppy card" but he jumped up on a tall fence today and I realised he has grown a humungous amount since I got him. He is a very big puppy!! Still scrawny but seriously BIG! Today our neighbours have returned from a failed attempt at relocating interstate. They have been gone since before I moved here so we've always had a vacant lot one side and an empty house the other. Now the house is occupied and they have a West Highland Terrier named Sophie. The fence on their side of my block is low................ Sophie is cute as a button but growls and barks when she's nervous. Three big dogs clamouring at the fence make her nervous!!!..... ... you can imagine the fun and games we've been having all day. Dylan wants to PLAY and has nearly been over the fence several times. Bossy Tango keeps having a go at the Westie through the fence when she growls and pepper just wants to say hello politely but can't get in between the boys antics. Still - nice to meet the neighbours and their little dog. We're already discussing new fencing!!!
  4. I wish I could be so sure of my gang - I think they'd pick the snake up!!! I was a little disturbed by a few pics in there of baby browns with KIDS poking their hands at them. As I understand it the babys are just as venomous as the adults!!!
  5. What? Maybe I dont understand how all this stuff works but NO WAY would I have "stayed" when my dog is off wandering, especially after an incident with another dog. What sort of authority do these "judges" have?
  6. LOL Yep. Dylan learnt some new things today! Lifes lessons for Dylan: 1. Bossy lady doesn't really want you eating disgusting smelly dried up entrails 2. When Bossy Lady tries to take disgusting entrails off you don't dart away like it's a funny game 3. Bossy Lady doesn't like you taking smelly animal remains into the back of the car. 4. Dont mess with Bossy Lady after a 2 hour walk on a hot day when she's tired and grumpy and hasn't eaten yet!!!!! and the BIGGEST lesson..... 5. If you do all of the above and dart away from Bossy Lady when she's trying to get entrails off you and get you in the car Bossy Lady will pack everyone else into the car and drive off and leave you there. End result, Dylan has to run a LONG way to find out where Bossy Lady and the gang disappeared to - sans disgusting entrails!!!! ;) Watch out for CCTV's LOL. They'll get you for 'dumping your pooch"! (ref. story in UK where very nasty man drove off and left his dog ) BTW Did you know "Dylan" means "Son of the Wave". Legend is he was the twin of the sun who went to live in the sea. His uncle killed him and when he died it was said that all the seas wept. No I didn't know that! What a great legend. As for the CCTV LMAO - it's okay - all I'd get is a slap on the wrist anyway far as I can tell BTW Do any of you remember in Tangos early days here he used to go up to Pepper in her bed and bark at her to make her get out so he could have it??? He hasn't done that in a long time but just now I heard Dylan making a funny moaning sound and then Tango barked and I looked around and saw Pepper and Dylan curled up together in the bed that's in the sun. Tango is standing over Dylan trying to intimidate him so that he'll get out and let Tango in. Dylan is rubbing his nose into the blanket and moaning. Tango barked and snarled. Dylan didn't move hahahahaha Pepper ignores it all - she no longer cares. So, as I type, Tango is still standing over Dylan, staring intently at him, waiting for him to be intimidated. Dylan is keeping his eyes averted but not budging. Somehow I don't think Dylan is the pushover Pepper was. .............. Oh wait. Tango just went to plan B. He just darted up the hall barking as if something was wrong. Dylan followed. Tango ran straight back and took his spot and is now curled up with Pepper!!! ROFLMAO Dylan is in the other bed moaning and whinging.
  7. Why? Are you in the habit of teasing people with a tasty mouthful of rotting entrails? bwahahahahaha :) I just snorted tea out my nose!!!
  8. Of course they do. And why wouldn't they? I mean to say that this is of no surprise to me and really, if people thought about it logically, it should present no surprise to them either. After all, most people try to communicate to dogs in "human ways" ..... and we're the ones who are meant to be the smarter species, so there's no amazement that any other species of animal would or should not try to communicate with us in their own mode of communication. To me that's a no brainer. Yep!

  10. Awwwww poor little dude! Hurt his widdle neckywecky. Big tough staffy-waffy
  11. Yes they are! But especially Dylan and your cav hee hee I wish I had a training group or something near here I could take him to. I guess I'll just have to keep making it up myself
  12. pawpaw ointment or manuka honey (medicinal grade 15+ or above) are the two best treatments I know of for killing off nasties and speeding up healing in cuts and burns Pawpaw ointment is cheaper but I think medicinal grade manuka honey is more potent. For a slight cut pawpaw will do just fine.
  13. Fantastic photos of the doggies!!! Just adorable. The snake?? ..... I'd say a small brown snake. You're very lucky no-one was hurt!!! Here's some pics brown snakes
  14. What a smarty pants!!! Yesterday I noticed a Cheerio had rolled under the little couch in the kitchen area. So I bent down to get it and Dylan followed. He went into a "down"position to crawl under the couch and get the Cheerio. A thought suddenly occurred to me. I said "Down" just as he reached the Cheerio. Then I got some dog treats and put one under the couch. He went under to get it and I said "Down!". LMAO I did that several times then I got him in front of me and put a treat in my hand, moved it to the floor and said "Down!". After a bit of fussing he went into a "down" position. I did that a few more times till suddenly as soon as I said "Down" and made the hand signal he went into a "down" position!!!! OMG! I was so surprised at how easy that was. It took all of 5 minutes or so!!! I got out some roast chicken and used that as a treat for a couple of goes just to reinforce it. My other two dogs were incredibly patient. They were with us at the time but didn't try to get Dylans treats or interfere. They just sat quietly nearby and I occassionally gave them a treat for "sit"! I tested him again this morning and as soon as I said "Down" and moved my finger toward the floor he dropped into a "down" and stayed there. Yay! What a smarty. I wonder if all dogs learn it that fast! Now what should I teach him next?
  15. Exactly. Although I still don't know how he got in the river! Did he jump or did he fall???
  16. Thanks! It's good to know the hilarity got across in words!!
  17. Griff - ... yep! move to the country for a quiet life hee hee
  18. I was house-sitting a neighbours house when Pepper was only about a year old. I brought my dogs with me and I was doing something in the kitchen when I looked down and saw Pepper polishing off a carton of rat poison. I immediately reached for a salt container and shoved salt and my fingers down her mouth and an agonisingly long time later she vomited up a whole lot of green stuff. I raced home, rang my vet and talked about it with him. He was very encouraging. In Pepper's case she'd just eaten dinner before hand and she'd managed to vomit her stomach contents so he didn't think she'd be in trouble. But he told me the symptoms to look for in case she had some still in her. He mentioned Vit K treatment and was very reassuring about how successful he'd been using that to treat cases of poisoning. Pepper was totally fine - she clearly didn't retain any poison. But I kept a close eye on her for the next few days and also gave her supplements in her diet to boost her immunity and general health for the next month or so. My point is that while rat poisoning can be fatal it's NOT a death sentence - especially if you get it early enough. I am continuing to keep your pooches in my thoughts.
  19. I agree with husky. People have no idea do they lanabanana!!
  20. Huski! That's fantastic! I do know what you mean. Sadly I still havent got Tango to the point where I could let him off the lead and he'd come like that - so I am very envious ;) But Pepper does it every time ever since she was little.
  21. Oh no this is expected and certainly will be part of the future for all pet owners. It has been sugested many times and by the most respected of the radical no more pets groups, that one of the best ways to get rid of pet dogs is to start going after the owners. Make it very difficulte and intrusive to get a dog. Must have permit in advance from the shire in order to get a dog, tests and/or classes prior to getting a permit, home inspections and approval of the breed wanted, making sellers of pets responsiable to do background checks and the buyers would have to pay for all this (part of getting the permit) and seller would keep the documention, it goes on and on. Yes this fits in very nicely. Oh I see! So ultimately they're trying to encourage black marketeering! k9angel. When my local petshop had puppys for sale in their shop one day, I walked in - told the owner off, gave him a lecture about BYB and dog pounds, told him he'd lost a good customer, walked out without making my usual purchases and never returned.
