LOL TLC - Yeah I know that "nose to nose" thing - it's a split second of shock and then sooooo nice. I'm the same. Mad as my morning wake-ups are, since Dylan arrived especially, I wouldn't change it for the world. I might need to teach Dylan not to be quite so rough on my tummy but that'll happen

LOL I am loving this thread. SOrry my post is such an EPIC effort - I am such a "have-a-chat". WHy say it in a few words if you can say it in HUNDREDS of them eh!!!

Awww they are so cute!! LOL Didn't like they were going anywhere in a hurry! Mine vary. Pepper sneaks up on the bed at some point in the am and burrows under the quilt then cuddles quietly into me, I usually sleep right through that. Sometimes Dylan will also sneak up and lie on top of the quilt tucked into the back of my knees. Tango just stays in his bed. awwwww UNTIL I make a "I'm awake" noise of any kind. Then Tango leaps excitedly up on the bed and squashes Pepper coz he didn't see her. She thrashes about under the quilt trying to escape often accidentally clawing me in the process. Dylan thinks it's all a great game and leaps onto my stomach or side or whatever is exposed and sticks his nose in my mouth/nose/ear and flicks licks at me. Tango also high-steps on my tummy etc trying to avoid the wriggling Pepper under the quilt. Then Tango slides down with his head cuddled into mine, front first on his side, followed by his back then as his back hits the quilt he rolls fully on his back and wriggles estatically while moaning and flinging his legs in the air and (gently) mouthing my hand or face or whatever he can reach. Meanwhile Pepper has usually slid out of the side of the bed and then jumps back up, sits almost on my head leaning against the bedhead and waves her front leg around asking for a chest scratch. At the same time DYlan generally has decided being under the quilt looks like the best fun so he's trying to wriggle his way in (plus it gets him out of the range of Tango's teeth and he's worried by Tangos wierd rolling around and moaning noises) Often Dylan somehow slides under the quilt (on the non-Tango side) usually on his back, head first a little at a time with his legs in the air grabbing the quilt as he goes. It really is a sight to see him slowly disappearing under the quilt as if he's on a conveyor belt with his little belly and back "frog" legs sliding under the quilt at the very end hahaha . MEANWHILE = Tango is still wriggling and flinging and moaning and Pepper is still bashing me on the head for a pat and if Tango's head goes near her he makes a wierd half bark sound and mouths her face heee heee She is used to that now but it freaks me out because my head is also in the general vicinity. And then Dylan gets bored, wriggles out of the side of the bed and leaps back up on top of the bed - usually on top of Tango who snarls and lunges at him sending Dylan flying and Pepper scampering into me and I yell RIGHT EVERYONE OFF THE FREAKING BED because I'm getting squashed and harassed by everyone. And all the dogs go -> If I try to hide under the covers and pretend to go back to sleep they wait a while and then it all starts all over again. Until I yell FINE I'LL GET UP THEN. ANd they all joyfully scamper up the hallway with tails going nuts. YAY SHE's UP!!! FOOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!! PLAY!!!!!! BARK AND FIGHTTTTTTT!!!!!! Well...... you did ask. ;)

My dogs work for kibble but that's because it's not what they are normally fed They generally get wet food (raw or canned for Tango) I used to use Eagle Pack, then I switched to Natures Gift but I didnt like the effect it had on Pepper's skin (she seems to get itchy on it tho she's fine with the canned if she gets some of that). I'm about to try Artemis. Oh and they like the natures gift strappy treat things which I can pick up cheap from Chicken Feed.

Yes, when I read Shirleys article I got to the end and just thought that "shock" collar was only a very extreme circumstance and I would be going back to the basics rather than moving into that area. I usually just take what I need and think is good from anything like that and if there's something I disagree with I just leave it out But if I got to that level of desperation I'd probably either resign myself to never getting a recall (which I might have to do with Tango LOL It's okay we manage pretty well with a long line most of the time) or - especially with a young dog like DYlan - get some professional help LOL It looked like really good advice in the rest of the article And thanks for the added tips Aiden!!

Unfortunately I agree it's probably going to be an expensive and difficult process and may not be worth it. I know how frustrating and heart-breaking it is, I wanted to do the same thing about a vet who behaved towards me and my dog with such callous disdain when I took him in for a sudden "limp" and small lump on his leg. She was in a hurry coz she had a conference to go to and was quite off-hand and rushed about it all. SHe looked at his leg for a minute and said "arthritis". Then went to usher me away. I said "Wait - how can you be sure it's not a tumor?" She sighed and said "You can't - unless you x ray" So I said "So x-ray him!". She did (charged me $400) and said it's just a little arthritis in his lower joint. Sold me some Sasha's, whinged about how I'd parked my car, took my money and waved me off. She seriously misdiagnosed him, she didn't even get the location of the problem right. If she'd looked properly she would have seen it was CANCER, I later discovered it was treatable at that stage. Anyway, long story short - when I finally found a vet who knew what they were doing it was too late. He was pts 5 months after that first idiotic vet saw him. If she'd taken the proper steps to diagnose his presenting problems he would have been treatable at that stage. I was so distressed when he died I dearly wanted to do something about the original vet but in the end I realised it wasn't worth it. Hard to prove, yes they lie (she refused to let me have the xrays she took and I almost had to take her to court to get her to send them to my new vet a couple of months later - clearly hiding something. I don't even know if she took any as she wouldn't let me see them at the time), lots of stress etc and money - and anyway - I somehow felt it was all my fault - still do to an extent. So I had to let the issue go. I'd just spent over $3,000 trying to save my darling boy as it was. I was pretty broke by then. The system totally sucks. I wish I could at least name the cow and stop her from destroying anyone else's beautiful pets. Good luck with whatever you decide tho and please, if you do go ahead, please keep us informed as it is an issue that's very important to me. I have a deep deep distrust of vets now - especially as I know no-one takes the dodgy ones to task so you can't tell if yours is good or not. ETA Sorry to be so negative. You might have a better case so you should talk with someone who can give you some good objective advice.

I just ordered it from the website - postage was reasonable and it got here pretty fast. That's exactly what it is. Tango does that to me every time I take him on an off-leash walk hahahahaha Good tip re thinking about the recall command in an emergency. I have an aversion to yelling out the word "come" in public - sorry but I can't help it. And when I think about it I actually yell out "Tango here" or "Pepper Come HERE" So "here" is really the word I should use for this training. Thanks for that. I tend to follow the "right" instructions too much some times. And thanks for the link. I was following this thread in the hopes of getting help with Tango and when I read suggestions to buy stuff I just thought "Oh no! I can't spend MORE money on these dogs. I'm already broke and have to keep money aside to get the pup de-sexed". I just don't have a bottom less wallet - or spangly purse for that matter.

Hi I thought I'd try something different with the spotty gang and just bought a pack of the Phuds porridge type dog food. I've used VANs in the past but since this one doesnt have any yeast (and only has ONE purine rich ingredient - lentils - which is way down the bottom of the list AND easy to pick out, so I can give some to Tango!!!) I thought I'd give it a go. THe pack is a bit short on directions tho. It just says things like "appropriate amount" or something. Can anyone who uses it tell me how much should you feed the dog - in proportion to meat. And how much water to Phuds should you use. Do you need to leave it a while like VANS, I mean is it better to or do you all just use it immediately? How long does it keep if you mix up a whole lot at once? This is for 3 dalmatians with an average wieght of 20 ks Any thoughts and also suggestions/ideas on what to mix it with or recipes you might have made with it would be appreciated. It sure looks great - good enough to eat actually!!! Smells like a good quality muesli.

Try getting post poo dane zoomies in the house... Sometimes when we're out walking he forgets that he does not need to cock his leg to poo - a tad amusing watching him balance on 3 legs by a tree whilst pooing. :D Nearly choked on me pie!!!

Okey dokey :D Will do it asap. BTW THis afternoon I heard odd noises comiing from the spare room. I went to investigate and couldn't see anything amiss. I stood in there for a while. Nothing. So I came back out into the lounge room. Heard noises from the spare room again. Went back up there. NOthing there. THis happened a couple more times before I realised Dylan had been missing for some time. I went back into the spare room and saw the ruffle at the bottom of the bed move just slightly. I bent down and looked under the bed and saw Dylan lying flat to the floor and trying to move to the very furthest corner where I couldn't see him. He wasn't doing anything, he hadnt chewed anything or hidden anything under there with him. He'd just been hiding under there every time I went in there to invesigate the noise he was making as he climbed OUT from under the bed!!!! HAHAHAHAHA LIttle devil had been hiding under the bed in the spare room whenever I went in there. He was playing hide and seek with me. ETA WHen he saw me looking at him under the bed he came crawling over, tail going nuts and licked my face and then bounded out from under the bed and ran down the hall like a loony!!! He is hilarious.

Eeeeuuuwwww. For some reason my most lady-like and elegant Pepper just loves rolling in poo (not dog or cat poo fortunately) - she was a pain when I had the ponies staying here for a couple of weeks.

:D This reminded me - my last male dally once peed on two blokes legs. Hahahaha I didn't mind tho because it happened as we walked past their front fence. They came up close to the fence and started talking in Lebanese - it was clearly aimed at me and was NOT polite!!! Anyway they were busy laughing at whatever they were saying about me and my dog suddenly lifted his leg as he walked and let fly a long stream of pee - all across their legs and feet. HAHAHAHA They screamed and jumped back in shock. I said "Oh dear, I'm so sorry!!!! Such a naughty dog!!!!" hee heee and they just looked at me with embarassed expressions. I gave my dog a big pat on the head and a cuddle as we got down the road a bit. He really didn't usually do that sort of thing so I believe he did it on purpose coz they were being obscene towards me!!!
