  2. Interesting..... Thanks for posting this. Hogz
  3. Yes and the rules and regulations are there for a reason. The OP asked what was the "best practise" and "the safest thing to do" reguarding showing a pregnant bitch. I dont see how exposing a pregnant bitch to 700 dogs is the best practise OR the safest thing to do, but hey, its up to the owners. Mine stay at home, imo, thats the best practise and the safest thing to do. Hogz
  4. I wont show a pregnant bitch, I would be to worried about them picking something up like a vaginal infection or kennel cough etc etc. specially in the heat of summer etc. To many possibilities. keep her at home and spoil her rotten. Not worth a few points Hogz
  5. The 24th of April, CABOOLTURE KENNEL CLUB CHAMP & OPEN SHOWS........ ;) did some one already say that one Hogz :D
  6. To the CABOOLTURE KENNEL CLUBS APRIL SHOW 24th April Sat. Domt miss it!! :D Hogz
  7. Thanks for that but Apollo wont allow more then 2 dogs even if they stay in the trailer as they have had "problems" with people ignoring their dogs barking at night in the trailers and they have now spoiled it for eveyone else........ otherwise yes they would have been good. Cheers Hogz If you want 'truly' (by Aust. standards anyway as our dog-friendly is so crap compared to OS) dog friendly and not just 'dogs allowed in car' type accommodation, the closest I can think of would be the caravan park at Craigieburn/Somerton - Apollo Gardens. They have a website so you can google them. Would be about a 15 to 20 minute drive from there. Most of the stuff around the airport wouldn't be too dog friendly I would imagine. In the other direction you have Sunbury but not sure what's there at all. There is a small motel at Bulla but don't know anything about them either.
  8. Hi Everyone I am trying to find some dog or dog trailer friendly accomodation near the Bulla Canine Centre in Vic. Where does everyone stay?? Cheers Hogz

  11. If you love him and are not intending to breed him and are aware he has a problem and are not been charged for him(as you shouldn't be), and are willing to give him a good home for as long as he needs one , Go for it ! everyone needs a home and love. Hogz
  12. :p 2 ticks, coccida and a hernia??? Return to sender! cash refund ! Reputable............... Hogz
  13. Im quite suprised how common this is, I have also had this problem previously and tried various ideas without any success, including fostering by another bitch,to no avail, at the time my concern was canine herpes, but this was not the case, my other thoughts were these "wooden moments" may have been cramping, low salt, etc. the strongest, largest pup was the first to go, with the smaller pups lasting longer, the last lasting two weeks, this was the one that was fostered by another bitch. When the pups were born to a maiden older bitch she was constantly licking them, at first I thought it was because she was being a over excited new mum, but then I was picking up vibes that she new something was amiss and was starting to stress. This was before any signs of abnormality in the litter. After reading all the previous posts, I am wondering if Peritonites/Ecoli/bateria, theory may be an issue and the bitch could sense/smell this, and this was the reason for the constant licking of the pups, trying to clean them. I would be very interested to hear if constant licking was involved in these other cases. An exellent tread and very derserving of the bump Lilli, may need to be transfered to breeding though I am also wondering if anything NEW has come to light reguarding this problem. Hogz
  14. Hope it works out for you, I'll be putting in a good word for him. Hogz
  15. he may stop after a while if he gets board with chaseing them, get him a rat (stuffed) to play with and every time he chases the cats , distract him with the rat. Hogz
  16. how old is he? most young pups will be a bit shy at times, when he does this what do you do? best is to be patient and wait a bit before you grab him/her, try useing treats to encourage him out rather than going under the table and getting him, make it so he wants to come to you and when he does, lots of soft spoken praise and a treat, small but yummy. Hogz
  17. you will probably find he is just not concerned with what he is doing as there may be more important things going on around him then waiting to finish, try watching him when he is relaxed with out him seeing you see if he still walks off before he finishes. doing it where ever he is is toilet training, my 5mth has taken to doing it on the patio......then I realised it was the only dry spot in the yard as everything is wet. Dogs dont like to pee near water. Hogz
  18. Same as Hesa, I would also remove the free range nibblies(dry food)...fat fat like the neighbours cat! Hogz
  19. you will find it is the antibiotics/hormones in some chickens, as long as the ducks dont have it fed/injected then there shouldnt be a problem, I always boil my chicken mince first and let it cool then add the extras before giving it to the dogs . Hogz
  20. Use the above mentioned, my old wives tale is to add carrot to the dogs diet, dont ask me why it works, it just does. Hogz
  21. I had the same problem, I found that for some reason it was when the meat was really "fresh" of all things, we have home kills and the dogs wont touch meat fresh from the beast for some reason, what I do is put it out in an airer for the day and give it to them in the afternoon, they will then eat it like they are starving, but fresh they wont touch it, or they will go and bury it and get it later when it stinks. I dont know why Hogz
  22. Ok, just as long as he was wormed, NOW you can start looking at other issues, I would be going on a chicken broth stew rather than just kibble, when your sick or not felling well you dont always feel like a big fried/bake meal of batter/wheat, but a nice chicken and veggie soup......yum! but best to follow your vets advise. Hogz
  23. Hi KIJ, I havnt seen in your posts that you have wormed this pup, did I miss it? I saw Deb mention it also. I saw in your earlier posts that he was due, I would have gone for the wormer 1st even before worrying about his diet( when in doubt 1st worm them out!) due dates dont mean much to worms unless you go over them. I would have thought your vet would have done this...did he do a test on his stools for worm eggs? Its no good filling them with scourban or the like if there is an underlying cause to the problem. Also the time factor that this pup has had dia. you will need to rehydrate him with some good minerals. let us know how he gets on. My dogs and pups get a different meal nearly every day, no one likes the same thing day in day out. so dont be scared to try something else, as long as its fresh and well balanced it will be fine IMO. dogs are natural scavengers they cant get a cow minced at 5pm every day. Try natural its not that hard to prepare. even to keep your Bonnie kibble as a filler(which is what they are) . Hogz
  24. Just wanted to say thank you on behalf of the bitch and the pups, well done. :D :D ;) :D Shayne
