  1. oh great, was about to buy some but holding it off. Two of my colleagues are feeding royal canin and we can compare notes.
  2. There are lots of people with related commercial interests here, several just on this thread alone and this health forum especially, it's common, everybody gotta earn a living and competition is fierce, readers just have to be careful what we read and make our own decisions.
  3. Yes I feed pork too, the bones, ears, mince. Whatever meat ingredients I cook for dinner, they get a little bit.
  4. I have good experience with NUTRIENCE (www.nutrience.com/australia), the poo is small (2 a day)and very little smell, coat is shiny too. Nutrience is actually quite rich, with loads of herbs, so you only have to feed small amounts. Now one bag last me almost 3 months. And the prices are competitive too.
  5. I boiled sausages then chopped them up. Sometimes I made home made cheese treats. You can also bake some yummy cheese bread and chop them up. Or liver bread or sausage bread, anything goes!
  6. Is that the very fishy one? smell a bit like canned anchovies, funny dog goes crazy over fish, I gave mine a bit to taste and she dances, it's so funny to watch.
  7. I always thought most dogs do it? to cool themselves down in hot weather, through the paws. I don't think in mid winter they'd do it so much when water is freaking cold. LOL
  8. Advance seems to have a bit of by-products which some people think is not ok. By-products is not meat, it's the remaining things like skin, fur, innarts etc and hearsay every batch is different in quality so it is supposedly not as good. My breeder has been feeding Advance for many years, seems to do well for hers.
  9. Thank you Vehs. (and yes lab = fur fur and more fur.)
  10. hey thanks, just visited Pookinuk, fancy stuff they have. The food prices are pretty good especially with the 18/20kg but limited choices though.
  11. sorry to hijack this thread but I'm getting confused. What exactly is a hydrobath? Please can somebody forward me a link to some info? I google it and only found loads of businesses.
  12. Unfortunately no Petstock in my area, maybe will visit the Geelong one next time I go there (I love Geelong). How's the prices like for your food? Nutrience is pretty good, since changing so far 1.5months, no fart small stools, shiny coat and good energy level, can't complain.
  13. Jellybean Chick, Maybe you are having one of those like mine. Nobody will believe this, but I haven't heard my dog bark for two and half weeks already. The last time at puppy school three weeks ago, she barked a couple of times, then since home once or twice then she stopped. She make other noises just not barking. Her parents are not barkers, the breeder's dogs are not barkers. So maybe you have one of those. But if in doubt, get some opinion of a vet. edited, can't spell.
  14. Kristie, No don't mistake me, I seriously think Nutro is a good food, I have never doubt it. I have a problem with hard selling of it. It's like a miracle food. If you dog is overweight/underweight/skin problems/low energy/high energy/etc, try Nutro! It's like hello, there are other foods out there? It's like a trend, today is this, tomorrow is ABC brand and you'll see hardcore supporters come out and sing the tune again. Merry christmas. And dogs are dogs there are no miracle foods for EVERYTHING. I've noticed the hardselling here all the time to newbies who are clueless. Of course we share our testimony but if Nutro has a suitable food for every problem, so does other brands, why BAGGED them? And FYI there are a lot of good experiences with other brands like Proplan, Eagle Pack, Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Nutrience, Innova as well, some supporters have spoken here albeit not as aggressive selling. It's disgusting to see Nutro supporters say other brands are rubbish when the whole Nutro Max range and half the Adult Choice range have wheats in it, and so much rice. So Nutro can have a little bad stuff but other brands are rubbish? That's what is not right, it's not Nutro's fault, it is all those ridiculous testimonials that pops up that is the problem. In summary I mean by all means support your good dog food, share your testimonials realistically and don't condemn all other foods on earth. ETA: and Nutro is definitely still on my 'will-try' list, when one day I can find wider availability and so a more competitive price for it.
  15. hey german sheperd, good to hear your friend is fine, keep it up, you're a great dad! And in doubt there'll always be support in DOL anytime, most people are really helpful here.
  16. nah the other brands already covered this, it's called customer unsatisfaction guarantee, it covers everything not only coat, you can return it anytime and get a refund, don't really have to throw. The skin thing by nutro is just marketing and IMO too much of it.
  17. Doesn't most of Nutro have wheat ingredients in it? I thought wheat is a known cause for a lot of allergy. I'm sure it will be obvious enough if any food shows skin improvements, there's no need for a guarantee for that. If any food is not good, it'll be thrown out straight, who will continue to feed a dog some food if there is no visible improvement with or without a paper guarantee? It's illogical. I mean I honestly do belief it's a good food but it is on par with many foods as well, they are all good. For every super premium brand like those I mentioned, there will be hundreds or thousands of testimonies from pet dogs to show dogs who eat it and fair well in it, otherwise they wouldn't be in business for so long. It's good that dogs owners have a choice these days. ETA: I mis-read the post and corrected some typo
  18. Sasroc is your dog agressive towards you? If not can you 'claimed' his bowl to be YOUR bowl instead? You can feed him by holding on to the bowl or just put hand on side of bowl when he eats, once finished, you said it's done and remove it straight away. Warning, only do this if you are sure he is not agressive, some aggressive dogs will bite. Do at own risk.
  19. yeah, SM what if one day you really got a great gal who knows about dogs and need her to show you around your best friend's mans parts, that'll be embarrassing. ;)
  20. If anyone followed samoyedman's topics close enough they should know his style, he's a cheeky person (so I gather) RELAX.
  21. They are different brands but both are on the Super Premium range together with Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Innova, Proplan etc. Prices varies depends on where you buy it from. They all have Money back guarantee if you are not satisfied and Brand Loyalty program aka buy 9 get 1 free from the manufacturer.
  22. if I may ask how do you bathe him then? Sure you wash his under regions cleanly? ETA: sorry for off topic, can't resist.
  23. The toilet cue words should really help. I use Wee wee and Poo Poo. In the first few weeks from 8wk, whenever we play in the yard and pup did a wee, I kept saying 'wee wee, wee wee'. Same with Poo, I said it during the action, once finish, pup gets her favorite treat and a huge happy praise from me. It took about 3 weeks for her to totally linked the words. I dont' scold or stare at her when she made any mistakes indoors, just cleaned it up quietly. Once pup gets the command, you can bring him to backyard at regular times (read footnote), get his attention and say the word repeatedly, he should get the message. footnote: if you feed at regular times, keep a diary of his poo, it is always predictable. Depends on dogs, the food pass through their system from 12hours to 18hours, + - 15mins etc. My pup is about 12-14hours, thus breakfast will pass after dinner time at night and dinner pass after breakie time in morning. *sorry a bit gross here* ETA: can't spell.
