  1. I have just returned from my second block course on Saturday (doing distance) and loved every minute of it. It is a lot of work but would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I have 3 dogs of my own and work full time for rescue. I found it beneficial in both areas. AND of course I got to meet and train with the lovely Lord Midol. What a legend!
  2. I did one of your workshops. It was really informative and on the strength of what I learnt, I now occaisionally use head collars on some of the dogs at work. Not many, but just some of the dogs that may not otherwise be able to get walked by some people without one.
  3. Yes... Im a good guesser I tried to get my dog to put someting in a bucket and bring it back to me, but was having trouble with it - so i went for 2 B's. Much easier!!! Good luck lol....thanx. I am panicking at the moment cos I just cant work it out. You would think with 3 dogs I could get at least one to complete a complex skill!
  4. She is motivated by toys more than treats (have tried treats on her nose). I started using a soft little teddy. Now she will balance anything. She LOVES pieces of rope, have tried them also. Still no good.
  5. First of all I taught her to catch the object ( used a soft little teddy). Then started balancing it on her nose.
  6. I am trying to teach my dog to balance an object on her nose and then flick and catch it. The problem is.... when she has an object on her nose she just freezes. She does not even blink! She will sit there for as long as I want her to and not move. I can flick the ball / object myself and she will catch it. She will flick her head on command, and is happy to do so (as long as there is nothing on her nose). I have tried luring, guiding, always making it fun. Please , please any ideas?
  7. Is anyone else going to be doing the block training from Sat 14 for the NDTF course? (Melbourne) (edited cos I got the date wrong.)
  8. I walk my 3 dogs on seperate leads, all on my left side. They walk really well together and all know their place. I used to practice at home so they got used to it. Then I started taking them for short walks and gradually increased the distance as we got better. I have found the biggest thing is to remain calm with them, not to get stressed when something goes wrong. I gotta say it is sooooo cool taking all 3 dogs out together. Hang in there, keep working at it as the end result is really worth it.
  9. Logan All Breeds does not encourage or tolerate rough handling of any dogs. Maybe the instructors did not see what was going on? It was during classes and the Instructors unless they are deaf couldnt of not noticed it.. When I go to training, I do not really pay much attention to what other classes and people are doing. Last night I made a POINT of looking around at others more. I have to say....I am feeling a bit shattered. There was a bloke there and yes...he was being really quite hard on his dog and NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. I love Logan All Breeds club, the people I train with and the results I get with my mutts. I plan on going to the next club meeting and bringing this matter up.

  11. They do an intake once a month. You need to attend an orientation night (free). You can train both nights if you want or only one. Phone numbers....(07) 32902718 0415611121
  12. Logan All Breeds Dog club, Kingston. $12.00 per year membership. $4.00 per night training. Run classes Monday and Friday nights.
  13. V.I.P dog club at Yatala do clicker training.
  14. I regularly attend a dog club with my girl Tank. I go (usually) once a week. I started going because I was really struggling to train this dog. It was the best thing I could ever have done for both of us. I desperately want to do trialling with her and (fingers crossed) think we will get there. I have another young dog that I am going to start at this club in about 3 weeks time (different night to my other dog). I cant wait! I love going!
  15. I have a 12 week old puppy that I have hand reared from 3 weeks old. She went thru a phase of growling all the time when she was about 4 weeks old. (we ignored it) It only lasted about a week. I assumed she did it because it was something she had just learnt to do. It was the same as when she first realised she could bark....she barked flat out for a few days, then it settled down.
  16. One of my dogs is a very shy/timid dog. Now over 2 years old. She was socialized as a pup. She comes everywhere with me. We are around people and dogs alot of the time. There is no reason for her to be like she is so I put it down to genetics.
