  1. sorry didnt want to start my own thread but i remembered this topic was a good one.

I had an incident at the local school tonight where i had a nuisance puppy (like a young boxer X) annoying my dog on a few occasions. The dog was all friendly and bouncy. And my young bitch just wanted nothing to do with him. There was a couple with the dog. The woman just ignored me and the two of them proceeded to call their dog about 20 times and it just ignored them. I asked the bloke to call his dog away and told him his dog was too big to play with my dog, and he got all defensive and said its ok he wont hurt her. Well my bitch was getting really antsy with this unwanted attention and told this other dog off, and this other dog was about to react i think, so i grabbed the dog by the harness and lead the dog to his owner. And i left after that because i had had enough anyway. I dont think i could have said anything to change this guys free-for-all attitude.

So i was just wondering how far you guys would go to protect your dog, without seeming like your over-reacting?

  2. I have a friend who is 3 months pregnant with twins. She is also looking to get another dog as her last dog died last year. She would like to get a Dane or similar giant breed as she has had these dogs before. She would like to get 2 puppies of similar age (not necessraily siblings) so they can have each other to play with. And ideally she would like to get the pups sooner rather than later so she can get them settled in, begin training etc before the twins arrive.

I have said to her it does sound like a lot of work etc etc but she is stubborn and determined to do this. So I was just wondering what steps you would take if you were in a similar situation to make sure things went smoothly with 2 young pups and expecting babies around the same time?

  3. Back on the topic of the thread.. good to see the new laws are working out so well for Victoria. Who'd have thought a registration tag wouldn't stop a dog from biting, though..

Yeah great to see how the new laws have reduced dog attacks in Victoria ;) What a waste of money!

I didnt realize how anti-bullbreed those Victorians have become. Who would want to live in Victoria and own a non-papered Amstaff or similar dog now?

  4. It is a real pity that the general public are uninformed about breeds of dog, poorly trained/contained dogs due to poor owners etc , the comments on the herald sun some of them are just shocking lumping everyone who owns a dog in the same boat

Im afraid its going to get worse for Victorians if this type of thing keeps happening :(

The way the herald sun has been breed bashing this year is disgusting. And im ashamed to be Victorian with all the ignorant comments on the Herald Sun site, although im sure they dont publish half of the one's criticising BSL. Interesting that the Moreton Bay Council story seemed to be a lot more balanced with the comments.

  5. That is clearly a BT x and already a PB has been blamed for it, this is friggin ridiculous. Damage is done now, another toddler attacked by a "pitbull" what a load of crap.

where is the picture? they seemed to have taken it down??

  6. Sard wonder soap is fantastic for removing stains on white fur. I use it every time I was my dogs' white feet and they come up very nicely.

Check thoroughly for any skin irritation or infection before you use it in case it somehow aggravates it.

ah so do you use the bar soap version? how do you apply it?

if she's licking - there is a reason...

usually an irritation of some sort - stress/allergy/pain ....

removing the stain obviously doesn't stop the cause , so it seems time for some detective work ;)

You see i dont see her licking much at all, so im at pains to work why the stains are developing. Maybe its a reaction to an allergy to grass seeds or something. But you would think there would be some irritation on the rest of her body but there isnt. My other dog is on the same diet and everything and he licks himself about twice as much, and he never gets any discolouration of his white hair.

  7. my bitch has white feet. She has had these brown stains on her feet for about 6 months and they have slowly been getting more prominent and entrenched it seems. Im 90% sure its from licking her feet. She is not an excessive licker either. I was thinking it must be something in her saliva. My other dog licks himself even more but his feet are still white. Ive tried scrubbing her feet with whitening shampoo which didnt work. I started feeding her ACV and that didnt do much, if anything it stopped it getting worse. Someone was suggesting i try Maloseb, im not sure as she doesnt seems to have any skin condition. Any advice on what i could try?

    Thanks
