My pup had 6 week and 10 week shots only, and he will have a booster at 12 months, then 3 yearly after that unless I decide to titre test them.
When only giving two vax, you need to have a particular vax (so I was told by the vet). So if your pup has already had 2 vax without discussion with the vet about not doing anymore, I would say you will need the third booster. Talk to your vet first before you decide anything anyway.
well she had the nobivac DHP + the canine cough which ive read is a vaccine you only need to give once at 10 weeks. Would like to titre test actually would be interesting to see the results.

Mirawee what fish do you guys have? Do you breed them?
We have Silver Perch. They are bought as fingerlings then grown to about 600-1000g before being sold. And of course it is the big fish that don't cope with his weather!
I think I will take a change of clothes to training tonight and invite myself to OzJen's afterwards or I have access to showers at work Although they are hoping to have power back up late tonight. Thanks for the offer though.
cool i love native fish. Who do you sell them too?
Can I come fishing at your place

Hey GR what did you do puppy wise with your vaccs? Say ive had the 8 week and 12 weeks ones, I was thinking about getting a third one done because of the parvo this year but maybe just the parvo only one? do most vets do these?

hi guys, does anyone know what day of the western classic group 1 is on?
-
She should have a playdate with my friends chi, would be the perfect size.
yeah maybe, i had planned to do a bit of show training at K9 on thursdays. what nights do you get down there?
ncarter did you decide whether you'll be showing? She is gorgeous - congratulations!! you've been waiting a while
Thanks. Yes the plan is to show. I had been expecting a boy from somewhere else actually but that fell through and then this litter came up and i preferred one of the pups that just happened to be a bitch so i decided i should take her.
-
OMG look at the size of her - so what is her name and do tell us more
Im calling her stella, she is a hound tri with only a small bit of black near her tail, mostly from swedish lines, she came from a breeder in Mudgee, im hoping she grows to a nice size about 3kg would be good. she is only about 1.1/1.2kg at the moment. She is very naughty but im happy that she is outgoing enough and not too intimidated by bigger dogs etc.

ncarter when did you get a puppy, and why havent you posted any photos!!
A place veryone recommends for socialisation is Train a Pup Time - a couple of WA Dolers have gone to her and can't recommend her enough. i am not sure where abouts you are though - it might be too far.
I got her like 9 days ago, she has been keeping me pretty busy. Thanks for the recommendation guys. Here is a photo of her

hi guys,
was anyone affected by the recent fires?
Anyway just popped in to ask, has anyone used clever creatures dog training? am looking for somewhere to take my new pup for basic training and socialisation

He's a (extreme) pied Frenchie
And yeah, the boys are excited. Well, Ollie is. He got to have a cuddle at the breeder's house the other day and has been asking 'Can we go and see Lola's puppy?' ever since Ed is a bit too young to get the whole concept.
He is gorgeous huga, i love frenchies. Hey are those 3 pups all from the same litter? I didnt think you would normally get that much variety of colours in the same litter?
Just thought i'd join in this thread as I have a papillon puppy bitch coming over on saturday from Sydney and im so excited
-
so apbt breeders in ACT and NT, when they want new lines, are they forced to import from NZ under the alias that the pup is a stafford or amstaff?
-
the worst thing about it was the omission of the crate training. A bit difficult raising a pup without a crate and not expecting the pup to chew everything and piss everywhere especially with no outdoor area for the dog. I thought the mother and the two kids were way out of their depth with the GSD, poor old cat as well.
One of Charlie's dogs is a scottish terrier X, not a westie I believe

When i hear the term Staffie i think of brindle or tan/ red mutts. When i hear the term English Staffie i think of Bogans .
haha me too
-
I think the story is pretty slanted. The story i heard was that the boy ran up to the dog, giving it a fright and tried to pat it. Not an excuse for injuries that severe but its not surprising he got bitten really.
-
did anyone see the add in the qoakka for the 12 pit bull X's for $1200 each. I thought this was particularly disgusting as not many people want to comply with all the breed restrictions and just the price was so unrealistic. So they probably wont sell them all.

It's more complicated then just linebreeding versus outcrossing.
You have identified the traits you want, do they exist in the bitches lines? If no, then there is no reason to try and line breed to it.
If yes, where is it and why is it there (where did that dog inherit it from). That might be what you would want to "linebreed" to.
You have to try to find a stud that has those traits, who's pedigree has that trait otherwise you won't get what you are looking for.
My dogs have low COI % in both my breeds. I outcross to lines that have what I need but aren't that dissimilar in style to my own dogs. When I can say "That dog is so reminicent of my dog X but has a better Y" then I tend to use it
I breed similar phenotypes that are not neccessarily related and get quite good predictability in my litters. And I'm happy with the results.
so do you only try to improve one or two things at a time in your breedings?
How often do you do an outcross?
-
i dont spose anyone who lives in the eastern states and is coming over to perth in the next few months would want to buy me one and bring it over and i will re-imburse you?
-
Damn why did our Harris Scarfe close down
i hate being 15 years behind the rest of the country in terms of shops, nearest store to me is Whyalla

Hi Guys,
Just trying to understand a few things when it comes to breeding and would like to know how you breeders think when you consider matings. If you could give me some examples of what you have done in your own breeding program that would be great.
Say you have a bitch right. She is quite nice in terms of conformation etc, but you want to breed something with more flashiness (like a better coat, better ears, more drive) basically things that would stand out in the ring. Is it riskier to breed to a totally unrelated dog, compared to say a dog which would produce a COI in the offspring of say 0-3%? So im really wondering about degrees of outcrossing here.
Do you only line-breed when you are happy with what you already have in the bitch? If you dont have the right conformation and movement in the bitch can you still acheive significant improvements by line-breeding?
-
I go to south st vet in O'Connor, it is quite cheap. I see Dr. Page she is really nice and seems to know her stuff
-
cheers for that guys. ST i think the breeder thinks its a good idea for me to get some practice and i might have the option of buying the dog at the end. But she still controls what happens with the dog.
-
Hi guys,
is the houndstooth lady on DOL? whats she like on prices?
questions for dogs west people. Thought you guys might know, if I want to lease a showdog right, under the ordinary single membership it only mentions people who own or co-own a dog registered with any of the ANKC. Anyway im still waiting for dogs west to get back to me on that one.

Some of the stuff on the show is pretty bad and I agree they put entertainment before common sense. Actually i saw something worse on that show keeping up with the jones'. The redneck bloke ran over a snake a couple of times in his harvester. The snake was clearly f***ed! But instead of just shooting it they kept it overnight on concrete in some kind of cattle yard. So they basically just let the snake be in pain for hours so they could have a story for their show.

I have stayed here http://www.thelittlehouse.com.au/
I think there are a few different cottages on the block but the one we stayed at wasnt as nice as in the photos. Is was pretty good for what we were after though, close to everything, a really nice setting. I could lock the dog inside when we went out (i would trust the fences they were old). They had a chook pen near the house though so that could be a pain if your dogs like chickens. I dont think they would accept more than 2 dogs as well.
eta - sorry didnt realise you were camping
