Grand Champions & (new Title) Supreme Champions
SwaY replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
I just hope the owners of dogs who are eligable for the Supreme Champion, don't bring out retired dogs just to get the final CC, if they are not in top shape. -
Buy more, it's much cheaper then the headache you will get, trying to get it all out.

Thank you, it was a horrible end to 5 days of searching.

I like the new "Grand" and "Supreme Grand", not so keen on removing the 25 points after 12 months of age. -
Grand Champions & (new Title) Supreme Champions

I'm sure 1st July will see many retired dogs come out to get a CC to qualify for "Supreme" ... The exact same thing happened when the "Grand" was first introduced. Yep it will happen, I know a few who are already talking about doing it. -
The moved the address up to the top to meet Australia Post requirements when addressing letters the postal address used to be at the bottom. ETA the window that the address was shown through was at the bottom of the envelopes. They could have solved the problem by using a label on the envelope instead of changing the lay out of the papers.

Baby wipes are a must have as well.

I do sell them now, however I sell more of the nasal aspirators - I would rather people buy the better product IYKWIM Having used it I swear by them, so much better then a nasal aspirator. Oh and no chance of you inhaling the 'snot' unless you suck up 10mls+ plus Empty, rinse and use again.

Good video showing a dog bloating - the dog is fine. Youtube

If you were building I would also suggest an area outside that room for confined toilet breaks etc. - Also handy for bitches in season. The door of our room has two baby gates, one the normal way and another one on top, upside down so you can walk through it. This way no one can jump the baby gate and get in, yet the other dogs can look at watch. I also have a curtain across the door on the inside to block out the view of the dogs, the new mum doesn't have to worry about others watching them, then. Would also help to keep a room warm/cool etc.

It's like a childs snot sucker However they have a more tapered end and are a hospital grade. I tried to get pics of me using it on a puppy bit akward to do on your own. I got the idea to use one from Myra Savant-Harris as she has a bit in one of her books about them. Read Here The thicker tube with the white end you suck on, the thinner tube is inserted into the puppies mouth etc. This creates a continual suction (well as long as you can suck ) Because the tube is thin and flexible you can get right to the back of the mouth, under the tongue etc.

I'm glad Cindy is home safe and sound.

Dogs Victoria - Photo Id Now Required For Membership Renewals
SwaY replied to wayrod's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's easy to join DogsVIc with a made up name and a new po box, it's not as easy to copy someone's licence to join up. I don't see the big deal, but I can see how others would. -

You would have to submit all information in her legal name, and not what she wants to be known as. Is it even legal to join/register/sign up to anything with a name that is not your legal name? -
Always keep a product with simethicone on hand (Degas) I think there maybe other products on the market that contain it as well? Bloat is life and death, know the signs and don't mess around with it.
-
There is no 100% reason as to what causes bloat, some say it can be caused by.. Some say raised food bowls, others say eating at ground level. Some stay stressed and nervous dogs, others say dogs that are male, some say dry food, others say a dog that runs around before or after it's eaten. They there are ones who say it runs in lines, after a dog has had a mating, heat, kennel and the list goes on... They has been a few survey's yet no solid proof of anything, the reason for bloat seems to change every few years.
-
I have questioned the dosage weight, the packet says 1-2 per for an Adult. Many adults weight more then most of the dogs that bloat, 1 per 10kg seems excessive. 70kg Dane would need 7 tablets, yet a human of the same weight would only need 1-2 tablets. Also remember is the stomach has twisted you can not get tablets down nor tube them.
-
Actually.. Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus ("GDV"), commonly called Bloat which can Gastric Dilatation - Bloating we see is the stomach filling full of gas/foam/liquid. Volvulus - It is the twisting that kills. Bloat can occur with or without "volvulus" (twisting)

I hope they can find a bitch for the puppies, RIP mummy dog.
