  1. Oh geez Snook I am really sorry to read that hope you are both ok.
  2. Snook it's so great to read some positive updates about Justice. You must feel much better that he is doing well :)
  3. Haha, I had someone email me from the US asking to book a lesson obviously not realizing we were in Australia. We have had clients come from WA, VIC, QLD etc and even NZ to see Steve. But coming from the US is quite a trip
  4. I had three for years and have to say having two is definitely easier. I am pondering adding a pup but I think I might way another year or so, it is very peaceful at the moment (most of the time) I have no concerns about adding a third aside from the extra time and work it will take to raise a pup.
  5. That's exactly what I meant, thanks BB, glad someone gets where I am coming from
  6. Then what are you implying that I somehow care for her less because I didn't mention her in a random post I honestly don't understand the problem? It's an Internet forum, not real life. (Though I don't do everything with both of my dogs in real life either). Mentioning something I love about one of my dogs doesn't mean I have nothing to say about the other. It's just a post for fun. No need to read anything into it.
  7. Yes of course! Daisy is the best beagle in the world :) I love her with all of my heart as well, but it's a different bond than I have with Wiz. She's my heart dog. Oh ok. The question was asked about one thing you love about your dog and Daisy didn't rate a mention, sorry I find that sad. She was there way before your current dog yet there was nothing you could say about her It wasn't on purpose, I was in a rush and posted quickly the first thing I thought of and a picture I had on hand. I have a million things to say about daisy. It's just a fun thread. To be honest I am a bit insulted you could question how much I love or care for my dog based on something as silly as this. Daisy is cuddling in next to me right now, I better wake her up tell her how unloved and neglected she is because I didn't mention her in an off handed post in a silly thread.

  9. OT but Willow looks AWESOME in her harness!! She LOVES it too. First time on and she paraded around pleased as punch, took a while before she would come close enough for us to take it off her. We have a picture of her doing a hold and bark at her toy sitting on a post, it's one of my favourites. :D Oh you must share it!
  10. She is the best dog in the whole world I really couldn't list just one thing! There is nothing she can't do, but one of my favourite things is the way she will be so loving and sweet and chill out with me happily but as soon as I switch her on, she is a machine and works as hard as she can at whatever I ask her to do.
  11. Hi, I have a couple of destroyers too, staffies - you gotta love them. The goughnuts look great, can you tell me where to buy them in Australia please. Thanks in advance. Hi Lee, we sell them on our website; http://www.k9pro.com.au/online-store/dog-toys/indestructable/
  12. I would go with the large/maxi original Goughnut in that case. It's the biggest toughest one :)
  13. Bugger I threw out my ball after the Am Staff chewed it through to the red, I should remember to remember which ones have guarentees. She also ate two Hurley's! Lol our Hurley got eaten by the ride on mower and is still going strong!
  14. I understand why most brands won't replace toys. Goughnuts are super heavy duty and tough but some dogs won't like them unless they really enjoy chewing big plain toys. Toys that are more exciting for dogs to engage them usually aren't as heavy duty. Determined dogs will destroy anything so it could send many places out of business to replace toys over and over. So for extreme chewers I always recommend Goughnuts first as they will replace the toys forever if they are chewed. I've only had two or three sent back for replacement ever. For other dogs that aren't as hardcore I recommend Holee Molee Extemes, ultra balls, West paw stuff like jives and Hurleys, dura foam balls, cagey cubes etc. these toys are still extremely durable but a bit more fun and interactive. ETA: grinz balls and jolly/scrambler eggs are great too
  15. Definitely Goughnuts, they are tough but also replace toys for life if they are chewed through to the red warning layer.
  16. IMO there is no question dominance exists in dogs, but truly dominant dogs are quite rare and the word is used too frequently and IMO incorrectly to describe behaviour that usually has nothing to do with dominance.
  17. If he was crate trained he would be relaxed in there any time, not just when there's nothing exciting going on. Are there other times he gets excited (ie dinner time, if you train your other dog etc)? So I play crate games with him which he loves, I reward him when he is being quiet and relaxed, what am I missing to get him to the point where he doesn't escalate? and yes he does get excited around meal times and especially when I'm training Sarah, although definitely not to the same point as a new person in the house, it's more pawing at the door and whining It's like anything we train, you've taught him what the crate is and to relax in there but now you need to train and proof it by asking him to do for longer, at different times and around distraction. If he finds those things exciting but not as exciting as someone coming to the house that's a great place to start training him to relax in the crate at times he gets excited.

  19. Is he crate trained? I would look at training him to behave appropriately before drugging him.
  20. Do the dogs know they are being punished for something they did a few nights ago? It's not about punishment at all, it's about making sure they adjust to sleeping in their crates again.
  21. I have my dogs on the bed too but I have very strict rules. It is still my bed and if they muck around they are out. If I put them in their crates to sleep and they whinge or don't settle right away because they want to come to bed with me I don't let them on the bed again for a few nights. When I let them sleep on my bed I expect them to get up there and stay there until I get up the next morning. It's definitely a privilege I give them but definitely doesn't make them dominant over me, lol.
  22. I don't think a dog should never react to something stressful or frightening (they aren't robots), but the concern is whether the behaviour will become worse, more habitual and become something you can't control.
