Does that means its good for mad Whippets racing each other at top speed (just missing trees) running into one another and running until exhaustion??? :) LOL I am sure the Whippets would do well on it as they are so active! If the dog isn't active enough they can gain weight on SF, but you also don't have to feed it daily, you could just feed it after a big work out/ training session.
-
Yep absolutely! :) Both are designed to supplement nutrition, but Showstopper is primarily designed to keep the dogs coat looking awesome. Super Fuel is designed for very active/working dogs as a dog performance supplement, it is made to support muscle tissue, fuel energy, support joint health and immunity, endurance and aid in recovery. Showstopper is great for show dogs and pet dogs, Super Fuel is better for working/sport/high energy dogs. Both can be fed in daily meals, but Super Fuel can also be given mixed in water after the dog has done a lot of work/training/exercise etc.

I think it's a little different when you're right under the nose of a dog trainer  I get no more guidance with Wiz than our clients do with their dogs or our potential puppy buyers will get with their pups. People would be shocked at how little time we have to spend training our own dogs. I would be lucky to spend half an hour a month with Steve training Wiz if that, I should start paying for lessons then we will actually spare up some time! At the end of the day all of that makes no difference if you don't have the right attitude or willingness to learn and commit to raising the dog the right way ETA: I don't think mals are for everyone (far from it) but I don't agree you need to be a pro trainer to do well handling one either. I think ruling out anyone other than professional trainers or super experienced handlers could rule out some great owners.

I don't think you need to be a super experienced handler to be the right handler for a Mal. I've seen experienced handlers struggle horribly with Mals. They aren't for the average owner but I don't think having another working line breed needs to be a pre requisite for owning a Mal nor does it guarentee you will make an ideal owner. Before I had Wisdom I had only ever handled a beagle and I do alright :) more than experience IMO you need the right guidance and attitude.

It's back in stock now :)

Sorry I didn't mean that in a snarky way, just saying that sometimes it can be easy to read into or stress over behaviour especially for new puppy owners! It can be confusing with so much info out there. -

That's exactly what it looked like to me, she's so cat like! She could also just be being affectionate. I wouldn't read into it too much from what you've described. I encourage my dogs not to have any resistance coming into my personal space, so they will lean on me, jump on me etc. -
Anyone Boarded At Doggy Farm Stay Middle Dural?

The dog died, I would say that's a bit more than a "bingle". -
I think it's down to personal choice, some people always feed supplements and feel strongly about it and other people don't do it, you either see the benefit in it or you don't, it really is down to whether you feel the dogs are benefiting from it. With the other Animal Naturals supplements (Showstopper and Super Fuel and Young at Heart) we have seen visible and very obvious benefits from feeding them, so naturally we feel it is worthwhile. We feed Puppy Gold (and we will wean our pups onto it) because we feel it helps boost their immune systems and we want to make sure we are doing everything we can to make sure our pregnant bitch is staying healthy and to help her body recover properly. On a side note a few breeders I've spoken to have split tested their litters on PG and have noticed a considerable difference between the pups weaned onto PG and those that weren't.

Zara is very cute! I was lucky enough to run into CC and Zara at KCC the other day! :)

Hi Yonjuro I mix it into raw meat/mince. There is a feeding guide on the tub that will tell you how much to feed. I haven't personally had any problems with dogs not eating it, but I do mix it into raw meat. As our bitch is in whelp at the moment we mix a scoop with water and raw eggs together for her in the morning, she loves it and laps it up. It doesn't look particularly delightful  but it's really good for her and she really enjoys it! We have raised three dogs on PG at work, with great results. It won't accelerate growth, it just gives them essential nutrients.

Ha ha yes they are quite something else! He is a pretty cool dog. We are really excited to see what this litter produces. Thanks for your comments we will be sure to post a lot of updates. :)

I'm not just worried about the pants, but the potential blood loss  Here's another one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEgMHDnruy8&feature=youtu.be

It's not unlike the way a racing car is easy to crash if you don't know what you're doing

They are definitely not for the average owner, but having said that our Mals live in the home, play with the kids, Wiz sleeps on my bed (often next to my cat) etc. They require a lot more management than the average dog, but can have really good off switches too.
-
I know! I have already had to reconsider which pants I will wear to work every day, I don't want my good ones getting holes in them
-
I've seen that one! We have some pretty cool things for our puppies to play with/on already. It's rather exciting! I still remember the first time I saw a Mal litter,

Looks like a typical Mal litter! Can't wait till our babies arrived in a couple of weeks

Hey HO I have a fair bit of dog food in my freezer and I defrost a couple of days worth and leave it in the fridge. There isn't anything I really 'cook', I just portion it out as I am feeding them and add supplements or whatever I want to it. Because I feed Daisy a 'complete' meal over the course of the week it is easy to feed her, I will give her a turkey wing one night; a piece of lamb or beef brisket the next night; meat and sardines/raw egg etc the following and so on over the course of the week. -

Yes definitely - It's recommended to feed it to pups up until around 6 months, then I would change over to another supp like Showstopper or Super Fuel depending on what your needs are. I swapped Wiz from Super Fuel to Puppy Gold since around her season (prior to being mated) and she will stay on it until the pups leave. It benefits growing pups and bitches in whelp/with pups. -

We go by approx 2% of the dogs body weight to start with, so for a 30kg dog I would feed about 600g of raw for the day and go from there. If you know your Whippet x tends to have a faster metabolism (i.e. you need to feed her more than the recommended amount of dried food for her body weight) I would start her off on a bit more. -

I just go by their weight and how they are looking. If they are putting on a bit much I reduce the quantities. Wisdom eats about 1.5kg of raw a day, so I can feed a 'complete' meal each day. Daisy eats less than a third of that so I feed a complete meal over the course of the week. So for D one day I might feed her a turkey wing, the next day some meat/sardines/egg, the next day a piece of brisket etc. -

Both our Mals were raised exclusively on raw from day one and the babies will be weaned onto a raw diet. Daisy was a bit older (around 1 I think) when I changed her exclusively to raw. -

I don't find it hard at all but it can be a bit more time consuming. If you are worried about getting it wrong, you can buy pre made BARF patties but honestly I think a lot of the way dried food is marketed to us makes us believe getting our dogs diet right is difficult or something you need to be a scientist to do. It really doesn't have to be that way. There are a lot of good supplements available now as well that work really well alongside raw feeding and help you feel you are getting the balance right. I know a few people who use VAN, I use Animal Naturals (so for a pup would feed Puppy Gold) but there are a few options out there. I started out feeding a BARF style diet but a few years ago moved towards prey model and that's more in line with what I feed now (80/20 meat to bones and other things like raw egg, sardines, offal, supps etc). It is definitely worth looking in to and once you get the hang of it it's so easy. Like I said it is a little bit more time consuming than dumping dried in a bowl, but especially in NSW we have so many great places to buy raw here.
