  1. Hey guys, thanks for all of your feedback, it is so great to hear you enjoyed the weekend We got back late last night, totally buggered but both Steve and I had a great time (probably me a little more than Steve considering he was quite sick on the weekend!) It was so great to meet you all
  2. Just lurking in this thread, and thought I would make it more confusing by suggesting you look at a raw diet I started feeding raw about 5/6 years ago and the difference in their poo was one of the first things I noticed (say this to a non-dog person and you sound like a right weirdo  ). Loving everyone's baby puppy pics, I will have to post some of ours when they arrive :D
  3. What's the purpose of a tight line breeding 2-2 on Hassan in the pending litter Huski......just interested? "Santo", there is no point in answering any of your posts when they are always filled ulterior motives.
  4. I would be really concerned about a breeder who didn't do this! They should be assigning the most appropriate puppies to the most appropriate homes. A good breeder should be very upfront with buyers about what they want in a puppy and what they have that would be suitable.
  5. I would want the final decision but I would also ask the breeders opinion. I wouldn't buy a puppy without temp testing the litter first, but I understand why buyers do if they really trust the breeder's opinion or if someone who they trust temp tests the litter for them. I wouldn't buy from a breeder who assigned pups to homes before or just after they were born. Wisdom is due to whelp a litter just before Christmas and even though we have a lot of interest and some people have been waiting for a pup for over 12 months, no one will be guaranteed or sold a puppy until they are several weeks old and have been temp assessed.
  6. I heard awesome things about that dog! Really looking forward to seeing him in action on the weekend :) One more sleep for me :)
  7. Hey OSS, you can definitely give it daily. If the dog isn't active enough though it can put excess weight on them.
  8. I would definitely look at a flirt pole to speed him up and build some more drive. Every dog enjoys different things about playing tug. Some dogs prefer the chase element, some dogs really want to thrash around on the toy. I think you'd get more drive from him if you make the tug game shorter and build more excitement in the chase. Be careful not to play too long, even a 30 second game where he is left wanting more is good, you want to build his drive and desire for the game, before adding duration.
  9. The puppy prey toy is really popular! If you could video one of your sessions with him and post it here, you might find posters are able to give you better tips on the game you are playing. Does he like playing with or chasing balls? What is his food drive like?
  10. Hey HO, what kind of tug or toy are you using? Sometimes if we make the game more exciting and add a bit more frustration that can help get him gripping the tug a bit harder.
  11. You're driving down with a car full of dog stuff to save me having to bring two 20+ kg suitcases full of equipment again :) :)
  12. I don't fly down until Friday afternoon but Steve got there today to start running private consults
  13. I'm throwing EVERYTHING in the car... long lines, harnesses, halties, collars, fixed, limited slip and check chain, food (for me and the dog) LOOSE my voice... I wish.. lol... I'm more concerned I say something totally stupid... and I have a private consult on friday too.... holy cow... I was about to comment saying you have your private consult on Friday, so by the workshop you will be a pro - there's nothing to worry about! :p
  14. I'm excited as it's only my second ever trip to Melbourne! And also the last workshop we are running for the year, so we will have to make it a super good one :)
  15. Hi Silentchild, don't freak out! I am really excited, it should be a great weekend, we have put a lot of planning into this workshop (as we do all of our workshops) and we can't wait to meet everyone and their dogs There are no stupid questions, in fact we will give you all some very good incentives *cough*givingawayfreegear*cough* to ask as many questions, and give as many answers to questions WE ask YOU, as possible! Steve and I always aim to make everyone feel comfortable and have a good time and a good laugh, even if it is at my expense
  16. Hi Paddles! I would suggest bringing whatever leash you usually use for training or trialling. I would also suggest bringing a long line if you have one :) Plus high value food rewards and your dog's favourite toy. ETA: and re which dog, bring whichever one you need the most help with! Only if you work for him...  I promise Steve won't be scary! I am sure you won't, but I will be there and I am the most unco person on the planet, so I am sure I will do something you can laugh at me for! Pretty much every dog works perfectly for Steve! But, he is a professional, so that's what they are supposed to do, and he will show you how to get the same results :) Seeing as I am flying down from Sydney I can't give you much info on the weather
  17. But it's not building confidence for the right behaviour, it is building her confidence that aggression is the way to deal with fear or anxiety, and teaching her that's how to interact with other dogs. Every time we put our dogs in a position where they can act aggressively they are rehearsing the behaviour and it becomes more and more habitual. Giving a dog aggressive dog more opportunity to rehearse aggression and gain success from it isn't the way to successfully modify their behaviour.
  18. I don't think a Mal would suit, and they are on the smaller side with some under 30kg. I would look for a good GSD with solid nerves, I think a GSD is a good option :)
  19. I think it can teach them that to earn a treat they have to comply with your commands not compete with each other, so it could very well have impacted on the resource guarding.
  20. I don't just ask for a stay for dinner but also for eye contact, I think it shows respect that the dog is looking to you for permission to eat.
  21. I saw one the other day that said "Beware of the dog, the cat is shady as f*** also"
