A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
huski replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
She's looking so grown up! I put Wiz in soft hide too it looks so pretty on them :) Wiz would be around 28kg now at 22 months. I didn't find she grew substantially past 8 months, but I am still expecting her to bulk up a bit more even now. ETA: I have a picture of her at 7/8 weeks with Daisy and she was so tiny! So funny to look back on how little they were. -
I would consider adding Super Fuel as a supplement. It's an all natural supp made by the same people who make Show Stopper. We give it to our Mals and many clients dogs to boost performance and recovery among other benefits.

Australasian Police Dog Trials 26oct13 Open To Public
huski replied to j's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm hoping to get there! And not just GSDs but Malinois too! -
There's a bit of backwards heel work etc in the video I uploaded a few weeks ago. Will try and do another one with some more 'freaky' bits

Your inbox must be full as i'm getting a reply to say you can't receive any messages. I've got some dog beds, food, collars, towels and bits and pieces. wondering how to get this to you, depending on where you are? Hi Dogmad Sorry for the confusion, I meant if anyone knows of any families in need in the area we are happy to donate some of our stock to them. I would take donation of items too but I'm not sure where to send them to and I am hesitate to take anything from anyone as we may have to evacuate K9 Pro HQ as well. However PM inbox cleared now :)
-
Thanks Raz. We are ok for now but may have to close the office and evacuate, it will depend on how tomorrow and Wednesday plays out.
-
Fingers crossed that Wednesday isn't going to be as bad as they are predicting. If anyone knows of any families who have lost everything and need any dog related items, PM me and we will donate whatever dog essentials we can.

I agree regarding the chiro. You might also want to consider a supplement like Young at Heart, we have had amazing results with older dogs getting a lot more energy etc once it's added to their diet.

A Foster Puppy Success Story (video)!
huski replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think you'll find that many working line puppies (not that this is one) will display this kind of behaviour, you should know that having a Malinois :p This puppy has been through a behaviour modification program that addresses the fact that it did not learn impulse control from the mother or its litter mates as it was removed early from the litter (for reasons beyond Jen's control obviously). Many puppies that miss these critical developmental lessons will display behaviour similar to this. It doesn't mean the puppy is predisposed to human aggression. I'm not sure what you mean by 'pin and roll', we don't pin dogs or anything like that, and it wasn't a part of the behaviour modification plan Steve put in place for Tonks. -

So should we kill any dog that shows human aggression then, or just puppies? Not sure what alternative you would rather see? Steve has rehabbed thousands of dogs and puppies with HA and we are still waiting for them to "turn" on their owners... -

Love the video Jen, you did a great job with Tonks :) Happy to see her go to her new family but will miss the puppy cuddles when you come to K9 Pro HQ! -
I am not a fan of head collars, but that aside, I don't understand why it needs to be a requirement to use one (I feel the same way for clubs that require owners to use check chains etc). Like Tassie suggested I would speak to the club and ask if it is a strict requirement. Also, what are your goals for training your dog? do you want a well behaved and reliable pet, or do you also want to train with the goal of competing?

Sorry I didn't mean don't use food rewards, I will PM you :)

What a great and busy weekend in Perth! It was so great to meet you all and your dogs, we had an awesome time and hope you did too. Now for the looooong trip back home!
-
Huski, I'm the middle aged women with the hyperactive Lakeland Terrier, please come and say hello :) I sure will! I fly out to Perth tomorrow. Not long to go now!
-
I can't wait either! And looking forward to meeting Miss Frankie :D
-
I don't think I will have a possible update now until next week sorry!
-
Wobbly, sorry to hear you are sick. Steve teaches scent detection training, let me know if you'd like more info :) Nose work is becoming quite popular of late, there are a different ways to train it but there are some ways that are better than others (I personally would avoid any classes that train it by mixing the reward and target odour together.)

I think I spoke to her on the phone this morning actually, she was the lucky last person to grab any spectator tickets. It is looking positive that we MAY be able to release a small number of extra spectator spots, if so I will let you know and you'll be able to get an extra ticket for Saturday :)
-
LOL, don't worry, Steve doesn't bite, he can actually be very nice! (or so I'm told by our clients! ha ha ha!) We should know by tomorrow if we can release more workshop tickets
-
Don't freak out Paddles, besides you will have your private consult before the workshop, you will be a pro by the weekend! :) :p Awesome! Don't worry about how your dogs look, there will be heaps of dogs there from beginners to advanced dogs if anyone is going to stack it or trip over anything, I guarantee it will be me, and I won't even have my dogs there  Not at this stage but we can't rule it out for next year! :)
-
Well done SC, unfortunately lots of people have missed out, I have to say I wasn't expecting it to sell out so fast! We are doing what we can to see if we can open up more spaces. Looking forward to meeting you and Breeze :) Don't be nervous, it will be a great weekend!
-
Tickets on sale now! I believe there is only one spot left; http://training.k9pro.com.au/dir/shop/brisbane-workshop-tickets/ ETA: Sorry guys all tickets and private consults are sold out now, in less than an hour! We are going to see if we can open up more spectator spots. Will update the thread with details if we do!
