  1. ordered through the website. I'll resend you the information now, it wasnt crates. Thanks Nekh!
  2. Hi Melzawelza Out of literally thousands of orders since we opened our K9 Pro online store, we can think of maybe ten orders in that time that Australia Post has lost and have never been found again. We do our best to assist anyone whose order has been lost through the post, and I certainly wouldn't say it is something that happens a lot. I also haven't seen all the threads about lost orders?? I could have missed them though :) Nekh, we are having trouble finding your email. Do you mind resending it to me at [email protected] and I'll help you track it down? If it was a crate order, crates shipments are delayed at the moment due to the volume of orders we have been getting. Yes that's true, and we do raise disputes with Australia Post for express/registered post items that are not delivered. It's a really long process though and Australia Post sucks to deal with
  3. I am sure paying the extra insurance on all orders will be something we will look at doing, if the demand for insurance on products ever outweighs the demand for cheaper prices :)
  4. Interesting, I don't know of any other company who won't replace or refund! Individuals I can accept (as long as they have proof they really did post it.) but companies have insurance for that usually. I have certainly dealt with several companies who have sent replacements only to have the original mail out arrive several months later looking a bit bedraggled  Customer service and referrals from happy customers usually are more a benefit than unhappy ones. Hi Mirawee Customer service is a priority for us - we give everyone the option to insure their order, it is available for a small extra charge if people want that added security. However it would cost us more to insure every order which would mean an increase on product prices. We find our customers prefer that we keep our prices as low as possible (and we are very competitive with our product prices) with the choice to pay extra for insurance if they want it.
  5. Love it! I have one of those too  She hasn't discovered the new crates yet but I am sure it is just a matter of time.
  6. Glad you are happy Kahlua! We have been flat out since we released the new soft and metal crates.
  7. Thanks for your great feedback guys Hi Roguedog Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately we generally can't replace or refund items lost through Australia Post. We do now have an insurance option you can select in case people want to insure their orders so they are covered if they get lost in the post etc. Hundreds of things :) Soft and metal crates, flea and tick products, training bags and vests, dog toys, bedding, hand made leather leashes and collars, training aids, tug toys etc etc. We offer a discount to DOLers too - see this thread here for details.
  8. Dogs can break out of wire crates too if they are determined, no crate is indestructible. What do you have in the crate for him? I would be putting an old dirty t-shirt in there so it smelt like you and I'd also get a Snuggle Puppy and put that in there too. A lot of puppies find the heart beat in the Snuggle Pup comforting and we get a lot of great feedback on them. I agree for now that I wouldn't continue locking him in the crate when he is this distressed. Leave him confined in a bigger area with the crate open until he is able to settle in the crate.
  9. That's similar to my experience, eight weeks later I ended up with a refund but because Cherry has allergy problems (the reason I am having to change her food, the old food I fed has changed formulas and it's not working for her any more) and I can't be without food for weeks on end. The other dogs I feed on raw which is so much easier in a lot of ways and they can eat just about anything!
  10. Thanks guys! I am struggling to find somewhere local that stocks Holistic Select so I am going to try the fish based Earthborn that the local Pet Cafe has, as I can't wait the time it will take for an online delivery (but I will be ordering all future bags online). I have also had a bad experience with Pookinuk so won't use them again.
  11. Even if she was comfortable in the crate beforehand, she isn't now, so I would definitely work on making more positive associations with the crate. I'd also move it (even to another side of the room if possible) just in case it was something to do with the area the crate is it. Is she interested in her food at meal times? You could use her food as treats and throw bits of food in the crate to encourage her to go in there. Use super high value treats like bits of ham or chicken or cheese or sausage, whatever she values more than normal food. I'd work on training a good 'in your crate' type command so you're not forcing her to go in there when she doesn't want to. I feed my dog in her crate and I put her food bowl on top of her bedding, my dogs scoff their food though so there is minimal mess. I often give them bones etc to chew on in the crate though so I just make sure I wash the bedding frequently and shake it out.
  12. How did you originally crate train her? Before now did she have a solid 'in your crate' command? I can send my dog to her crate from across the room and she will run into it. Do you feed her in her crate? Do you ever put her in there at times aside from sleeping at night? I will put my dog in her crate with a food dispensing toy ( like a stuffed kong) I also feed all meals in there.
  13. Can anyone recommend me a good reliable website to buy a bag of holistic select? I had a bad experience last time I bought it online and I am finding it hard to find places that stock it. ETA: And while I'm here  has anyone fed Earthborn dried food?
  14. I don't by any means think that it would be an easy decision, I would be distraught and devastated to lose my dog but at the end of the day I simply don't think my dog's life is worth more than that of a child's.
  15. For me, it is more a case of I don't think I could live with myself if I made the choice to allow a child to die so my dog could live.
  16. To be honest I find this shocking. You would really save your dogs over the life of a child? I love my dogs, they mean everything to me, but I couldn’t place their lives as more important than that of a child. I have people over to my house that aren’t into dogs like I am, obviously coming to my house they know I will have dogs there but I also expect my dogs to behave around people and I would think nothing of putting them away if I had a guest that was uncomfortable with them or if I had kids there that weren’t used to dogs or weren’t capable of behaving appropriately around them. My dogs don’t care if someone doesn’t like them or isn’t comfortable around them. I had a friend stay with a puppy just last week, my big dog isn’t reliable with puppies so I put him away while puppy was there. My dogs are a huge part of my life, but they don’t rule my life.
  17. Daisy is only destructive (and only interested in toys) when there is food involved. I have used the fire plug a few times now and it's still in one piece I hide Micha's orbo from her though
  18. My big dog has had his orbee/planet dog toys for years (and he is a chewer) but my youngest dog broke them in minutes (they are really durable for MOST dogs). I now have a fireplug toy from the ever lasting treat ball range and it is standing up really well against her super destruction! And you can stuff treats in it. ETA: Personally I find my dogs are more likely to play with smaller toys that bounce easily etc than the big toys. I had some of those big tough soft toys, I think they are called tuffies? The dogs never played with them. I don't know if anyone else finds their dogs are the same??
  19. I don’t think they need to bond per se, I just want my dogs to live together without any issues, I personally prefer that they don’t develop a high value for one another, so I don’t really care if my dogs ‘bond’ as long as they behave appropriately with one another. I totally agree with what everyone else has said regarding allowing other dogs to teach him how to play appropriately. IMO that is fraught with risk and it sounds like he already has too high a value for other dogs. Allowing more free play will only teach him other dogs are more rewarding. I definitely think you need to see a more reputable behaviourist. I would be separating them and only allowing them to interact under supervision, I would also intercept *before* play starts to get too rough.
  20. Don't get a beagle if: - You like having food in your house. Or anywhere. - You like your house and clothing and car etc dog hair free - You can't stand that irritating, goes-straight-through-you hound bark - You prefer a more naturally biddable dog
  21. IMO plenty of dogs wouldn't appreciate being laid on top of. Your son could have hurt her when he laid on her or she could have given more subtle warnings she didn't like it previously that you didn't necessarily notice. I'd be teaching your son how to interact with her more appropriately, IMO at four he is definitely old enough to learn how he should and shouldn't behave around the dog. If you are really worried, get a behaviourist in to assess her and give you all pointers on how to avoid a similar situation.
  22. I think both parties had fault in this situation, the greyhound owner for letting their dog race up and bark at a strange leashed dog and the DA dog's owners for failing to have their dog adequately and safely contained. I have DA dog and he has broken leashes, broken and slipped collars etc (not to attack other dogs but just because of poor quality equipment) - it's not hard for leashes with those die cast chrome snaps to break under shock loading, which is why I am paranoid about only ever using good quality equipment. I have also had a DA dog break off it's collar and attack my (leashed) dog, I cannot stress enough the importance of using safe equipment, it should be a priority especially for anyone with dogs with aggression/reactivity issues.
  23. Aidan surely you are just saying this to get a bite....pardon the pun. Nope. Your dog, your responsibility. Assume everyone else in the world knows less about your dog than you do, unless you have a very good reason to trust them. To do anything else is naive, and could cost your dog's life. Obviously people can still do things that are beyond your control or responsibility, but this is not the case here. I don't know the full circumstances but there are a number of questions raised when a dog has been chasing wildlife, without mandatory vaccinations, then gets paraded around the media in a studio filled with bright lights and pointed cameras, while a complete stranger is allowed to molest the dog, the whole time the owner has a nervous death-grip on the leash... I agree, I think the whole thing was an accident waiting to happen.
  24. These are now in stock in case anyone was wondering! :)
  25. But just because the school may have those tools available, doesn't mean they have to be used on every dog. The obedience school I instruct at has a range of tools available - head collars, martingales, check chains etc - but that doesn't mean everyone has to use them, I don't. I find the same thing with when I look for a trainer. They may use aversives with some dogs if that is what is necessary and best for the dog/handler but that doesn't mean they use them on all dogs.
