  1. My Sibe is the easiest dog in the world to live with, super easy to train general manners and basic obedience too. And if I put in some effort I reckon he'd be super reliable off leash. But if I was looking for a dog to be competitive with Sibes (or really any of the spitz breeds) would not be my first choice (same with beagles).
  2. No Springy Ding puppy for you! ;) Hmpf :p Sorry TSD but as much as I can't WAIT to have my very own ESS, I still don't think they are as stunning to look at as a Sibe. Micha really is the most beautiful dog I've ever seen Not biased at all though of course
  3. Siberian Husky. There is no other dog I look at that I think is more handsome
  4. I am only a newbie to agility so I am no help with suggestions for foundation exercises, but personally regardless of what dog sport I am training in I always train focus first and teach the dog to have a high value for me and the rewards I offer. IMHO once you have that you can apply it to any activity you undertake. I don't intentionally assign value for any obstacle or item in any dog sport I train in, as IMO nothing should override the value my dog has for me and the rewards I offer. Running obstacles or fetching a dumbell or whatever is just what my dog needs to do to earn their reward.
  5. Four weeks (especially between 8 - 12 weeks) can be everything for a puppy! Think of the risk you are taking by doing nothing during your pups most critical learning and development period... more dogs are PTS due to behaviourial problems than parvo.
  6. After spending some time with a litter of high drive mal puppies they are definitely unlike any other puppies I've met before. I don't think that vid really captures it well though.
  7. Ams anything I save you are welcome to just PM me how you'd like me to send it to you.
  8. Can you keep them separated for now? I have a dog here with fear aggression but he is great with other dogs as soon as he gets to know them. Is your dog the same?
  9. I don't think there will be much I can send to rescue - a lot of the stuff is really old and crappy quality or falling apart. Will hopefully salvage some stuff though! Anyone have any recommendations for rescues that like to have dog gear donated to them?
  10. Uh oh Dxenion! I didn't even count dog beds and crates!
  11. Oh Aussie3 I found an elizabethan collar too! Not sure why I am hanging on to it when I have the muzzle Minxy I knew I had stacks of leashes, because I love them and every time we get new leashes in stock I end up getting a new one I have a leather leash addiction! Half of my leashes were leather ones LOL
  12. Oh good idea Sway! I will have a look through what is in the throw away pile to see what is worth saving.
  13. LMAO love it Amps! still wondering how I ended up with 17 collars LOL
  14. I just did a big clean out of my 'dog stuff' cupboard and my old training bag (aka the good old Coles green bag ) as I'm getting a new training bag and wanted to do a big clean out and throw away of stuff that's just gathering dust. I didn't think there was that much there but I found: - 4 x brushes - various nail clippers - 1 travel water bowl - 4 wooden dumbells - UD scent articles - A seekback article - UD Gloves - A Jafco muzzle (bought this to use instead of an Elizabethan collar when Daisy had surgery on her leg) - Clicker and wristband (which is amazing as I always lose them) - An e-collar and charger - 5 treat bags - 3 harnesses - 12 dog coats - 4 tugs (my dogs don't generally play tug) - 17 (!!!) collars - 2 long lines - ...and just 12 leashes And that's just the stuff I found in the cupboard/ training bag! How much dog stuff do you have? (this isn't including toys or the dog's food bowls LOL)
  15. After basically doing nothing with Daisy over the past year, I just want to focus on having fun with her again this year and see where that takes us
  16. Micha sleeps outside Cherry and Daisy generally sleep on one of our beds
  17. I got a training bag and vest but am waiting for Australia Post to hurry up and deliver it!
  18. Why I love the Evil Beagle: - She's the goldilocks dog. Not to small, not too big, juuuust right - She has great solid nerves which means she's not nervous, easily frightened, is not phobic about anything or easily stressed, she takes everything in her stride - She has more drive than the average beagle which means she's super fun to train - I can take her anywhere and ask her to work, play with me, focus on me and she will - She's super cute especially when she gives me 'hi-10' - She's not a cuddly dog but when she does cuddle you it melts your heart - She has a very waggy tail - She can be with other dogs, animals, people with no dramas - She's clever
  19. We need some video SK!! I love these dogs
  20. Sure you can work with a dog with issues, but why make it harder for yourself than it needs to be? I'd never recommend anyone buy a puppy like that.
  21. We now stock the Ruffwear boots as well http://www.k9pro.com.au/categories/Ruff-Wear/Dog-Boots/
  22. Neither would I! My next puppy will come from an interstate breeder so in all likelihood, I will only meet the litter once when I go to pick my puppy up. At the end of the day, I would never take the risk of taking a lethargic or disinterested puppy. I'm sure there are reasons puppies may appear less energetic than usual, but I still wouldn't take the risk of taking one that showed no interest in me and wouldn't engage with me in any way. How puppies react to a new person would actually be one of the things I look at when picking a puppy.
  23. Personally I wouldn't buy a puppy that showed no interest in human contact.
  24. itsadogslife... just out of curiosity how many obedience trials have you been to? Have you seen many novice run outs?
