  1. Yes, but what does it imply to you??? A conformation call is needed, that's what I'm going on about. Is there something wrong with my written language, that ppl keep missing it????
  2. firstly, there is no doubt that the ad was posted. secondly, which I have stated in this thread twice, conformation must be established by making contact with them, confirming that it was actually them that posted the ad with the intention to let their studs out at public stud to pet/non registered bitches. Short of me flying up to QLD bringing an unregistered bitch to be mated and videotaping it, I am unable to be the person to prove that it is the breeders intention to let her dogs out to anyone who has the $$$ That is why I have not given permission to send my email off. All it would take is one phone call from Dogs QLD to confirm it. I don't see that as being time consuming nor inconvenient. As I suggested to them in the first place, please re-read the original emails!!!!!
  3. Not really you have not - I was able to find these facts in about 10 seconds... Yep, I found the add very quickly as well... It does seem odd that you're meant to do the investigating and that they don't seem too interested to help??!! you got that right. What's the point of having a code of ethics, if they don't seem to care when they're breached. Where do I go next?
  4. I have rung them and they say that they cannot take action unless I give them permission to send the email??? WTF??? What do they need me for??? They can see the ad for themselves, it's not up to me to call the offender to verify the ad was posted by them, and if I do it's my word against theirs unless I record the conversation. They said "what do you want? Us to do the investigating for you". Couldn't believe it.
  5. Not really you have not - I was able to find these facts in about 10 seconds... I'm impressed Danois, now do you have anything worthwhile to say about it?
  6. This is an email conversation I have had with Dogs Queensland. I'm keeping the breed, breeder and the source of advertising private. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Elle Robinson (Poodiful Kennels) I was surfing the net when I came across this ad click here. You will see that John Citizen from Citizen Kennels is advertising her studs on a free online trading site. Her ad reads as follows, I have three beautiful pedigree males now standing at stud. They are all show quality dogs and have been shown, they are all PRA free. Proven sires of show quality progeny. All are from IMP lines.Registered breeder. $700/pet bitch $1000/show bitch She is quite clearly wanting extra $$$$ by allowing her studs out to breed to pet bitches at a discounted rate and is attempting (if she hasn't done so already) to breach the code of practice. If this is NOT breaching the code, the ANKC should very seriously consider amending the code. One can only guess how many pets her studs have already bred with. It would not be difficult to confirm that the ad was posted by John Citizen by simply ringing the number and pretending you have a pet that you wanted mated. I hope you do take action against this member. Please keep me updated with what you will do with this report Yours Truly Elle Robinson Poodiful Toy Poodles ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Morning Ellie Thank your for your email. I did forward your email to the General Manager and he has asked if you give permission for this email to be sent to John Citizen from Citizen Kennels Kind Regards Roslyn Glancy Dogs Queensland PO Box 495 Fortitude Valley Qld 4006 Phone (07) 3252 2661 Fax (07) 3252 3864 Website www.dogsqueensland.org.au ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, before an email is sent to John Citizen, my thoughts are that conformation must be established that it was actually him that posted the ad. The only way I can see to this is by calling him. Also, any ad can easily be changed and edited so I have saved a screen shot which I have attached. I am forwarding onto the ANKC the original email I that I had sent to you. Please phone me on either........... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I sent this last week, have heard nothing since. I thought that I could contact the ANKC but cannot find one confused.gif confused.gif Looks like they don't really care.
  7. Perhaps your friend's dog has health issues that are not related to diet. Not all health problems are due to diet. Perhaps they were, perhaps they weren't. I'm not the one preaching Barf, I'm am just using it as an example. You are telling me how Barf is better and with barf dogs live longer healthier lives, I have evidence, it is not.
  8. As the owner of big dogs, so am I. That's why I really hate it when very aggro little dogs have a go at them. I feel obliged to really squash down my own dogs' natural responses so that there is no risk of a little dog getting even accidently badly hurt, even from a paw swipe. And that's not fair on my dogs, because I end up panicing and treating them like the wrong-doers, even when they are the ones being attacked, so then they get anxious about it because I am anxious, and I end up in a bad feedback loop. I try to just relax now - if an aggro little dog attacks my dogs when they are on-lead, ignores all warnings and gets hurt, I have to remember it's not my fault and not my problem. Easier to say then to do though. Sibe was on a harness, mine were on leads briard ran out of yard, mine were on leads labradoodle ran out of yard, mine were on leads lab/goldens were off lead as were mine, I was sitting at the beach all alone, they came up to me. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!!!
  9. All dogs have the potential to be aggressive, it's the idiots that own them are to blame. I have had a Sibe lunge (twice) at my dogs whilst walking around the block. I have had a briard (I think)attack my dogs in the street where I live. I have had a labradoodle attack my dogs in the street where I live. And two labs/goldens try to rip my dog out of my arms, in the process half ripped off and shredded my dress. Big dogs have caused me a lot of distress, and could very easily have killed one of my little ones. Am I afraid of big dogs no, I am afraid of what they can do to my little dogs.
  10. If you watch a lot of docos like I do, you will know that most carnivores will eat the stomach content of a larger prey animal before eating the other bits. Now, most prey animals are herbivores so watcha reckon is gonna be in the stomach? I can guarantee it won't be raw meat or raw vegetables. What you will find in the mostpart will be partially digested vegetable matter. If a carnivore catches a smaller prey animal, they usually eat the lot, fur nails and whatever else you can think of, all gobbled up. My theory is variety is the spice of life. The only health issue I have had was an infected anal gland, and I think I was feeding a bit too much chicken bone (raw of course) at that time. I have a friend that feeds only BARF and she is forever going to the vet with her dogs. She recons I feed rubbish to my dogs because they have kibble to graze on. I'm glad I'm feeding rubbish if it keeps them away from the vet. Barfies do preach, BORN AGAIN RAW FOOD FANATICS
  11. I also use webs.com and am very happy them. Click on my banner to view my site
  12. I believe there was an issue with guaranteeing the data base beyond a certain amount of time. ML explained it better than I can a couple of time but it was to do with the storage of our data and if it could not be guaranteed, then it wasn't worth going ahead. I heard that's why it didn't go ahead, I thought it was a crock of poo then, and I still maintain it's a crock of poo now, there are ways to get around that very easily. Very poor excuse I recon, anyone with half a brain in their head would know it's quite easy to store and back up this info. My impression of it all was that there are too many dodgies in charge that would be caught out by having falsified reg papers and they don't want others to know about it.
  13. This is scary. The sad thing is that the Canine Council have done NOTHING to ensure that registered breeders are producing animals that are "Better and Healthier" than the average BYB or Puppy Farmer. Why is it NOT mandatory to test all breeding stock for common health complaints pertaining to the breed. In 2004, they were going to introduce DNA profiling for all breeding stock, whatever happened to that??? So, what is it that makes a registered breeder's dog so much better than one from a BYB??? IMO, the CC has shown evidence that our dogs are any better than the average BYB .
  14. There is a breeder in toy poodles (one of the masses that don't actively participate in Dogs Vic activities) that was suspended for 4 months and $500 fine for having bred 3 litters in 18 months. This was published in August Dogs Vic Magazine. Apparently, the member had been suspended 4 months ago and yet they continued to advertise their pups on DOL (they have an ad up permanently). Personally, in the light of the fact that one must be a member of a K9 council to advertise here, and the offender failed to inform Troy of their suspension, I personally think that this member has not been properly punished for their actions . They deceived Troy, and by their actions of continuing to advertise here are proving that their suspension was nothing but a joke and the fine was not even a third of the price of one of their pups. This member has proven that you do NOT have to be a registered breeder to advertise pups on here. I"m angry this member can get away with advertising here while under suspension and has made a joke out of it. Personally I think Troy should suspend them from advertising for 4 months from now in Lieu of the time when they were actually suspended.
  15. thanx Husky, Poodles in show coat cannot wear collars at all because it breaks coat and the neck coat is where it needs to be the longest. The whole look of the dog gets ruined if they lose it so you can forget about showing them if it's broken. And yes I agree with you, a constant yapper really grinds on the nerves and can be excruciatingly irritating . I guess I was just hoping that the sonic device would work on them, and be an easy fix solution to the problem, but it appears not. The neighbour complaining, did it in the nicest possible way, and suggested I google a solution. The story about the dobe with the electronic collar came from a judge, by second hand information. I have never tried kong's but I have recently heard stories about tongues getting stuck in them and swelling up, needing vets to remove them from their traps. I don't know , it could have been a cheap chinese replica kong. They've got lots of toys to play with but they love best of all to find their own. I often come home to shredded whatever's My work is 15 mins away and I work 5 hours Mon-Fri, from 2pm-7pm, so I'm gone for approx 5.5 hrs, longer if I have to go to the supermarket after work. They love their piggy ears and that keeps them occupied for some time. I do agree, they need more stimuli. and I do feel guilty of probably not providing them with enough. And to tell you the truth, even when I was taking them out daily, their annoying behaviour was still the same irrespective. Yes, I would love to have a camera to monitor their behaviour, so at least I would know exactly what went on when I'm not home, I think tandy has some nanny cams that aren't too expensive atm. Maybe I should try crating them while I'm away but I prefer not to, I'm just worried that if I do, it'll be worse and they'll howl. From my experience people react worse if they think you are being cruel, and more likely to report you because the dogs are unhappy. Considering the fact that some people are less tolerant than others, I'm just figuring that the intermitting barking doesn't bother old Rosa where as it totally bothers the others and fom their perpectives, it is continual and unrelenting. I think the nanny cam is a good idea for starters, at least.
  16. thanx for the input guys. I used to take my dogs to the park pretty much every day when I had 4 dogs. One trustworthy dog (Elvis) would be off lead but the other 3 were on leads which would tangle in no time. Now I have 5, I just can't take them all. If I leave a couple behind, they scream blue murder which is worse and I feel so guilty. I heard a story about the electric collar on a dobie. The dog barked got shocked then screamed, got shocked, screamed again, shocked again, all the other dogs in the household then ended up attacking the screaming dog, and yes the dog never barked again , however, I think I'd rather get my dogs debarked b4 trying that. Of late, I've been taking all my dogs to the park in a trailer with my electric scooter after work, Elvis gets to ride in the front with me. I have one very naughty bitch that likes to bark and follows people at the park and I have no recall with her. So, I take them to fenced ovals at Albert Park lake, if there is no one there, and make a quick getaway if someone does show, which is more often than not. I had a long conversation with the old lady ( Rosa) next door today, being the person closest to their noise and she told me that the neighbours complaining are totally embellishing the truth. She said yes they cry when I leave for work but that only lasts a little while and there's no way that they bark non stop for up to half an hour at a time, She also said they do bark when they hear noises but nothing excessively . Being 89 I questioned whether her hearing was maybe failing a little, she said absolutely not. I have a doggy door and they have the run of the house as well. I have floorboards throughout the house and when they are in the hallway and bark, the noise is amplified and quite loud from outside the front. The last thing I want is the council coming to my house and fining me and/or confiscating some of my dogs. I can't really use the electric or citronella collar on my worst offender because she's in show coat. I love them all very much. You know, human noises like blaring loud music or screaming kids is totally acceptable, but god forbid if the dogs bark. I'm at a loss of what to do. One other thing, they know not to bark at night, be it a rat, bat or possum. Who am I to believe? Rosa next door, who's pretty much home all day or the other complaining neighbours???? What to do, what to do?? I can't really afford to get them all debarked ATM but I am planning a couple of litters later this year, which could pay for it but my house mate is dead set against it and so is the complaining neighbour???? I haven't tried crating them as I fear they will howl as well. I'm at my wit's end with this and I'm sure some people are just more tolerent that others, but it's the intolerent ones that I've got to worry about. Here's a pic of the worst offender, Miss Grace.
  17. I live in a single fronted terrace in St Kilda and a neighbour two doors down from me told me tonight that as soon as i go out, my dogs bark continuously until I return, sometimes non stop for periods of up to half an hour at a time. BTW, I have 5 toy poodles which tend to bark at that awful pitch that goes right through you. Another neighbour (next door I think) has also written 2 anonymous notes complaining that my dogs bark 24/7, which is a complete embellishment of the truth. My other next door neighbour says that it's simply not true and says they aren't bad at all, however she's very old but doesn't appear to be hard of hearing. Now I did some googling and discovered this product http://www.aussiebarkcontrol.com/ds_pro.htm I was wondering if anyone has tried it, and how effective it is. Any help and input will be greatly appreciated. Cheers
