  1. Oh i hope she will be ok, keep a really good eye on her, my Mastiff girl developed Mastitis in the first week, high temps of 40+ and shaking, off to the vets in the early hours of the mroning, scary stuff, she was put on AB's and then she got it again in the second week, so back for more AB's, she was so ill, i ended up taking the pups off her and bottle feeding and she bounced back really quickly. Week 3 out of no where (the teats had all gone down) one of the teats swelled up over night like a football, so it was back up to the vets for more AB's and pain meds this time, but in the end it burst, which was probably the best thing for it, once it did that it was fine, healed up in no time. During this i was stripping all the gunk out and putting steamed cabbage and hot flannels on the affected ones, that did help, also i used castor oil compresses, but you have to make sure the pups don't ingest any of this. The main thing is really watch her, just when i thought my girl was all fine she would go down hill again, happens so quickly!
  2. My girl from the UK was roughly what you stated Wyn and my boy from Sweden was a little bit cheaper. At the time the dollar wasn't that good so i paid out the nose to get my girl out from the UK! I was happier with the costs of the dog from Sweden. Depends on what the dollar is like compared to the Euro at the moment, how much you're paying for the pup, crate size needed etc etc as to how much you will pay to get the pup over. My breeder did all the vet work, was easier and cheaper. The pup could stay with the breeder then, instead of in a kennel.
  3. Scandipet are excellent!! I didn't use Jetpets, i only went through Debbie and she conversed with my breeder on everything. Of course i did my own import permit which is easy anyway and sent all the info to the breeder from the AQIS site on what to do for the testing etc. Contact [email protected] good luck!
  4. Me too, i like that idea Ellz, you just never know how things will turn out do you.
  5. I know not a funny story but holy crap that guy was the funniest i have seen in....like forever!!!!!! I had to just replay the segment to watch him a few times....and crack up again! His poor wife....
  6. Off the top of my head i can't think of anyone called Ros...but you know my brain only contains about 1 and a 1/2 brains cells at the moment so that's not suprising! They'll be 3 weeks tomorrow, so new piccies then! I am going to attempt to get some of them standing now they are up and about
  7. Thanks everyone Who may that be BB? Must be a big dog trailer!!
  8. Well the babies seem to be doing great! Gave them a slushie yesterday, another today and i actually just put todays one (a small portion each time) in a small dish, got one out at a time and let them eat out of the dish...gawd they go balistic over it, little savages...hahaha! Mum is slightly better....got to keep a close eye on her....but now i can maybe finally relax a little.... Their characters are starting to come out, so cute they are....you see them wag their tails and actually pay attention to you when you make little kissy noises...it makes it all worth while. Hannah.
  9. So the outer leaves are the better ones to use, the really green ones?
  10. Thanks, i have the cabbage on there at the moment, i really think that is what helped her so much last time. Have got some premium mince, brought it the other day when i was going to give them a taste...then they got sick! Will see how their tummies react to the milk and then i will be getting them into it asap!!! They are feisty enough, nice and strong, ready for food i reckon, still cannot believe what the vet was telling me....breeders are the ones with the most experience with this sort of thing.
  11. Thanks....sounds like a great idea! They can waddle across the box, but they would drown themselves in a bowl so hand feeding it will be to start with i think. Well fingers crossed, i have just given them a very weak mix of milk....hopefully it will be all up from here Oh and just when i thought mum was back to her old self.... this morning one of her mammaries was like a bloody football.....so it was off to the vet with her for some more AB's...She had Mastitis in that same one but it had cleared right up, back again though, if it's not one thing it's another!!!!!
  12. Thanks....yesterday i had the hell debate with the vet about quite a few things actually, but one of the things was....he said in no way can i start them on any solids until they were at least 4-5 weeks old....THAT went against everything i have ever been told by every breeder i have talked to!!!!! He even told me to ring all the animal food companies and all the experts to see what they say as they know better than breeders....and breeders know nothing, vets always know best....can't wait til my own vet gets back!!!!! With 11 it makes sense to get them in there as early as i can, of course when their tummies are better, but they are licking at the Nutrigel like mad, feisty as ever now...eyes are open, ears and they have little teeth....
  13. Thanks everyone, i will not put the pups back on mum, she got too ill, draining the life out of her. All the pups are still here, lots and lots of lectade later.....the runs have turned into gooey poos so that is good. Tomorrow i will try them on some milk, fingers crossed they take it well! From much advise i have been told to try the divetelact again and see how they go....but i do have goats milk and carnation on hand just in case, also some scourban. Womabaroo is hard to get in large amounts, so it's probably not a good idea to start them on that, too hard to find more of. No time to write really but the advise is much appreciated....thanks.
  14. Hi, i have a litter of 11 Mastiff puppies who are just over 2 weeks old. They started feeding from mum but she developed Mastitis and was very ill so i put all the pups onto Divetelact whilst still feeding off mum a bit (everyones opinion on that is different....)....then due to mum not recovering put them all on the formula only. Mum came good after that. They have been on the bottle for about a week now? They had the runs a little and i was a bit concerned (although others said this was normal?) so tried Peptosyl which did nothing. Also had them on Protexin. Yesterday one was in the corner crying and crying so i took him into the vet, high temp, although he couldn't sit still (obviously in pain) he was very limp when you picked him up. They looked at a fecal sample and couldn't see anything unusal....they took blood and the protein levels were on the lower side, probably due to the runs and the white cells were on the higher side. They couldn't really give me a sure answer of what it could be, except for a bacterial infection of some sort, so they were all put on Clavulox. By night time another one was sick the same, i kept up the glucose, Nutrigel and rubbing those bellies, i also took the formula back to newborn strength. This morning the two sick ones were doing better, one more than the other, but by lunch time a different one had gone downhill, high temperature, limp, whining....some of the others started whining aswell but not as bad as this one. I took him in and his temp was also high and he was in pain, he was givin Tramadol. I was advised to take them right off the formula and just give a mix of Lectade for 24 hours to try to get the diarrhea out of their little tiummies. When you pat them it sounds like a big water bottle? Even with the runs they are all putting on weight....but over these last two days they are just so sick.... I managed to get a fecal sample from the boy who was really sick yesterday and they have sent that off to do a culture....that takes days though and i am worried about what path to take with them now. I've just fed them the Lectade mix, they are all resting quietly. Should i give them Nutrigel aswell to keep the vitamins up to them? Is it a good idea to give them only this for that amount of time? Should i put them back on the Divetelact tomorrow...or try another formula? I've tried all i can think of.... This is my first litter, what a nightmare!!! But all i want is my little babies to survive this and be healthy.... (Have posted in the other forums)

  16. Hey, they are bottle fed and i burp and toilet them all. The box is now at 25* (was 28* the first week) i've tried to keep them warm, but not so warm that they dehydrate. It must be some sort of infection, or they are intolerant to the formula. Some of their poos are quite gooey and smelly...It will be good to get the culture results back, hopefully they find something we can 'fix'! But until then i have to keep them going... Why not Protexin with the Antibiotics?

  18. Hey, 11 babies born today by c-sec, 5 girls all fawn, 6 boys with two brindles the others fawn :~)) Will get pics done tomorrow!
  19. So 14 we may get! Lots of work and fun ahead I'm terrible with names too...i need to go make some more puppy id collars
  20. Hahahaha!!! Yes they will be little poo factories, just pumping it out...hehehe! In one end and out the other
  21. Do ya reckon? It's a belly full of aliens!!! They move around like that anyway...jumping beans they are
  22. We can test for dominant PRA in the Mastiffs, although apparently it's not common in the dogs in Oz and no one else really tests for it, mine are imports so i did it anyway to be sure they were not affected with it. Both are clear. It's one of the few tests we can DNA test for (along with the fluff gene, not affecting health) so it is a sure thing...you know what they are and you know the offspring will be clear. Why would anyone knowingly breed to produce affected dogs....beats me. I tested to make sure i wasn't going to produce dogs that would be blind!
  23. Just a few more than the 'few' they could see on the u/s!!!! I could see 8 skulls, counting a few more than that though with the spines but i'm not an experienced skeleton counter
